Elijah sensed a hint of dissatisfaction at the other's answers. If the victim wasn't even useful, he usually felt there was more to be gained from manipulation than a corpse. But it was far too late for that now, and Calcifer was already revealing that he would take care of it.

The cloth handkerchief was used, but it was also ruined with it, so Elijah only agreed that it could be burned with it. He didn't need it anymore, he already owned too many anyway if he thought about it that hard.

“I appreciate you wanting to defend my reputation,” came from Elijah and he took a step back, looking from the victim to Calcifer and back again. Then he shook his head briefly. What else was he supposed to be doing here?

“Get rid of the body and meet me at my place later, then we can talk in peace.” As soon as he had said that, the original vampire had disappeared. He knew it wouldn't take Cal long to join him, so he prepared some whisky and made himself comfortable on one of the leather sofas. He swirled the glass in his hand.

Calcifer cleaned himself up with the handkerchief, as best as he could, of course. he would have to shower to get the scent of blood off of him, but for the time being, the handkerchief was enough. he promised to dispose of it along with the corpse, knowing Elijah trusted him at his word and his word he would keep. “i will meet you at your place,” he promises, crinkling the handkerchief in his hands, wadding it into a ball. he blinks and then Elijah is gone. he chuckles a little, eyes rolling fondly- those original vampires were always so dramatic and he appreciates the sentiment. he too enjoyed the theatrics.

turning his attention to the corpse that lay at his feet, he’s quick to dispose of it and the handkerchief, burning them to nothing but ash. once the disposal was taken care of, Calcifer made his way to Elijah’s place- but not before taking a quick shower back at his own home and dressing in clean attire. he wasn’t about to walk back into Elijah’s place covered in the scent of death. he has a reputation to uphold, after all, and he wants to be respectful to him.

nonetheless, it doesn’t take him very long to get to Elijah’s place after the fact. he walks through the door, his hands placed precariously in his pockets as he walks over the threshold. “so, shall we talk?” he says, taking a seat opposite the original vampire, removing his hands from his pockets and placing them on the arms of the chair he sat in, his legs crossed over one another. “i’m ready to begin with any questions you may have.”

He can tell he has disappointed him by the look in his eyes and it causes him to place both of his hands back on the sides of his waist again to let him know he was no longer scared about being rejected. He wanted this; he wanted him and he didn't care how long it would take for Calcifer to allow love to fully reenter his heart, just so long as he remained by his side, which he knows deep down is something he would do, as he didn't strike him to be the type of person to run away when things got tough.

❛Love is a complicated emotion for me too. I have actually lost count on how many times I've gotten burnt by it, over it, and there was a time when I wanted to give up on the idea of love altogether because the person that I wanted to love me wouldn't give me the time of day even though he signed me and my sister's adoption papers that legally made us his children. I think he was afraid of my power and what I would be capable of when I grew up.❜  He notices that there is a piece of fluff next to Calcifer's ear once he has finished speaking and he picks it up with icy cold fingers almost as if on instinct. His heart skips a beat as though it had been electrified and the palm of his hand lingers upon the soft skin of his cheek for far longer than was necessary before he dips his head to kiss him. There is no breath, no air, no world beyond the corners of Calcifer's mouth and reality only crawls back in when their lips finally separate, only for him to kiss him all over again, though this time with less caution. ❛Esti cea mai frumoasă persoană pe care am cunoscut-o vreodată.❜ He says it in Romanian even though he knows that there is a high possibility he wouldn't be able to understand what he is saying but he would translate it into English for him if he asked. He always reverted back to his first language when overwhelmed by things.

