I dream of stoner Frank during a zombie apocalypse 💭🧟♂️
Mhm 🙂↕️ yeah baby, me too <3 a bit of warning - we have some dark themes in this one! No smut though but I feel like this might be a two part-er if we arent careful!
You spent your days working in the mall at the clothing store across from the sandwich shop that Frank worked at.
Frank would always come over for your lunch breaks with a paper bag of your favorite sandwich and a bag of chips and drink. Its always been harmless flirting and you were 98% sure he had a girlfriend so there was nothing ever serious between you two, however much your coworkers begged you to go out with him.
Lunch dates and flirty looks from across the mall were just fine for you. He's asked you a million times to come smoke with him after work and each time you've turned him down, lying and saying that you dont smoke. Although you were pretty certain that you smoked more than he did.
"Hiya babes, got yer lunch for ya." Frank greets you with a smile as he sets the bag down on the counter.
"Thanks Frankie, wanna come to the back? Brian just put in a new tv in the breakroom." You ask taking a sip of the drink.
Frank nods and you lead him to the breakroom. He pulls out a chair and spins it around to sit backwards as he leans forward and grabs the remote. After flipping through a few channels, he lands on a news broadcast.
"Eh nothing good is ever on during the day." He mutters and sets the remote back down. The news channel softly playing in the background as you and Frank talk about your days.
"Oh my god you should've seen him babes, he was so mad that I forgot his damn pickles!" Frank's laughing is interrupted by an alarm blaring through the tv speakers.
KRRRT - - - KRRRT - - - This is an emergency broadcast alert for the state of New Jersey and surrounding areas. This is not a test.
"What the fuck?" You say looking up at the tv, Frank turns the volume up a bit.
The Center For Disease Control has identified an outbreak of an unknown disease rapidly spreading through the following states: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware and Maryland as well as Washington D.C. All civilians are ordered to stay indoors until further notice.
"Oh my god?" You say, looking to Frank with concern.
"Don't worry babes, its probably just some new kinda flu or something." Frank tries to reassure you. "Finish eating yer food. We're okay."
If you are feeling sick, isolate where possible until a medical professional is able to come to you. Do not leave your residence. All non-essential personnel is instructed to leave their businesses and return home.
"Frankie, we should go." You say standing up and going to your locker for your things.
"Ye-yeah babes, good idea. Come on." Frank says standing up and walking you out to the main part of the store.
"What's goin on?" Your manager Brian asks, seeing Frank guiding you out.
"Brian there was an emergency alert on tv, some kinda disease outbreak. They told everyone to go home." You say to him.
"Oh, shit uh okay. Where's Kitty?" He asks looking around for the other cashier.
"Last I saw her she was in the back doing inventory. Hang on, I'll find her." You say setting your bag down with Frank and jogging toward the stock room.
"Kitty! Hey we gotta go, there's something going on and everyone's gotta go home. Are you back here? Kit?" You call as you look through the dim stock room and see your coworker standing with a clipboard, taking stock of the inventory.
"Kit!" You call to her, seeing her earbuds in you tap her on the shoulder.
"Aahh!!" Kitty screams as she turns around. "Oh, shit. Oh my god girl you about gave me a heart attack!" She says clutching her chest.
"I'm sorry Kit, look we gotta go. Something is happening and we all have to go home." You say and grab her purse for her. "Come on, I can drive you home."
You explain everything you heard on the tv as you walk back to the main store to find Frank and Brian frantically researching more of what's going on.
"Apparently all of Jersey is shut down, the freeways are completely blocked off and you can't get to any other state from here." Frank says. "At least not by car."
"Let's just worry about getting home first, before we start trying to leave the state." You say as you fish around your bag for your car keys.
"I'm taking Kitty home, Frankie do you need a ride?" You ask and he nods. "Brian?"
Brian shakes his head. "I'm good, gotta go pick up Maria anyway."
"Okay, get home safe." You say as the three of you head out of the mall and into the parking lot.
"Shotgun!" Frank calls as he races to your car. You and Kitty both roll your eyes as you follow quickly behind him.
Starting your car up, you turn on the radio to see if anymore broadcasts are out to give more information as Kitty googles things in the back seat.
Static fills the speakers as you drive to Kitty's house. "Find anything Kit?" You ask her as you sit in traffic.
"Nothing except for the CDCs alert. Oh, it lists the symptoms to watch out for." She says as she scrolls through.
"Fever, loss of appetite, lethargy and fatigue, stomach pains.. oh.."
"Oh?" Frank questions and turns around from the front. "What is it?"
"Uh.. if not treated right away, death.."
"Jesus, people are dying from this?" You say with panic evident in your voice.
