you with the soft heart, donāt let the world make you cruel.
telling someone how you feel is one of the hardest things ever
Deep Ass Starters.
Sometimes it's hard to get in depth with your muse and their backstory, because you can't figure out how to bring those things up with others. Here are a couple of starters intended to make things a little more personal!
"What's holding you back?"
"I'm not comfortable with this conversation."
"Will you /ever/ be comfortable with this conversation?"
"Let me in sometime!"
"It's not that easy, you know."
"Help me understand."
"It's hard to connect with someone when all they do is push you away."
"Why are you always so cold?"
"Why are you always so happy?"
"Are you really happy now?"
"Who hurt you this badly to make you this way?!"
"What, did your ex mess you up that badly?!"
"Why do you keep fighting it any time you feel?"
"It's a problem, I get it."
"This is all kinds of messed up."
"That's not exactly a good coping method."
"So what happened, with your parents, really?"
"What was your childhood like?"
"Everyone has at lest a little bit of mommy/daddy issues. It's nothing to be ashamed of."
"My parents aren't exactly perfect models, either."
"You were bullied? What for?"
"Was it hard? Coming out, I mean."
"You can't just run away all the time."
"You can't just hide all the time."
"Are you still thinking about them?"
"I'm not the enemy here. But this makes me wonder who the real one is for you."
"Is the reason you're so cold and defensive because you feel threatened?"
"How long has it been since you last spoke to them?"
"You never talk about it, why?"
"How come you're so different around them?"
"It's like you don't have a care or worry in the world."
"You seem so perfect. I don't get it."
"What was your ex like?"
"I don't think I was ever good enough for them."
"Are you not comfortable being intimate?"
"Why don't you feel comfortable being intimate?"
"Letting someone see you that vulnerable, it's a scary thing."
"Are you scared of being hurt?"
"Have you ever been taken advantage of?"
"Why are you afraid of saying I love you?"
"I never understood how someone could say those words so easily."
"You're hurting others the way you've been hurt in the past, don't you think that's ironic?"
"You use people to make yourself feel better."
"I'm scared of being used again..."
"Losing someone isn't easy, but you're making it harder than it needs to be."
"How long has it been since you lost them?"
"You're too attached."
"I'm not attached, I'm just comfortable with what I'm familiar to."
"Maybe the real reason you're so controlling is because, deep down you'd rather have them in your grasp than lose them."
"Why did you ever break up?" / "Why did we ever break up?"

āHmm right yeah complete bastard/bitchā¦wait what were you talking about again?ā Maigale asked looking up from her notebook
Open rp
Maigale swallowed nervously looking at the front door in front of her, she had dropped off the face of the world for almost a year and she had some apologies she needed to give out. The first one being hereā¦
She raised a shaky hand and knocked twice on the door before taking a step back and wrapping her arms around herself. Waiting
Mai was trying very hard not to start crying, she had gone to her and Duncan's old apartment and hadn't even managed to build up the courage to knock on the door to see if he was there or even still lived there. Instead she'd darted off and was hiding around the side of the building, she slid down the wall and curled up into a tight ball. The flood gates opening as she started crying, she wanted to see him. She was just scared to. (Don't know if Duncan's still around but here)
He was coming home from work, going through his mail. As he walked down the hallway, he looked over to where his door was, seeing someone he didnāt think he was going to see ever again. He stayed at the same apartment because he couldnāt get out of his lease. He stopped, looking down at her. āMaiā¦?ā He asked, grabbing his keys.
He listened to the whole story, his head spinning a bit. He ran his palms against the warm mug. It was a lot to take in and he didnāt know what to say. āYou left without any warning. I thought we had an understanding. I thought everything was going good. That you werenāt going to put yourself in harms way.ā He looked up at her sadly, taking a sip of his coffee. āWhy couldnāt you at least tell me? Mention it in code or wrote me a letter? Do you not know how long youāve been gone?ā He took a deep breath, looking over to the window. āIāve- just about given up on seeing you again. I thought you left for good.ā
āI thought i was coming right backā¦i didnāt realize how bad the situation was, if i had i would have told you. It was going good and i, I know.ā she said sadly, her shoulders slumping as she looked down at her lap āI didnāt think toā¦Iāve been gone for almost a year, i know. Iām sorry. I never, I wouldnāt have just gone like that if i was leaving for good. I would have told you beforehand. Not that you knew that before just nowā¦I should have written you a letter, i should have somehow figured out a way to tell you what was going onā¦Iām sorryā
She knew she kept saying that but she was, she was truly sorry. She had no idea how she was going to make it up to him, if he still wanted her around that is.
He looked down at his lap, mixing his coffee with his spoon. āI just- I donāt know what to think right now. What to sayā¦.ā he looked up at her, shaking his head. āIs everything better now? Do you know for sure? Or are youā¦. going to leave again?ā He couldnāt deal with her leaving like that again. It was surreal that she was back, but it hurt to think that she may leave him again. āI- want to be with you again, but I am afraid that you could leave me again and Iāll be left alone to pick up the pieces.ā
āI did just throw a lot onto you, thatās not really too surprisedā she said quietly before glancing at him noddingĀ āEverything is better now and i do know for sure, our godly parents actually stepped in this time so everything is more or less back to normal monster wise. . .No. Iām not leaving again, not if you want me to stayā
When he said he wanted to be with her again, she tried and failed not to get her hopes up. She shook her head, looking up at him
āI promise, i wonāt leave again. Ever, not unless you want me toā she said, sheād do anything to prove that to him

