how tragic, that his son’s death would fall almost exactly two months prior to his birthday; waking up that morning, alexander can instantly feel the tense aura throughout the house. hours later, the aura remains, a deafening silence only worsening the melancholy mood. albeit hesitantly, he reaches for his wife ( he begs himself to leave her be, the death of their child still too fresh a wound ). “i’m going to see him–-” he mutters, hardly more than a whisper. “to bring him flowers, for his birthday. would you like to join me?”

     the wounds of this past year alone have snapped dear eliza’s heart in two, and one would have to wonder if it could ever be sewn back together. between those disgusting pamphlets and then her son so foolishly dying because he was so much --too much -- like his father, had almost been too much to bear for the middle schuyler sister. she has been a woman dressed in black for months now, grateful that the ones from the funeral of darling peggy’s funeral still fit. her husband speaks to her, and she can sense his pain, sense that he too is broken by the weight of his actions and the loss they have both faced. a near miracle happens, for eliza looks in the direction of her husband -------- though not directly at him, for the hurt is still to great to look into eyes that so long ago had made a whole heart gallop. there are tears evident in brown eyes, tears that remain as she nods in agreement. 

     “i... i do think philip would rather like that. to see both of us there. he’d...” he’d want to see us doing anything together.
