Bundle of Blues

This blog is run by two people who are big fans of blues music. One of them is blues-sevenfold. I'm primarily into the Chicago/harmonica brand of blues music. My favourite blues artists include: Jimmy Reed, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Muddy Waters, Snooky Pryor, James Cotton, Jerry McCain, Pee Wee Hughes, Joe Hill Louis, Lonesome Sundown, Buster Brown, Billy Boy Arnold, Carey Bell, George 'Wild Child' Butler, Pinetop Perkins, Willie 'Big Eyes' Smith, and Jimmy Rogers - along with some newer blues acts such as Charlie Musselwhite, Kim Wilson, Mark Hummel, William Clarke, Cash Box Kings, The 44s, Studebaker John and The Hawks, Rod Piazza and The Mighty Flyers, Harpdog Brown and The Bloodhounds, and Little Charlie and The Nightcats. I also like a fair amount of hard rock - such as Avenged Sevenfold, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots. I run a Jimmy Reed role play blog at luvsjimmyreed, if you're into that sort of thing. And I'm the other owner of this blog ballerinabarbiex - I mostly enjoy slow & jazzy style blues, but also a little bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists include Elmore James, Bessie Smith, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ivory Joe Hunter, Charles Brown, Curtis Jones, Saunders King, Jimmy Nelson, Leadbelly, Memphis Minnie, L.C. Robinson, Big Joe Turner, & many more - I also like instrumental jazz/blues pieces, such as - Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, & many bop, cool, & modal jazz artists. Jimmy Reed was the first blues artist I became aware of as a youngster. I’d sneak into my older brother’s room when he was out & listen to his records, being real careful to put them right back exactly where I found them. There were healthy doses of Elvis & Chuck Berry, “Hi-Heel Sneakers”, & a really cool song called “Baby What You Want Me To Do” by Jimmy Reed. 

Once I got a little older & I started idolizing British groups like The Rolling Stones & The Yardbirds, eventually I started delving a little deeper & discovered Bo Diddley & bluesmen like Muddy Waters & Howlin’ Wolf. 

Then I came back to Jimmy Reed, & after repeated listenings over the years, somewhere along the way I decided maybe Jimmy was my favorite. There was just something about those repeated rhythms & his nonchalant delivery that just felt right & spoke to me…
