If you ever decide to meet pepito just head into the forest, pepito likes meeting people in neutral ground
Thereâs a lot of forest
Pepito is pretty shy and has a dog
I wish I had a pet but Maxo doesnât like pets
For a refresher, Pepito is the kid you saw at the mall
Yeah I remember, the kid with the âWhereâs Waldoâ sweater and all the crows.
Pepito seems like somebody else who likes being quiet but also making loud noises
What's your definition of scary?
Well things are scary in different ways but the kind of scary I mean about Richas and Tallulah is like. When youâre playing with them and things are chill and then they see your face and theyâre like âare you mad at meâ and you didnât know you were doing anything with your face and then theyâre like âyou hate meâ and you donât and you donât know what to say, and when you try to explain you sound angry? To them? But youâre just confused. And then they start crying and youâve ruined their life and youâre just sitting there with your blocks while they walk away crying and you donât know what to do so you keep playing blocks and then Chayanne comes up and asks if you were being mean and you donât know if you were or not because they just started crying out of nowhere and you donât know what you did wrong or what face you were making, but now Chayanne is mad at you. And it happens every time you play so you start looking scared when they ask you to play and they get upset about that and when you try to not play with them they get even more upset and then Chayanne makes you play with them and youâre just sitting there ruining their life because youâre not smiling enough or talking right and itâs really really stressful. And then theyâre the good kid and youâre the bad kid because theyâre so nice and pretty and good at art and everyone loves them and you canât do anything but make them cry.
That kind of scary.
Richas isnât scary, just energetic, also has a lot of animals
I like energetic and animals. Heâs just also scary the way Tallulahâs scary only with biting.
Ok least scary to scariest: pepito, empada and sunny
Okay cool. You gotta work up to these things
Visitation Order:
Pepito
Empanada
Sunny
Richas
No time limit, we just figured you might like having another friend or 2
I probably would yeah. Can you rank the new three in order of least scary to most scary
Maybe you can ask chayanne for help if you ever want to meet the new kids, heâs on pretty good terms with them
Chayanne already thinks Iâm a big dumb baby. Iâll figure something else out.
Also is there a due date for this? You keep asking. Are bombs gonna go off if I donât do it in time? Whatâs the time limit
Do you think youâll ever want to meet one of the new kids on the island?
The idea is less scary than it used to be but still scary.
I know my seven siblings and Pomme and. Her, but now thereâs like four other kids right? I know about Richarlyson but weâve never met and now thereâs three new ones
*a crow flys in and pulls out a bag of chocolate chip cookies and hands them to trumpet*
The good things continue
You donât need to do anything to deserve having good things happen to you, especially if itâs after youâve been having a rough time
Ohhhh so like if a bad thing happens to you then you deserve a good thing to balance it out
I really hope that's true because it would mean I deserve way more good things
Iâm glad things are finally getting better for you trumpet, you deserve it
But I didn't do anything
You have your own room!! :D
I HAVE MY OWN ROOM!!!
They said I could do whatever I want and I think that means I can paint on the walls I always wanted to paint on the walls itâs gonna be so cool when Iâm done
"Okay," says Trumpet. He has a Calico Critter in each hand and is staring at the open dollhouse with all the seriousness of a tactician surveying a battle map. "Now- now Senora Gata and Mr. Squirrel are both going to work- you make them go to work, 'kay? That's on the other side of the couch."
[@thediamondmodcart @maximum-father]
"Do you want me to play with both of them or just one?" Dan asks with genuine interest and confusion. He's kneeling on the floor, position halfway towards the couch while facing to Trumpet with empty hands.
"Are you still the director and I'm still almost every actor?"
"I'm the director, yeah," says Trumpet immediately. He moves his figures to one hand and passes Sra. Gata and Mr. Squirrel to Dan with the other. "You don't have to play them, just move them to the other side of the couch and then they'll be at work."
He walks the rest of the cat and squirrel families up to their respective breadwinners and give them little goodbyes and kisses. Dan returns them as its characters and moves them to the other side of the couch, and Trumpet takes the remaining two parents.
âRight. So now that those two are gone, Monsieur Chat is going to make his move on Mrs. Squirrel," says Trumpet, beginning to walk the father of the cat family over to the mother of the squirrel family.
He blinks, seemingly lost on the lore of Trumpet's critter world. "And- why?"
"Oh, Monsieur Chat has been eyeing Missis Squirrel for a whiiiile," Trumpet says, waggling his eyebrows up at Dan. "He wants her- her hot squirrel body, you know? Here, you be Monsieur Chat," he says, shoving the father cat figurine into Dan's hands.
Dan blinks again, incredibly confused and absolutely unsure what emotion he is feeling right now. Shock? Incredulousness? What.
"I- feel as if this isn't for you or in any case a character that I can not at all."
And at that moment, Max, having finished setting up with Pierre, stumbled down the stairs and into the living room.
Trumpet and Dan seemed busy playing with dolls, but... well, it wouldn't hurt too much to interrupt for a second.
"Hola, Trumpet! Would you and Dan mind coming upstairs? We- I, I have something to show you, yeah?" She fidgeted, trying her best to tamp her excitement.