He stayed at the same apartment because he couldnāt get out of his lease. He stopped, looking down at her. āMaiā¦?ā He asked, grabbing his keys.
He made himself a small pot of coffee, boiling some hot water for her tea. Like old times. He kept his head down as he got it ready. He placed the tea bag in her mug, going to placed the mug on the table. He got his own, going to sit so he was across from her. He looked up at her, taking a deep breath. āReady to talk?ā
She went and sat, pressing her hands against her lap as she nodded looking down at her mug. He was going to need a moment after this but she needed to tell him. He could yell at her all he wanted to afterwards, it would be fair if he did.
āYesā She said with a nod before she started talking, wanting to get this over with so he could speak āBefore i left, we spoke about monsters and how they can find us demigods. For some reason there was a spike, more of them were coming back than normal. A lot of demis went to Camp since it was safe there but itās only meant to house so many so. . .some of us volunteered to go on constant quests as a means of getting things we needed and keeping the other demis safe and so there was more room. I was apart of that particular group. It went well for a little bit but we were never completely safe, using phones and going to places that we knew well, places that some of the monsters weād personally beaten before would know about was a risk none of us were willing to take.Ā
Michael didnāt handle that very well and we ended up having to bolt when after he called someone, the place we were staying for the night got attacked. It started to get harder and harder to make it back to camp so we just stopped. More or less been on the run for almost all of the time i was gone. I didnāt want to put you in danger by coming back or calling you before everything settled down which it only has recently. Iām really sorry Duncan.ā

Hearing his voice was both the best and worst thing, she looked up at him giving him aā¦nervous and sad smile. Trying to figure out what she could say
āH-Hiā she said, Hi was apparently the best she could come up with
He smiled back a bit, barley one. He didnāt know what to say. Itās been so long, it felt rusty to smile like this to her. āHiā¦.ā he said softly, looking down at his feet.
She quickly stood up, biting her lip for a moment. Shoving her tears down and trying to think, he deserved an explanation. She justā¦she didnāt know where to start
āDuncan iā¦iām so sorryā She said holding herself back from stepping towards him, her hands beginning to fiddle with the bracelet-whip she still had on her wristĀ āI hadnāt meant to disappear, i wanted to call you butā¦i couldnāt.ā
She hesitantly walked forward a step and tilted his head up, slowly. Clearly scared he was going to tell her to get away and once sheād tilted his head up, she pulled her hand away. Her eyes meeting his
āCanā¦Can i come in? W-We can talk about this over some tea?ā she asked hesitantlyĀ Ā
He looked back at her, not sure what to think. What to say: he was happy to see her, excited, memories coming backā¦. but he was also angry. Upset, sad that she left him so suddenly. Everything was going good andā¦.
āIām having coffee. I can make you a cup of tea.ā He said softly, going to unlock his door. He opened the door wider, lending his hand out to guide Mai to step in first. He walked in after her, closing the door behind him. He pulled his coat off, making his way towards the kitchen. He pulled out the mugs, grabbing her box of tea she left behind.
āAlrightā She said with a small nod, letting out a quiet mumbledĀ āthank youā before she walked inside. Unable to help herself as she looked around, she couldnāt help herself from relaxing even as some heartache popped up. . .this place always had been home for her. She gave herself a moment before going to the kitchen, her hands starting to once again fiddle. She wasnāt sure if he wanted her to start talking now or wait until they had their drinks.
At least him knowing she was a demigod made this easier, sort of.

Valentineās day~
nosefornews :
āWell, I wanted to. I havenāt had a Valentineās Day with another person in a long time. It isnāt too flashy, but I wanted to get you something.ā He pressed his lips to hers, easing back down.
āThank you then and really?ā she asked sounding surprised, she hadnāt known that. Sheās just assumed that him and Alice used to celebrate it before Mai came into the picture. She kissed him back happily as she shivered lightly