"That's not all.." Kitty starts but is interrupted by Frank.
"Babes watch out!" He yells just as you are about to hit a person walking in the middle of the street.
"Holy shit, what is he doing in the middle of the road like that?" You say after swerving from the man. You stop the car and the three of you turn around to see the man, his skin looks like it's decaying right off of his body. "What the fuck?" You mutter and Frank taps your leg.
"Babes, go." Frank whispers to you, now beginning to worry as the man approaches the stopped car. "Go, now!" He shouts as you slam on the gas, hurrying back home.
"Kitty, what else does it say?" Frank asks and Kitty nods, going back to the article.
"U-uh.. says that after a person has contracted the disease, a-and causes death to the individual, there ha-ave been reports of the infected individual.. coming back."
"Coming back!? What the fuck does that mean?" You say weaving through traffic to try and get back as quick as possible.
"Coming back, l-like zombies?" Kitty asks, looking at Frank.
Frank shakes his head. "Nah, that's impossible. Lemme see that, Kit."
Kitty hands her phone over to Frank for him to read through the alert. He mumbles as he reads the page. "Fever.. stomach pains.. death.. reported cases.. coming back."
"Jesus fuck.. so zombies? Seriously?" You groan. "This feels like out of some cheesy movie."
You pull up to Kitty's house and park in her driveway. "Kit, you gonna be okay? You are more than welcome to come to my house. I dont want you to be alone." You offer but Kitty's shakes her head.
"No, I'll be fine. Patrick should be home soon and I want to be there when he gets here." She says as steps out of the car.
"Alright, well text me if you need me. I'll come back and get you, stay safe please and text me if you hear anything more." You say to her from the window then drive off to Frank's house.
"Do you want me to stay with ya babes? I dont mind. Got nothing at my place anyways." Frank asks and you think for a minute.
"Yeah, okay sure. Do you want to stop at your house so you can get whatever you need?" You ask pulling off into the direction of Franks house.
"Yeah, just a couple things." He says, making a mental list of what all he plans on grabbing.
Pulling up to Franks house, he opens the garage. "Here, park in here babes. You can come inside if ya want."
You pull into the garage and the door closes behind you. Frank pulls out a set of keys and goes to the side door, unlocking it and letting you inside. You are greeted by two dogs happily barking and dancing around your feet.
"Oh, this is Diesel and Lady. Mind if they come along?" Frank says with a grin as you nod.
"Of course Frankie, they are adorable." You smile and find their leashes, clipping them on as Frank goes off to pack up a few things.
Frank grabs a few changes of clothes, a pack of cigarettes, lighter, a guitar, his bong and stash of weed, a deck of cards and a bottle of rum.
"Is that seriously all you're bringing?" You ask eyeing the bag he has packed.
"Yeah, I mean, what more could I need?" Frank grins and grabs the leashes from you, taking his dogs and bag out to your car.
With the dogs secured in the back seat, Frank opens the garage door and you back out. The drive to your house is normally about 20 minutes but you make it there in 10. You open the garage door quickly and pull your car inside, closing the door behind you and guiding Frank and the two dogs inside.
"You can set your stuff down wherever, the guest room is mostly clear besides a few things I've been keeping as storage." You say to Frank as you close the windows of your house.
"Um, well. Make yourself at home, I'm gonna a shower." You say to Frank and he nods, sitting down on the couch and letting his dogs from their leashes.
While in the shower, the gravity of the situation falls on you. Zombies. Actual real life zombies. You arent prepared and your best bet is to stay inside your house with a stoned sandwich maker who only brought a few changes of clothes, weed, and a guitar. Oh, and a deck of cards.
Well. At least he's cute.
You think of any kind of weaponry that you have on hand just in case. Kitchen knives that are probably to dull to do any kind of damage. A baseball bat that you keep beside your bed in case anyone were to break in, maybe you could wrap some wire around it or put some nails in the end. And a pocket knife your dad gave you when you moved out on your own, however, you have no idea where it even is.
You get out of the shower and get dressed in some clean clothes. Looking around your bedroom, you find the bat as well as a first aid kit. You lift your mattress to check underneath and see a small metal box.
Oh shit. You think to yourself as you open the case, feeling the cold metal under your fingers running along the barrel of the gun. You pick it up and check to see if there's any bullets. None.
"Hey babes, im gonna get a show- woah." Frank says as he sees you holding the gun in your hands. "W-why do you have that?" He asks as you set it back in the case.
"Oh, uh, my ex. He um, left it here.. thought I got rid of it after.." You trail off quietly.
"After..?" Frank repeats back to you.
You shut the case quickly and set it down on your bed. "Nothing." You say then go to your closet, hoping to find any ammunition.