Calcifer has suffered at the hands of love far too many times. he had given himself up to love before- had begged his father to love him one too many times, yet it never quite reached his eyes. there’s something to be said about that- about begging to be loved and never receiving it in the way one had hoped. Calcifer was used to being let down; he was used to love rejecting him; to leaving burn marks on everything he’s ever loved . . . he was used to it. hatred he knew what to do with. hatred fueled his heart and kept it pumping long after love had abandoned him. love was a complex emotion that he wasn’t really good with, yet he craved it, as every being on this cold green earth does. he craves love as much as the next one and he’d like to see Lupin give that to him. he thinks that he would if Calcifer only asked it of him.

he hums in consideration, his head cocked to the side as he watches Lupin for a long moment, watching as he picked the fluff from behind his ear, his gaze curious and wanting. “i begged my father to love me,” he told him, honest. “but i don’t think he ever truly did. after my sister died, it changed him. he cheated on my mother and had a bastard son with a widow that he eventually married. i burned him alive in front of the both of them. love hasn’t been so kind to me.” nor has he been to it, he supposes.

when Lupin finally kisses him, Calcifer can’t help but grin. he dips his head in and returns the gesture, kissing him in earnest. he doesn’t need to breathe in order to live, but if he did, he’d be holding it right about now as he took in the flavor that is Lupin. after they break apart, Calcifer chuckles. “i almost didn’t think you were going to do that.” then, he leans back in and captures his lips with his again, but not before murmuring, “i don’t know what that means, but i trust you’ll tell me.” and then he’s kissing him all over again.

"people do love a good doctor," he says with a drawl, laughter in his voice. he'll admit- even he's been charmed by the thought, though perhaps for varying different reasons than any normal person. a doctor could teach him a thing or two . . . he should consider that as he taps his chin, humming. "i enjoy cooking, but i prefer to eat out." there's a joke in there that the other wouldn't catch, his lips twitched upwards into a smile. he shakes his head in amusement as he continues on about Hannibal Lecter. "i suppose you could say i'm a bit like him. see, i don't like rude people, they get under my skin. if i could kill every single one of them, i would. unfortunately, you can't kill every single person you meet. then, people would start looking in your direction. if you're going to kill, you have to do it discreetly. that means leaving a few assholes alive."

Ethan looks at the other man trying to gauge how much of his last words were a joke and how much they were real because if they really had something behind them then he might have just met his new best friend "I'll tell you something, working out in public with people, especially the way I do at the A&E, you get some really rude shit thrown in your direction from a lot of people and if you killed all of them then others would almost certainly come looking into you. I mean, Jesus you have to have one tough skin to be a doctor." He chuckles and tilts his head to the side as he gets a thoughtful look on his face "Of course, when I'm in pain I'm a little cranky too so I put up with it because of that. If I didn't I'm afraid there would be a lot of dead bodies laying around the A&E." Ethan looks at the other man with a grimace "You do know what that drive thru shit does to your insides don't you? I mean, it's not the healthiest stuff to eat on the face of the earth but I know that it's fast and cheap so many people like to eat it instead of cooking... more power to you it's your body man." He chuckles then and gets a neutral look on his face "Oh, I don't know if I'm that good or not though I was born in Boston and that's the place to go if you want to find people with hearts of gold and such nonsense."

oh, most of what he was saying was a joke- but it was true regardless. he enjoys the kill, almost as much as he enjoys the hunt. it delights him, brings joy to watch life fading from the eyes of his victims. there’s nothing more enjoyable to him. that being said, he’s amused at what Ethan says, leaning back against the wall with his leg propped up against it, his arms folding over his chest. “oh, i’m sure you see a lot of weird shit as a doctor,” he muses, head cocked to the side in a curious manner, his tongue darting out to lick at his lips before he continues on. “and don’t worry, that’s not what i meant. i don’t eat a lot of fast food, although the people i do eat probably do. some of them taste like grease. it’s not very healthy.” his smile turns into a wide grin as he looks at Ethan, waiting to see his reaction. he was curious to know what the man thought of what he said- would he take him seriously or think of it as another joke ?? only one way to find out. “so tell me, when a patient dies under your care, how do you feel ?? are you regretful or do you enjoy the power you have over their lives ?? personally, i find that that power has to be delicious. there’s nothing better than having control over someone’s life. to watch as they die . . . it’s a magnificent feeling, wouldn’t you say?”

"Uh... H-Hello there, sir... yur in... my spot." Drake would meekly point out. It wasn't like Drake owned the forest... but he'd like to think he does. Or... at least a part of this forest where no one else would come in and bother him. There's a reason he's hidden himself from his bullies for so long is because as egotistical and mean as they were, they weren't stupid enough to get themselves lost in the forest, meaning Drake had a sacred space to play for hours on end and practice his powers... but this guy didn't seem very friendly.

