“Uh more like some wrong turns apparently.” Gabriel frowned,”And for sure in the wrong place at least I wasn’t heading anywhere special.” He brushed off his jacket a moment.

Gabriel nodded,”Dean right.” He trailed off a moment before shaking his head,”Even stranger than anything else I’ve said what year is it?”

"Uh...2017?” He said, trailing off and frowning slightly at the other. He’d guessed hungover...but maybe this was something else. At least he was a trained emergency worker now. And a hunter but let’s not talk about that.

He’d followed the guy right up to the cellmate part, and then he’d lost him. A mark was a pretty firm no, along with the already met part. The cell was iffy but he wouldn’t put getting arrested at some hippy rally past Sam, if he was being honest with himself. The kid was too gung-ho on the civil rights thing as it was….or whatever it was he talked about half the time. Hey, he was a big brother, it was his job to zone out the boring crap while looking supportive.

The vessel part went right over his head, and he didn’t bother to look up to see it fly by. There was too much going in right in front of him. “Uh, I think you got me confused with another Dean, dude.” He smirked. “Never met ya before in my life.”

He rolled his eyes at the other with a scoff, waiting a few seconds so Dean could call the joke off. Lucifer’s smirk faded a little as he realized Dean was serious and he would’ve reached out to do a quick mind scan but he figured the Dean from this dimension - or timeline, sometimes he forgot, wouldn’t have welcomed it.

Lucifer decided to play along, scratching his light stubble in feigned confusion. “Hm, so maybe I do, heh. Sorry then for the mix up.. Dean.” A polite grin with a bit of mischief surfaced to his face as he reached out a hand to the Winchester. “Heylel, it’s Hebrew but you can call me Nick.” He gave a slight shrug.

If Dean had any idea what was going on he may have put more significance in the term ‘shaking hands with the devil’ but since he didn’t reaching out to do so didn’t cross his mind as odd. if anything...this guy in front of him was the odd one, but he figured he could overlook that if he got everything else ironed out. 

“No problem.” One eyebrow raised briefly at the introduction. “Nick like short for nickname or is it a translation?” He asked with a teasing smirk.

“Met before? I don’t think so, I definitely would’ve remembered a pretty face like yours, sugar.” She did sort of look familiar, he hoped he wasn’t calling this wrong.

See, she’s feelin’ the same way, she would have definitely remembered a jaw line like that. And yet– Something about the way he talks, how his lips quirk, it all screams of something vaguely familiar. She just couldn’t put her finger on it.

“Likewise, darlin’. Must be wishful thinkin’ then.”

Wish granted, looks like it’s your lucky day.” Dean flashed that grin of his, the one that nearly every woman was greeted with at one time or another. “I’m Dean.”

“You can if you asked nicely.” Dean slipped back, with the practiced ease of someone who flirted with the level of skill that suggested frequent use. He smiled, more because he was enjoying himself than because he knew what effect it could cause. “I’m not a mechanic though, but I gotta admit I love my baby.”

“Your baby?  Your car is your baby?”  She threw back her head and laughed.  “Sorry!  Sorry, I shouldn’t laugh.  That’s actually kind of sweet.  And, uh…. define ‘asking nicely.’  With regard to your hands.”  She grinned, letting her fingertips slide across the back of one of his hands. 

“I guess I shouldn’t point out I meant that as an endearment than anything else.” He’d wax poetic about the beauty of his car, but doing that put a bit of a damper on the whole flirting thing. Let’s not talk about it anymore. “How about...you show me what nicely looks like, and I’ll see if it hits the right note.” Dean suggested, turning his hand over so her fingertips brushed his palm and fingers instead.
