well even mexicans prefer light skin to dark skin, calling them prietos and what not. is it only racism in the…
I think its lots of mexicans now a day, they hate being assosiated with anything mexican.. people from a diffrent generation like my parents lets say would more willingly say I accept my heritage for what it is. the problem is us the new generation, we as Latino Americans want to be.. what’s the word here, more Americanized, so yeah that will make lots of people deny their culture and heritage.
Yeah, and I also think it’s really of complicated, too. Because my stepdad is really proud of his Yaqui blood, but my grandmother wants people to know that she’s only half Chichimeca Jonaz and that that gets cancelled out because my grandfather is full Spanish.
so even older people have that as well, its strange how countries can be so far apart from one another but they still have the same type of beauty standards. example korea and mexico they both think the ideal beauty is light skin.
yeah, pero in korea it’s for a different reason, i think. because there it’s a class thing—poor people have to work outside and get dark, rich people get to stay inside and stay pale—but in mexico it’s racial. dark people have more native blood, pale people have more spanish. and spanish people are better
very true, but thats the thing there is no book saying hey you guys having spanish blood is better then being of native blood. what makes mexicans deny their blood lines so much is the question here. why do we put spanish or german blood above our own native one?
