deltarune chapter 5 is releasing tomorrow so i am just rushing to post my main theory cus i was thinking about it for a few weeks (it might be months actually) so i am sorry if there will be any spelling mistakes
so before deltarune chapter 3 and 4 released i was a pretty passionate "papyrus is the knight" enjoyer
which is why i was sad when the knight showed up and it looked like everyone decided that it was either december or carol
obviously i understood why but still
also i got very conflicted and felt insulted cus a bunch of people started posting that "papyrus being the knight was always a joke" and "people who ever believed that theory are naive idiots"
but by that time i have already found many clues that lead me to believe in it which is why i could not be satisfied with such an obvious answer as it just being december cus so many things did not fit so it had to be more complex than that
after some time i eventually doubled down and decided that i was going to prove that "knight papyrus theory" is still possible
so i took a look at the design
the sticks that seem to be antlers on top of the knight's head are the most eye catching
so most people already decided that this means the knight is a deer
but that is the painfully obvious answer so i decided "what if i removed them?"
now that the sticks were out of the way i looked at the rest of the design
the body type is very clearly skeletal and not only that but the chest is much bigger than the pelvis which is exactly the body type of papyrus
there are holes in the hands which is a thing most asosiated with dr gaster and he is often connected with the skeleton brothers (papyrus again)
the legs are very slim at the end which seems to indicate hooves
the possible hooves seem to point to deer but remember that deer are not the only animals to have hooves
we never saw papyrus take off his gloves and boots so it is entirely possible that he has those features
after a little bit i realized that the design seems actually pretty dragonly which i think is a drasticaly different direction from most people just assuming the knight is a deer
this thought interested me right away cus knights and dragons are thematicaly very connected so i went to look for dragon characters from both games
first i found RG02 and right away i noticed that the roaring knight and RG02 both wear spiky helmets and hold a sword in their left hand
what interested me next is that RG02 has a pair of dragon wings on his head much like the roaring knight has those sticks
so i looked for more dragon characters
this dragon seems to have what appear to be a pair of dragon horns
that got me thinking that maybe those "antlers" might acctualy just be weirdly shaped dragon horns just like these
so i kept looking and got to deltarune chapter 1 and saw clover
you can see that clover has dragon horns on all 3 heads but that is not the main thing that caught my attention
what i was caught by was THE TAIL
it is exactly the SAME SHAPE as the roaring knight's sticks
so i thought "what if i gave clover's tail to the roaring knight?"
this edit does not look very good cus i used a basic photo editor instead of an actual drawing app but i think that with this picture my point is proven
my opinion is that this picture is pretty solid proof that the "antlers" were never acctualy antlers but instead THEY WERE DRAGON EARS THIS WHOLE TIME
with this realizeation it became apparent to me this knight looks much less like some deer and much more like a big black ant
this is why those "antlers" are CURVED cus they are NOT ANTLERS BUT INSTEAD ARE DRAGON/ANT EARS
this is why the leader of the chapter 3 dark world is an ANT THEMED TELEVISION MAN
cus it is FORESHADOWING for the roaring knight being an ANT THEMED DRAGON IN KNIGHT ARMOR
my next point is that when people hear about the roaring at the end of chapter 2 their automatic reaction is to assume that the roaring knight is named after it
but "roaring" is the sound that dragons make so it is much more likely that the roaring knight is named that way cus they are a knight and they also roar like a dragon
the first option that came to my mind about this is that these two being named the same is a coincidence but that seems extremely unlikely
my theory is that the roaring is acctualy named after the roaring knight but you are meant to assume it is the other way around and get tricked that way
the roaring titans are named after the roaring <- the roaring is named after the roaring knight <- the roaring knight is named that way cus they are a knight and also loud as hell
dumbass that looks like an ant but gets mistaken for a deer
so now i am going to go on about why it is definitely papyrus
if you are reading this you most definitely already know that papyrus' brother has a pretty famous fight
an attack from that fight is a big skull that fires a big laser (as you obviously already know)
this skull has very dragonly looks
you may or may not know this but even though this attack can currently only be seen in sans' fight it is heavily implied that papyrus' special attack is infact this attack
i want you to look at these two pictures (but ignore that papyrus is being killed in one of them that is not important it was just the first one i found)
both papyrus and the blasters have white eyes with black pupils
sans has white eye lights and one blue/yellow eye but he does not have any white eyes with black pupils
many times in fanart and merch the blasters have blue eyes but that is not canon cus as you can see in the game they are white with black pupils
papyrus and the blasters have same eyes and sans does not which means that sans took the blasters as inheritance after papyrus died in the murder run
the way i see it sans got the blasters from his brother and was the one that ended up getting popular with them while many people just assumed that papyrus does not have them so that might be kind of funny i think
i think papyrus should be allowed to shoot his blasters at the gamers (this has nothing to do with my previous points i just want him to do that)
