Hearing his sincere emotions, her smile couldn’t help but soften. A little like a strange version of her mom, he reminds her of her parents a little.

Though, her ears perked up at his explanation for her arrival; an accident. It was meant to create toons? Humans are playing with things they shouldn’t…

“You humans purposefully summon us? For what reason, if it’s okay to ask?” She asked with a quirked brow. 

Henry Stein…

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Stein. You have a lovely name!”

Henry considers his next words carefully. Giving this information to the wrong person could result in so much catastrophe... But he also finds himself hardly caring at the moment.

“Well... Normally toons are supposed to just hop off the page. Ours... didn’t do that. And I didn’t know it originally when Joey said he’d found a way to make them come to life, but... yeah. He meant demons.”

He sighs, shaking his head. “If I’d known before he brought Bendy to life, we wouldn’t be summoning demons at all.”

“I know he meant it as a joke, but...”

“I’m surprisingly fine with being referred to as the toons’ mother. At least for today.”

Catching an unfamiliar scent, Starlette was ready to defend herself if necessary. After all; odd place, creepy area she was summoned in, and just an overall bad feeling. However, when she came face to face with a strange human male..

She stared in shock; he can’t be the one that summoned her if that’s his reaction. But his wording shows he knew something was happening. And this ‘Joey’ seems to be the one who summoned her but, she didn’t see anyone down there with her.

“Um..n-no I’m not a toon. There are lots of Toon demons in Hell, sure, but I’m not the one to uh…yeah. There’s really no need to apologize! You didn’t summon me…”

Clearing her throat, she put on a smile that could rival her dad’s and held out her hand, “My name is Starlette Magne, it’s nice to meet you, Mister…?”

“There’s every reason to apologize! I don’t-” Breathe, Henry. Getting worked up isn’t going to solve anything. “I don’t know what Joey was doing, but clearly he messed something up with it. This was supposed to create another toon, not... summon another demon. Well I mean it always summons demons but I mean- I mean a non-toon demon.”

Another sigh before he tries to smile at her. Nervously. The only demons he’s been in contact with before were the toons. “Stein. Henry Stein. Nice to meet you, Miss Magne. I’m so sorry for the situation.”

The deer demon let out a startled squeak as she opened her eyes to a whole new world…literally. She was certain that she was working on expanding her orphanage before her vision blacked out, and when she woke up…

Wooden walls and floors greeted her, as well as a very strong scent of ink. What is this..? Her red irises locked onto everything they could as she tried to piece together where she was. The room was a bit dark, lit by candles for the most part, and she stood in the center of an odd symbol on the floor drawn in ink. 

“Was…I summoned? I didn’t think that was possible for me..” Starlette breathed out in confusion. “Hello..?” She called out before stepping out of the ink symbol, the sound of her footsteps reverberating in the room and causing the wood beneath her to creak.

What was this place? She felt a bit anxious as she started ascending the wooden stairs, her ears already flattening against her head.

If he was honest, Henry didn’t trust Joey and his summonings. Much less in the Ink Machine room of all places. What was he doing, making more toons? Oh well. Worrying about it was above his paygrade.

Waiting for the new toon was, also, above his paygrade. But look who’s stuck waiting for the new guy? Yep. Henry.

He’s not really even paying attention until he hears a voice, and he’s about to greet them- Until he notices they are very much in color, and very much unlike anything else he’s ever seen. A hand comes up to cover his mouth and he stares in shock for a moment before finally relocating his voice.

“You... You’re not a toon... Oh my God... Joey, what’ve you done...? Who are you? I’m so sorry, oh my God.”

Alice offered a patient smile with Henry, even if she felt the bubbling excitement of being NEEDED for a SCENE was writhing within her ink.

Maybe it was a bit melancholic that Henry didn’t very well know her enough like he did with Bendy. But, really, that could be applied to everyone at this studio except for Susie. … Admittedly it was a bit irritating - definitely a hit to her pride. However, she’d never find a fault with Henry. At the least, he always made an effort.

Alice would look over the script as she pushes her thoughts aside, giving a low hum as her head nodded side to side. “Well, presented with this, I’d have to roll up my sleeves and begin to become my own detective! Complete with an outfit change … Which would involve a hat and one of those little jackets! This is my mystery I stumbled upon, so I’m going to figure out what happened!”

He tried. Oh, lord did he try. With everything that had to be done, he didn’t really have enough time in the workday to pay attention to every toon individually; that was always something that bothered him.

Bendy always got all the attention. The other toons were just backups. It annoyed Henry probably about as much as it irritated everyone else.

Henry listens as Alice describes what she would do, turning to his desk and quickly sketching as she speaks. Nothing refined, nothing expressly like her, just a quick jot to get the idea down on the page. “Something a little like this?” he asks, gesturing to the page a little. “Then...” He moves to a different part of the board. “If that’s what would happen, then you think what the script says would be an upturn or a downturn? Would it be comical, or a little more on the serious side?”

Alice perked up when Henry called her name, eyes blinking innocently as she felt a spark of excitement at Henry needing her attention!

Quickly did she come over obediently, hands held in front of her as she curiously as looked over Henry’s shoulder briefly before returning her eyes to her creator. “What do you need, Henry?”

“I need your input on this scene. I might have made you but I’m not you, so... I can’t exactly say what you’d do in this scenario.” He gestures for her to take a look at the notes and script, while he’s talking. The script is of one of the many typical themes for cartoons, but just knowing Henry, he wanted to put as much love into the art on the page as he put into the toons in the studio.

“Admittedly I’m at a bit of a loss... I hate acknowledging that I don’t know you as well as I do Bendy... Kinda need to fix that, but right now let’s just focus on the page. What would you do, actions-wise, if you were in the scenario in the script?”

The best way to check the lip sync on the animation is to play it with the lines being spoken, right? There’s no way Henry’s going to be able to get his hands on the recording - Joey would kill him for it - but as long as he could flip the pages and listen to the voice actress at the same time, it’d be fine.

“You’re not busy, are you? I can wait if you are.”

The animator tapped his pencil on the desk, trying to figure how he ought to draw this scene. It surprisingly didn’t include Bendy at all, and he wanted to ensure the one it did put on the spotlight would find it just about perfect. So...

“Alice? Mind coming over here for a second? I need to ask you something!”

He gave a nod, accepting his fate on that regard. If things pick up, he’d have to deal with that overpriviledged man once again.

“…There is one thing I want to know.” He was making his way towards the door, but stayed inside and kept the door shut. “Why did you hire me over everyone else? I have theories, but after this whole imposter situation, I wanna hear the truth from the actual man himself.”

Joey half expected that to be the end of it. But then he was questioned about why he’d hired Grant, and he figured he should sate the other’s curiosity.

“After the previous accountant mysteriously disappeared-” Ah, it seems Bendy didn’t tell him about that- “I had to look for a replacement. And everyone else who applied, well... They honestly thought they were in for an easy job, or they lacked the experience or expertise that was necessary for it. You had the expertise and experience, and to be honest I also needed someone who wouldn’t get distracted by the making cartoons aspect of working here. Though I can’t quite say that about you anymore, now can I?”

Joey this is not the time to be making jokes about how Grant married a cartoon.

“To put it simply... You fit best here, out of everyone.”
