Dusky Shark (Carcharhinus obscurus)✨ It's found off the coast of America, because of its large size, it's dangerous to humans (we remember what happened in 1999), and its skin shines red in the sun. So I think it fits Schlatt pretty well :3

Percy and Bucky showed up dressed as Morticia and Gomez Addams—Bucky in an immaculately tailored suit with a sword by his side, and Percy in a high-necked black shirt and long black skirt, regrettably reporting that he didn’t have the cleavage for the dress.

They mean so much you have no idea, they're so feral for each other, to a level I can only dream to achieve.

“Go kiss your boyfriend.” She snapped under her breath as she passed by on her way to the kitchen.  “You know what? I think I will. Excuse me.” He stood up, ignoring her horrified look, and walked right over to where Percy was speaking with Tony, draping himself over his back, hands settling over his stomach. “Cara mia.”  Percy leaned back into him. “Mon cher,” He returned.  Bucky pressed his lips to the side of his neck, and, in one smooth motion, he bent over to secure an behind Percy’s knees, and stood, lifting Percy with him.  “Night, Tony.” Was all he said, leaving an absolutely stunned billionaire behind. Stephen, too, looked astonished. “Is that normal?” Tony dropped his head into his hands. “For them? Absolutely.”

It's not all that shocking I loved Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson books, I suppose. Considering that the first novel series I ever read was William Joyce's Guardians of Childhood (books 1 to 4, because 5 didn't come out until long after I'd stopped caring), I don't think it's shocking I moved from Holiday folklore to books about old pantheons and stuff. It feels like a natural progression for me. It went from The Miser Brothers and Santa and stuff into Zeus and Poseidon and Hades and everything. A decently natural progression.

It isn't too shocking that I can't actually read the Odyssey or the Iliad, though. Just like The Bible, anything written before 1800 is basically a lost world to me. I can't understand old english for Shakespeare, so why would I understand similarly archaic writings that had to be translated into old english? I wouldn't. The really old classics are dead to my mind, and I can live with that. I don't mind.

Remarkably, though...I'm amazed nobody calls out our veneration of Santa and the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy as anything but modern folklore and possibly a new take on polytheism. The holiday icons are basically just a pantheon of gods at this point. Christmas alone has like 50 different gods and mythical beings surrounding it. We have different icons in different countries and yet the idea of a winter holiday involving themes of generosity see.s to have spread almost globally. It's fascinating.

As someone who's read mythology stories and isn't big on modern religions, I kind of wish Santa and the Easter Bunny could just supplant Jesus and steal his religious holiday away from him. Easter might be the holiday with the best stories outside of Christmas, because it's got the Easter Bunny and it's got similar themes of charity to Christmas. It's basically just Christmas if it was in the Spring. We have a deity for the winter solstice and the spring solstice now. But where's our summer and autumn deities? I don't want anything for Halloween. So I think we may have room to create two new holidays and two new holiday beings.

I think it'd be amazing to create a new holiday. Something like Christmas and Easter, only more centralized on summer and autumn occasions. We can't let spring and winter hog the joy.

PS: The fact that Santa has like 50 different origin stories and dozens of different names and sidekicks and what not, yet we all still know the stories of the kindly gift bringer in winter...he is just a god at this point. I think that's basically impossible to deny. What else do you need for godhood? We basically worship him with rituals. We wrote devotionals via music and film. Santa is just a new god. All this time he's been there, and we've never even thought of how we've basically turned him into a figure almost just as big or bigger than half the real modern religions. Santa is symbolic of modern godhood.
