Glitter 'N Gold Jem / Jerrica - Jem (Hasbro)
Many peculiarities for me. I still have my doll, but never noticed she could cross her legs as illustrated. Have the whole outfit except for the tights, bodysuit, and shoes. Still have the hair bow thing, although I'd completely forgotten what it came from. Obviously had the tape, but have no memory of the non-theme songs*. This is also the only doll I've ever had whose face paint has started to chip away, but she's led a poorly-stored life.
I may have gotten a different edition that had "Universal appeal", instead of these two. Which I later learned is a Misfits song, and confused me greatly. It sounded so much more egotistical than Jem ever is on the show, but my hearing wasn't good enough to tell the singers apart, and again, the tape that came with a Jem doll didn't tell you it was Pizazz. I never had any Mistfits dolls new, so there were no other tapes I could've heard it on. I only ever had Original Jem, G&G Jem, and Aja.

COL. STEVE AUSTIN'S CRITICAL ASSIGNMENT LIMBS
These are pretty neat. Kinda wish he'd had a laser in his arm in the television series.
And I seem to remember from one of the novels (no idea which one) that he DID have an emergency oxygen tank in one of his thighs.
But--
--under what freakin' circumstances is Steve gonna go on a mission where he needs his leg to blow up?
OSCAR GOLDMAN: Steve, this vital mission requires your leg to explode.
STEVE AUSTIN: Go **** yourself, Oscar!
A mission as a pro soccer ringer. Just when you need to draw out the suspect on the opposing team, *boom*, a game delay for the ages, possibly a red card the perp will never recover from.
Love the arm drawing that's all three of them at once. Now there's a mission Steve should've called in sick for.

Budo - GI Joe (Hasbro)
I still have this helmet, but had no memory at all of where it came from. I tell you right now, the figure itself has not survived in my possession.
Sorceress - Masters of the Universe (Mattel)
Around the time this figure came out, I knew there was one, and my birthday was approaching. My mom took me to a store with lay-a-way to pick some things out, but no Sorceress figure in the toy department. As we were walking across the store to drop off the stuff (probably a lot of My Little Pony, instead,) lying on a shelf with some teeshirts was one (1) Sorceress figure, that I guess someone else decided against. She was added to my birthday stuff, which did get paid off, I did get my favorite character for my birthday, and I still have her because you don't treat a gift fate drops into your lap like that carelessly.
Let's have a happy childhood with mama!

Amazing Galoob Micro Machines playset at thrift. I think this must've been one of the early ones.
would've loved this back then
This is SO CLOSE to a Hot Wheels service station playset from the 70s, and wonderfully so. The terracotta roof tiles made me think it was, at first. Just, you know, Micro Machine-sized. I found one of the Hot Wheels playsets at a Goodwill outlet a few years ago, and would love to find one of these baby versions to go with it.
4-Pack - C.U.T.I.E. (Mattel)
I still have my CUTIEs, and I have all of these except the purple baby. The fitness figurines are unexpectedly chunky, in a pretty nice way. There's at least one actual guy, but my favorite's always been the butch clarinet player. I've never found more of them from thrift stores, but I'd certianly like to.
Boy George (LJN)
Did they make the version with the white twists in his hair? I'd still want that one.
My mom would've gotten me any of these when I was a kid, being into MTV as we were, and it makes me sad I don't ever remember seeing one in a store here, to have asked for it. That makeup would've been unrivaled, until Jem came along.

Fuckin' love these things forever. Had a big chain of them for years, but had to sell a while back. Gumball machine should still be giving out these. There was no reason to ever stop. Regain your greatness, trinket-makers of Hong Kong! <3