Then again, Drake didn't trust adults in the slightest. They didn't give him much reason TO trust them. They hurt him time and time again. That's why he came to the forest to get AWAY from adults only to end up with another adult in his special spot in the forest with the river. Drake cautiously moved closer off of the hill sliding down on his bottom and landing onto his heels to approach the river where he pulled out a small baggie with two pieces of toast.

"I'm... jus' gonna feed the fishies, kay?"

Calcifer enjoys the quietness of the forest. it brings him a sense of serene peace that he rarely feels when in the city. as much as he loves being part of the city, he loves the forest more. it reminds him of when he was a boy and used to explore the woods during the day while the rest of the kids were out playing or doing chores- he always found a way to escape into the woods. he never encountered anything scary, but even then, he remained a predator that many beings feared- most animals kept their distance, even then. but then again, maybe that’s what happens when you’re a pyromaniac and light things on fire for no reason. he had a bad habit of setting things on fire in the woods- he always stomped it out and made sure it didn’t get crazy, and he would never burn down the trees or the foliage, but there were things that he’d burn, just to set his little pyro heart ablaze. now, he doesn’t need to do that as much- he sets bigger, better things on fire and he doesn’t go to the woods to find solace in the flame.

however, as he’s sitting there, overlooking the stream, he hears a voice speaking up behind him and turns his head to gaze at the boy that’s greeted him. he cocks his head to the side in curious wonder. who let their child out into the woods ?? don’t they know it’s dangerous ?? he licks his lips and exhales a calming breath as a smile breaks out across the vampire’s face. “this is your spot?” he repeats, tasting the words on his lips. “it’s a nice spot, i can see why you like it.” Calcifer would never harm a child- he’d never even dream of it, but scaring them was a different thing. nonetheless, he had no intention of scaring this boy away from his spot. instead, he turns back towards the stream and watches as a fish jumps up in the air and back down in the water below. “don’t worry, i won’t tell anyone about your secret spot. you can go ahead and feed the fish. i won’t disturb you.” yet he makes no motion to stand up- remaining where he’s seated on the grassy foliage.

She'd grin WIDE and, once the flash had gone off, she rounds the corpse. She'd reach out for the camera. It's old, so it's not like she could look at the picture, but she's sure it's fine. She smooths her dress down, looking at the mess and feeling uncharacteristically BAD. It was quite the mess, still, he'd offered so, she'd ignore the feeling.

Murder was business and business was GOOD. Still, she doesn't share too much. As HANDSOME as eh was, pretty faces are harder to trust and he looks as trustworthy as he is handsome. Still, pretty, shiny things like him held her attention like a crow after tinsel and she'd look him over with shame nowhere in sight.

“it happens to the best of us,” he says with a sly grin. she’s right not to trust him- he’s got a dangerous glint in his eye, like he’s not quite yet done here. however, he hands the camera back after snapping the picture, turning his attention then to the corpse that lay between them. the man was a disgusting pig who kidnapped women and preyed on them. he knew she wasn’t the first and doubted she would have been the last if he hadn't managed to kidnap someone who wasn’t planning his demise. needless to say, Calcifer was otherwise pleased with their ending result. he swipes a finger down the front of the man’s chest, getting a nice swab of blood decorated on it, before sticking it into his mouth. “he tastes like-” he smacks his lips loudly, annoyingly. “-like his mother didn’t love him enough, so he decided all women were the enemy. he probably killed her, too, i reckon. or she died in a care facility, i can’t really decide which one.”

he can feel her eyes on him and he finds himself grinning wider as he gives her attention, wiping his finger on his pant leg like the man’s blood was nothing more than dirt. “we’re around,” he says, shrugging his shoulders. “in your profession, i’m more than certain you’ve met more than just me, you just didn’t realize it. not everyone is as open to what they are as i am- gotta blend in with the humans, after all.” he shrugs again, taking a cautious, slow step towards her. “so what is it that you do exactly ?? how did you plan on getting out of this situation if i hadn’t shown up ?? i’m genuinely curious. and don’t worry, i won’t spill any of your secrets, i’m a historian. i like history. i consider this a side job.”