"Babes you can talk to me, I promise not to judge ya." Frank says calmly as he follows you to the closet.
You sigh when the box of bullets you find only has enough for one clip left. "He killed himself." You say quietly, voice wavering slightly.
"Oh babes.. I'm so sorry." He says wrapping his arms around you and pulling you in for a hug. You melt under him, feeling his weight coupled with the situation crashing into you. The box of bullets falls and you hug him back, tears flowing from your eyes.
"Shh.. it's okay. I promise I'll protect you." Frank coos softly stroking the back of your head. "I wont let shit happen to you, i swear."
You nod and pull back, looking up to Frank. He offers a somewhat goofy but reassuring smile.
"No tears babes." He says, swiping his thumbs under your eyes and giving you a soft kiss to your forehead. "Now come on, we're safe in here. Let's go relax."
You nod and follow him out, he has already set up his bong and packed a bowl.
"Frankie I told you already, I dont smoke." You say sitting down on the couch.
"Oh bullshit babes, you aren't very good at hiding things." Frank smirks and lights the bong, offering you a hit afterwards.
After smoking for a little bit, you turn on the tv to see if anymore news had developed.
Reports of violent cannibalistic behaviors have been found in patients who have contracted VE-247. A state of emergency is in effect until further notice. At this time we are urging the public to stay indoors for as long as possible. Currently, we are seeing numbers of reported cases well into the thousands. Local hospitals are turning away all new patients as beds are completely full. It is recommended to isolate inside and away from others if you are showing any symptoms. More information can be found at.....
"So they found a name for it then huh? VE-247." Frank says as he finishes off the bowl.
You nod, turning the volume of the tv down. "I think I need to lay down. This is too much." You say shakily standing to make sure all the doors and windows are locked.
"There's uh, pillows and blankets in the closet there." You say pointing to the hallway closet. "Help yourself to any food in the kitchen and if you need me for anything just come get me."
Frank nods to you. "Got it babes, go sleep I'll be right out here."
You nod in response and retreat back to your bedroom. Laying down and feeling exhausted but protected with Frank there, you quickly fall asleep.
About 5 hours go by and you are startled awake by a piercing bang. You jolt awake and sit up in your bed. "Frankie?" You call out into the darkness of your room. When there is no response, you slide out of bed and grab the bat before stepping out into the hallway, your eyes adjusting to the light of the living room.
"Frankie?" You call again, this time you see him. Frank is holding the gun that was previously under your bed, holding it out frozen in place in aim. You follow the line of where he has aimed and you see a body lying dead on the floor of your entryway.
"Oh god." You say softly. "F-Frankie, what happened?"
"Go back to your room babes, its alright." Frank says firmly, lowering the gun. "Go pack some things, we have to leave."
You nod and hurry back to your bedroom to put together a few items. You grab the first aid kit, some clothes and toiletries from your bathroom. Shoving everything into a backpack, you grab the bat again and step back out into the living room to find Frank throwing some food into his bag.
"We cant bring much, but we need food. Do you have any water bottles?" Frank asks as he opens a few cabinets.
"Yeah, bottom shelf there's a bunch of metal bottles." You say going over to show him.
With supplies packed up, Frank gets his dogs situated and you all head out to your car, throwing the bags in the back and securing the dogs. You open the garage door and pull out onto the street.
"Babes, I need you to listen to me. Drive carefully, but do not stop if you can help it." Frank says checking the gun over. "We have about one clip in this."
You nod driving down the road. "Where can we go?"
"We'll have to find somewhere for ammo, maybe a sporting goods store? I don't know much about guns honestly." Frank admits. "We'll also need to find a grocery store that hasn't already been raided."
You look around as you drive, getting further from town. "I cant imagine there's much." You say, losing hope.
"We dont know that yet, go down Berkley, theres a few shops. hopefully we can kill two birds one stone there." Frank says fiddling with the radio.
Pulling into the parking lot, you and Frank head inside along with Diesel and Lady. "Let's stop at the sporting goods store first, get some ammo and maybe another gun or two."
The front glass of the store is busted in and you and Frank step over it, helping each dog around the glass. "We should try to find some dog shoes?" You say looking around at whats left.
"Yeah, good idea babes.. Oh, over here theres a few left." Frank says walking over to the hunting supplies. He finds a few guns and looks around for some bullets. As he is packing what he can fit in his bag, you and the two dogs make your way over to the pet supply.
"Alright Dies, lets find you and Miss Lady a new pair of shoes, yeah?" You look over the supplies that are left, which is a lot. Funny that people seem to go for the more expensive and unnecessary equipment and not things needed for pets.