Trumpet glances at Dan, then shrugs. âSure.â He stands up, straightens out his skirt, then gently lays down his figurines in the dollhouse. He ducks to the far side of the couch and grabs the other two parents, too. He doesnât want them to be separated while heâs gone.
Once everyoneâs home, he shuts the dollhouse again. He takes Danâs hand, then reaches out to let Maxo take his own. âWhat are you showing us?â
God, Trumpet was too precious. Maximus slotted their wrist into Trumpet's hand, same as normal. Things were normal today. Yep.
She glanced over at Dan, raising her eyebrows in way that she hoped read as 'please back me up here'. "It's a surprise. A good one."
"I uh- I assume it'd be a good one," He weakly jokes, stumbling over himself in an all around confused state. "Otherwise it's not really a surprise worth showing, you know?"
Dan is so lost and confused, but he's got the spirit.
Trumpet squints between the two of them. Somethings suspicious. âOh-kayyyyâŠâ he says slowly, then shrugs. âLetâs go upstairs then.â
Had it just forgotten? Fine. Maxo could work with this, still. Maybe. She started to lead them both upstairs "Mhm. We've, uh, we've been planning this for- for a while."
OH THAT WAS TODAY.
"Ah- right." Dan immediately looks like he's awake. "Yeah- yeah! So it's- definitely a good one."
Trumpet blinks. Dan looks excited, which makes Trumpet start to feel something fizzy in his stomach, too. Maxoâs usually excited about something or other, but Danâs more laid back. ââŠOkay!â he says, walking a little straighter. This must be something BIG.
They turn into the upstairs hallway, down to the door Trumpet always assumed he wasnât allowed to open. Pierreâs waiting there, too. Thatâs all three of them.
Trumpet stops in his tracks. Have they built him some kind of bigâŠthing? So big theyâve had to hide it in a whole other room? Heâs noticed that theyâve been doing stuff in that room for a while, but he couldâve never imagined it was something for him.
He looks up at Maxo. This surprise seems so big that he canât help but be nervous. What if itâs a bad surprise? âQue estĂĄ pasando?â he asks, narrowing his eyes in comical second-grader suspicion.
Trumpet didn't seem to be aware of what was going on quite yet, but that just made this all the better.
Max crouched down to be on his level, bracing himself with his hands placed on his knees.
"Well... you know how you've been staying with- with me and your dads, and you don't really have a place to yourself? Now you don't have to, if you want. This-" She gestured to the door behind him, "this room is all yours. You do whatever you want with it."
Trumpet blinks, his eyes going wide. He looks at the door. He looks at Pierre and Dan and then back at Maxo.
"...A room for me?" he asks, pointing to himself. "Just me?"
"Just you, bud." Dan pats his back. It nudges its head towards the door. "Go on, go see for yourself."
Trumpet glances at Pierre, who gives an encouraging nod and a thumbs up. He takes a deep breath and steps forward, opening the door.
âŠThey made it orange. And blue. With little bits of red and green here and there, like his hat.
Trumpet walks into creamsicle colored walls and feels his feet squish in soft baby blue carpet. He gives a delighted squeal and dances around, spinning off-kilter as he struggles to feel the rug with his feet and stay standing at the same time. On the far wall are two long windows. Trumpet crosses eagerly over to them and looks out. The view here is of the front yard.
He looks around the room. Theyâve put some furniture in here. A bed with plain sheets (for now,) a dresser, a desk, some shelves and a big chest. Space for his stuff. Space for his life. Space for him.
Itâs the fact that itâs colored like his hat that drives the point home. This is HIS place. Itâs a room thatâs for him and nobody else. Itâs his the way that Maxoâs room is Maxoâs and the create kitchen is Pierreâs and the lava pool in the basement is Danâs. Itâs a space that would be empty and sad without him, proof built into the house that this is where he belongs. Heâs a part of this building.
Theyâve built him into their home. Thatâs what he means to them.
Itâs not temporary.
Trumpet is going to grow up here.
When he turns back to face the three of them, his eyes are full of tears. He opens his mouth to thank them, then chokes, sniffles, and rubs his eyes.
Maxo grinned at him from her place in the doorway. She had gotten it right, Trumpet was at that point where he was ready to be more individualistic. It wasn't too much.
"Hey, hey, it's- it's okay, you'll have forever to get used to it, yeah?"
Forever.
Trumpet immediately starts sobbing, pressing the heels of his hands to his eyes. He stumbles towards the door, then pauses, unsure of who to hug.
He doesnât have to choose, in the end. Three pairs of arms wrap around him and he feels stretched and squeezed but mostly just. Held.
âY-you really wa-ant me hh-here,â he sniffles, his chest jumping erratically.
"Oh bud, of course. You're our son." Dan's tail instinctively wraps around Trumpet's leg. He pats his hair just a bit. "I'm sorry it took this long to show that."
Max nodded along. "Mhm. And I- I should have probably set this up when you first got here. I hope it makes up for that."