You have left your house, you have left those people behind, but what are you going to do about the memories which have taken root in you? You can run but not without them. You want someone to sit with you on this cool marble floor while the sun burns everything. You want them to cut your rotten heart and theirs too. You want to sit with it in front of you, let them see you with all your flaws, which haven’t been your fault but you have been made to believe so, and you want them to love you anyways. Because you know you’d do that for them.

Despite Kai's ridiculously high opinion of himself, people rarely came over by themselves or willingly—Calcifer, however, was an exception. It was something new, and exciting, if he could admit it. Even if he removed four fingers from his hand, Kai could still count his friends on that hand. He was one of the few people who did not immediately dismiss his suggestions as a joke, like they were nothing when he truly meant them.

And so, Kai leaned against the cool, granite countertop, the edge digging slightly into his hip, but he barely registered it. He gave Calcifer a soft shrug, a silent remark on the chaotic scene in front of him. Not because he was not impressed, but because he was aware of the exact conclusion of this performance and was happy to watch and wait. "Anything you want. Though gotta say, if you're more of the Lecter typa guy and want a 6 feet blonde chick, we gotta make a stop somewhere. Wouldn't be a big ish but— Lectersagna or Lasagna."

it’s been a while since anyone’s invited Calcifer over for dinner. actually, it’s probably one of the first and only times anyone has invited Calcifer over for dinner. to say he was excited would be an understatement. he happens to like Kai, and spending time with him was a delight- as it always was. he was consistently intrigued with Kai and, in fact, if he could, he’d probably like to study him under a microscope before poking and prodding him and then letting him go just to see what would happen. if he could, he absolutely would. as it is, their friendship is something that means something to Calcifer. he doesn’t have a lot of them either, so he doesn’t take it for granted. he has a lot of fun in Kai’s presence. there’s so much he could do with Kai that had he tried it with anyone else, they would likely freak out and run away. Kai isn’t like that. he makes things exciting and Cal is here for the thrill of it all.

Calcifer considers Kai quietly as he watches him lean up against the counter, almost mimicking his movements, though he’s pressed against the doorframe instead. he licks his lips in consideration, head cocked to the side as if contemplating what Kai says. “Lectersagna, huh ?? that’s a first.” he says, amusement lilt in his tone. he quite likes that; he finds it humorous. “that’s awfully specific though- is there a certain blonde you had in mind or . . .?” his eyebrows raised, he looks at Kai questioningly, his smile not wavering. then, he exhales, crossing his arms over his chest. “how about we do lasagna, and then a blondie for dessert ?? there’s a dish called sanguinaccio dolce that i’d like to make for you in return. it’s typically made with pig blood, but you know, i suppose in a way, it still is.”

Rosie had been busy all day. She visited her mom and the mental institution, worked at the local convenient store, taught karate lessons, and now she was heading home. Pure exhaustion overtook her as she had to stop walking to sit down on a bench. Rarely did she get this exhausted, but nowadays especially around this time of year things were more intense.

However, it got darker earlier now so she was more alert. That’s when she noticed that she wasn’t alone. She noticed someone else on the street.

She smiled slightly at the stranger, despite this if this stranger tried anything she would fight back. Her hand gently touched the pocket knife hidden in her bag. Though she was tired very tired and probably wasn’t strong enough to fight. Especially after the long ass day.

But maybe just maybe her anxiety and fear was getting the better of her after all it wasn’t the first time this has happened. “Long night huh?” She said softly looking at the stranger close by. Wanting to come across as relaxed trying to slightly calm herself.