You pick out shoes, vests and a new collar and leash for each dog and get them dressed in the new attire. "There we go, perfect." You smile to the dogs and turn around to look for food for them.
You find a few bags left and grab those as well as collapsing dog bowls that can be clipped to the vests. "Now we just gotta find you guys some water." You guide the dogs over to the shelves to look for water, only a few bottles left so you grab those and add them to your bag.
You look around for anything else you can find and you hear a few shots ring out. Quickly, you and the dogs run over to find Frank.
"Frank? Oh shit are you okay?" You say catching your breath when you reach him.
"Yeah babes, check these out!" Frank beams at his findings. "There's one for each of us!" He says showing off the guns.
"Okay great, what were you shooting at?" You ask looking around expecting a zombie.
"Just practicing, seein' if they work is all." He grins and hands you a gun. "Oh wow! Look at my babies!" He says excitedly looking at his dogs. "All ready for the apocalypse, huh?"
You smile to Frank, handing over the leashes and putting the gun in your bag. "We'll have to get some food, there's a Wegmans we can get to."
"Alright lets go then babes." Frank says walking you out back to the parking lot. He holds the door open for you but stops you with his arm stretched out. "Wait." He says in a hushed tone.
His dogs start to growl, and you hear a noise. Something that sounds like its dripping. "Frankie?" You ask softly.
Frank pulls the other loaded gun from his waistband and hands you the dogs leashes. "Go back inside. Quietly."
You do as he says and take the dogs back into the store. Shutting the door and watching from the glass, Frank moves to the side to where the noise was coming from and out of your view.
A few minutes go by and nothing happens. You wait for any kind of signal from Frank to let you know its safe to move but nothing comes. Growing concerned, you crack open the door. You barely get a foot out to peek around the door when you hear 3 shots ring out.
Frank comes up shortly after, swinging the door open and tugging you out. "Okay come on babes we gotta go." He says pulling you along back to the car.
"Frankie? What was it?" You ask as he opens the door for you and helps you in.
"There was like 5 of em' i only had three bullets left in the clip." He says and shuts your door after piling the dogs in the back. He gets into the drivers side and shuts the door.
"We can stop for food somewhere else, we gotta get away from the area with how populated it is here." Frank says and starts the car, pulling out onto the road. "Babes have you ever loaded a gun before?"
You nod shakily and Frank hands you the two he has. "Alright, go ahead and load these up then. As many that'll fit, yeah? Put the extra bullets back in the backpacks."
You begin to load the guns with a shaky hand as Frank drives. Dropping a few bullets into your lap, your breath grows uneven.
"Babes.." Frank says, setting his hand on your thigh. "You're safe, just relax and focus on loading those, breathe baby."
You nod and take a breath. Centering yourself and pulling your focus onto the task that Frank had given you. You restart with loading the guns and Frank gives you a sympathetic smile.
"That's it, you got it babes." He reassures as he drives down the road.
"Where are we going to go?" You ask after a little while of driving, the guns are loaded and the dogs are sleeping in the back. Things are calm now on the road but you know it wont be like this soon.
"My grandparents, they have a farm out in South Jersey. We'll go there, hopefully make it by morning." Frank says, rubbing his face.
"You wanna switch? We can if you're tired." You ask seeing how exhausted he is, though you arent much better.
"I'm good babes, you try to get some sleep though. I'll wake you up if I need to switch, yeah?" Frank says with a half hearted smile.
You nod and get comfortable in the seat, looking back to make sure the dogs are okay. Frank pulls a blanket from the back and drapes it over you and you quickly fall asleep, the light bumps of the road and windows cracked making it a perfect setting to sleep in.
You sleep for around 4 hours then feel the car roll to a stop. Groggily opening your eyes, you see Frank stepping out of the car.
You aren't sure if its the cool morning air hitting you coupled with the soft light of sunrise or if you're still dreaming and this has all just been a nightmare, but Frank looks absolutely ethereal when you see him.
Pulling yourself from sleep, you look around to see a wide and open field. There's a small white and black barn in the distance and a matching farm house nearby. Rows of corn and other vegetables and an animal pen or two next to it.
You look back to Frank who is currently pissing on the side of the road, thinking you are still asleep. Well, there goes the etherealness of that.
You step out of the car, scaring Frank. "Oh, shit babes im sorry, didnt mean to wake you up." He says tucking himself back into his jeans.
"You're fine, is this the place?" You ask looking around.
"Yep, Iero farms." Frank smiles and lets the dogs out from the back. He grabs the bags from the back and walks with you to the house.
"And your sure your grandparents wont mind?" You ask as you reach the house.
"Babes, its the apocalypse. I cant imagine they will mind." Frank grins and knocks on the door.
