Never Really

I hated the way your room felt the last two weeks I spent with you. I hated the way you fixed your hair, that you never swept the floors, how you didn’t sleep with sheets. Beneath the four corners of your ceiling, I hated that you couldn’t let yourself love me. But when I hear the ocean I will think of you, because of that stupid song- I can’t remember the name. Thank you for giving me Lost in Translation over two days in bed, beside you. I hope when you develop that video camera film that my hair in the sunlight makes you lose your wit, for just a minute. Just so you know– I look at light poles differently, as if the lines have a date with the sky. And fuck peach cobbler Tazo tea, because I hear you singing, as the sun falls, down the window, into shadow. For the record, I hope you become happy with yourself… so happy that you can be happy with someone else. And I never really hated your hair.