Calcifer enjoys a good nightly stroll. night was drawing on him fast as he left his house, excitement in his step. in fact, that’s all this is. he wasn’t out hunting; he wasn’t stalking anybody- he was simply existing to exist. it’s the best time to go out for a walk because while it is cooler now that it’s winter, it’s quiet and no one else is ever around as day turns into night. besides, he enjoys watching the sunset, his sunglasses peeled off of his face as he watches it descend into nighttime. the moon rises and suddenly it’s just him and the night, walking with his hands in his pockets as he wanders down the street, pleased to be able to take in a breath of fresh air and know that he’s alone.

that’s when everything changes and his attention gets pulled to a young woman, surprise etched on his face for a moment as he looks at her, pausing in his step as he walks. he hadn’t been expecting anyone to be around, but she’s on a bench, looking rather pensive, and maybe a hint scared- he’d smile to show that he was no harm, but he felt as though that in itself was harmful. she clearly didn’t trust his intentions as he walks nearer and nearer to the bench.

then, he hears her and his head cocks to the side in quiet wonder. “pardon?” he questions, his tongue darting out to wet his lips. he finally offers a gentle smile, something he hopes isn’t terrifying. as much as he’s a predator, he wasn’t looking for someone to chase tonight. although that could change in an instant, his intentions for the moment were pure. “it’s only just begun,” he continues with a shrug of his shoulders. “i’d say it’s a quite beautiful evening, in fact.” he pauses then, a furrow in his brow as he looks at her, his hands slipping out of his pockets in an effort to appeal to her instincts- to show her he meant no harm. “shouldn’t you be home ?? it’s getting late. it isn’t safe for you to be out here alone.”

emery starts to stir from his state of unconsciousness. he tries to open his eyes, but he quickly closes them; the light hurting them enough to make him groan. even before cal saved him, emerson was forced to wear a blindfold for two days. any tiny amount of light was harsh on his eyes. he cries out as he tries to turn over on his side, his injuries making it difficult to move.

move. he can move.

he tries again, but the pounding in his head and the weakness he felt makes him cry out. his hands pound against whatever he's laying on. when his hands hits the soft mattress, emerson slowly realizes he's in a different place. panic starts to build in him. he can hear footsteps near him. with his eyes refusing to open, he can't see who it is.

"no... no... please! don't hurt me anymore. please!" emerson screams, arms shooting up in the air as the footsteps sound too close for comfort. "leave me alone!"

Calcifer was concerned for Emerson’s wellbeing and much to his chagrin, he was seriously contemplating contacting his family- to reach out and see if they could lend a guiding a hand in what to do. logically, Calcifer knows he should just take Emerson to the hospital and have them treat him for his wounds and trauma, but then they’d start asking questions and those questions would be directed at Calcifer and he really can’t explain to them that he’d been kidnapped by a group of rogue vampires who wanted revenge on him- that just wouldn’t go over very well and they’d likely try to lock him up for something he didn’t actually do. that begin said, Calcifer was stumped. he didn’t know what path to take here. but watching Emerson now, he’s worried that he’s broken- that this experience has ruined him, and that he’ll never be the same person again. realistically, Calcifer should just drop him off at his house and let his family take care of him while Calcifer disappears, but Calcifer is selfish and doesn’t do that.

when Emerson calls out against him, telling him to leave him alone, not to hurt him anymore, he feels his heart twinge in his chest. it hurts to see him like this. carefully, his feet make it to the edge of the bed and he kneels down next to him, his voice soft as he speaks. “i’m not going to hurt you, Emerson. no one’s going to hurt you ever again, i can promise you that. you’re safe here. you’re with me now. and nothing is going to hurt you.” he promises with a conviction he feels blossoming in his chest. he was going to hunt those vampires down. it was foolish of them to contact him at all, because they’ve left a trail. even if they took the pictures on Emerson’s phone, it doesn’t matter. Calcifer had their scent and he was going to destroy them for ever laying a finger on his human.

softly, Calcifer runs a finger down the side of Emerson’s face- a gentle touch. “i’m going to give you something now, okay ?? it’s going to make all this go away.” he lifts his hand away and pulls it to his mouth where he takes a bite out of his wrist. when blood pools from the wound, he places it above Emerson’s mouth, letting it drip into it. “drink. it’ll heal you, i promise. then, when you’re better and you feel up to it, you can tell me what happened and i can assure you, it’ll never happen again.” he’s going to kill every single one of them.