âMm-mmhm!â Trumpet sniffles. Itâs true that it probably would started things off on a better foot if theyâd done this in the beginning. But Trumpet canât find it in him to care about that right now. He doesnât want to spoil a moment as huge and awesome as this by being mad that it didnât happen sooner. AndâŠtheyâve been figuring this shit out just as much as he has, havenât they?
Pierreâs humming happily, pressing itchy kisses to Trumpetâs cheek that tease the corners of his lips up through his tears. Trumpet knows where he stands with him. The other two, thoughâŠ
âYouâre our son.â
Trumpet had given up on being a son. He hadnât realized how much it still meant to him. But thereâs a difference, he guesses, between not being abandoned versus being actively wanted.
âTha-ank you,â he manages. âI like it- I really- thank you.â
He pulls away gently to wipe his face and looks around the room. Itâs too emotional for him right now. He wants to keep things moving.
ââŠI w-wanna put all my stuff in here,â he says, looking around at all the space available to him.
Maxo grinned. Trumpet was actually planning on making this place his own. She was already excited at the thought of how his room would look in a few years.
"Well, let's go." They clasped an arm around Pierre's shoulders.
Trumpetâs only ever been a guest in the eight short years of his life.
The moment he tumbled free from his shell, he was a guest of the Federation, and lived his first seven years of his life under the premise and hope that he would someday leave.
Four days he was a guest in the light with Maxo, not nearly enough to settle in. The next six days were spent leaving - very slowly, but leaving. And then not even death had encouraged him to put down roots in her domain; the hours and hours he spent there were basically just her convincing him to leave. Heâd tried to resign himself in the following months to being a more permanent guest of the Federation, but that fantasy had ended up as shattered as his shoulder. And now heâs here.
Trumpet likes his new toys. He likes playing with his dolls. He likes cuddling his plushies. He likes sitting down and building his huge new puzzles on the floor. Sometimes Maxo or Dan or Pierre or any arrangement of the three will come and work on the puzzles with him, and that makes him happy.
He likes wearing his new clothes. The first week, heâd sometimes change multiple times in one day. He likes waking up and getting to decide what he looks like. He likes smelling like good soap and having pretty, soft hair.
He likes making machines with his Papa. Pierre doesnât sleep at the house anymore, but he still comes over every day, and Trumpetâs gradually starting to get more confident as a helper. Pierre is endlessly patient and quick to praise, and it makes Trumpet feel like he can do anything.
He likes hanging out with Dan. It's always willing to play with him, or build with him, or read to him. Sometimes he brings shiny rocks or pretty flowers and sits next to Trumpet and tells them all about the mod that theyâre from, and Trumpet likes to sit and listen.
Heâs starting to like food again, more than just soup. Maxo cooks and it smells good and it tastes like somebody caring. She sings weird little songs in the kitchen while Trumpet sits sneakily just on the other side of the doorway and listens and giggles, pressing his hands right over his mouth. Sometimes she gets quiet right after he giggles, but then she starts singing again, so itâs probably just a coincidence.
Between Maxoâs overflowing affection, Pierreâs steady positivity, and Danâs quiet company, Trumpet slowly starts to live his life under the assumption that somebody will be there if he needs something. And he still views it as transient, but not in the way where heâs expecting it to go away. Itâs more that transience is all heâs ever known. Trumpetâs Not-Eight-Ification has left him living squarely in the present, and the present is pretty damn good.
Heâs more worried about the fact that he, as a humble guest, doesnât have anywhere to keep all of his cool new shit that isnât in the way - and no way to pack it all up if he needs to leave.
Whatâs a stripped club
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT. WHO TOLD YOU THIS?
Itâs Maxoâs job apparently heâs hiring people on my dash to be strippers and thereâs a sex room in it
YOU SHOULDN'T KNOW ANY OF THIS, BUD... YOU'RE WAY TO YOUNG FOR THIS.
Is it a sex thing
I- Well- Yes, but also no, but also yes in the end?? It's really confusing but- BUT I SHOULDN'T EVEN TELL YOU!!
Okay but I think you should know that I will google it if you donât tell me, so, which explanation would you rather I hear? I guess?
I. Okay, you can definitely google it. BUT, only when you're like, 15. Otherwise you get nothing from either of us.
What do I not get from you
Like- like an explanation.
Okay
I looked it up just now are you mad at me
WHY? I- No, but WHY?
I wanted to know and you werenât telling me
Are you sure youâre not mad you sound mad
Baffled. I'm baffled.
Okay
I thought it was something really bad but itâs just somebody doing a dance where they take off their clothes real slow and other people watch
I donât think TĂo Charlie can dance but I do think he wants to take off all his clothes
He and TĂa Mariana used to fuck like. Practically in front of JuanaFlippa
I donât think itâs a big deal
Youâre SURE youâre not mad
It's pretty bad if you're a little kid who shouldn't see any of this until you're older... and also that's concerning??
I'm not, I'm really just. baffled.
Okay
Where are you right now
Downstairs đ
Okay stay where you are
*a crow brings trumpet a dragon plushie*
*His hoard grows.*
*He doesnât really have a place to put all his new toys. Itâs kind of stressful. He has way too much to carry if he ever has to leave.*
