I'm sick of people who aren't nuanced enough to broach Sabrina Carpenter. but people should at least understand, on a very general scale, that you ARE responsible for all the images, ideas, concepts, and theories that you choose to put out into society. regardless of the nature of your authorial or artistic intent. If you can't communicate the intention grounding a narrative, it has failed. SNL helped Trump win. Pedophiles love Lolita. "alpha male" conservatives say that their favorite film is Fight Club. homosexuality and mental illness are represented as male weakness; cults, white terrorism, and violence are represented as narrative aspirations. so the satire failed to either implicitly or explicitly emphasize the dramatic absurdity, i.e. tyler durden just makes psychopaths cool. As someone who only enjoys thematically dark fiction with controversial themes and topics! -- good intentions can fail, and it is intellectually very lazy and cowardly not to be able to admit when you failed to say what you meant to say.
Satire can fail. Satire that doesn't clearly critically engage with the issue always fails.
