        she lays on her bed, paying only partial attention to the youtube video playing on her phone as she watches the snow fall through her window. her apartment is often empty — perks of living without a roommate, duh — but it somehow feels emptier knowing that her best friends are currently enjoying their night with family and friends. while she normally wouldn’t hesitate to shamelessly crash anyway, she feels like interrupting a holiday celebration just wouldn’t be fair. but she can’t ignore the hollow feeling in her chest, and if she doesn’t figure out how to fill it soon, she thinks it might eat her alive. 

        there has to be someone else who’s not busy too, right? there’s no way everyone she knows is  — oh. oh, yeah. 

        ophelia wonders how she didn’t immediately think of him.

        she rolls over onto her stomach, exiting the video and opening up her imessage app. gnawing on her lip, ophelia opens the familiar contact, hoping that her gut instinct is right.

      THE REMAINS OF     a  gift  long  past  opened  surround  him  as  he  sits  cross  legged  on  his  couch.        in  his  hand  is  an  action  figure     (  rare;  a  collectible  )     that  only  momentarily  made  fred  forget  that  it  was  only  bought  as  consolation  for  a  visit  that  was  supposed  to  happen.        his  parents  tried  to  make  it  home  in  time,   but  there  was  snow,   and  everything  was  unpredictable.         so  it’s  easier  for  him  to  stick  to  the  familiar  things  rather  than  dwell.       one  of  his  favorite  avengers  movies  is  on  the  mega  screen  television,   but  he’s  begging  something,   ANYTHING   to  take  his  mind  off  it.  

             and  lo  and  behold,   the  ding  of  his  phone.       as  if  a  predator  attacking  prey,   fred  pounces  on  the  opposite  end  of  the  couch  where  it  sits,   knees  knobbly  and  behind  in  the  air  as  he  devours  the  incoming  messages.          “  oh...  “       it’s  too  good  to  be  true.

        much to the chagrin of his           teammates,   fred  is  exactly  the  type  to  stop  mid  battle  and  ask  someone,  friend  or  foe,  all  kinds  of  questions.    in  his  defense,  though,  this  guy   DOES   appear  to  be  on  their  side   -   so  it  would  be  in  their   best  interest   for  them  to  get  to  know  him.   fred  nimbly  dodges  whatever  attacks  he  needs  to  while  keeping  on  bunnymund’s  trail,  one  kaiju  suit  claw  raised  to  his  chin  in  thought.

    “    y’know,  considering  that  you   ARE   significantly  lacking  in  the  horns  and  long  tail  department,  that  does  make  sense.  ”       another  jump  to  the  side.    fred  considers  his  options.     “  -  but  it  is  a   VERY   interesting  choice  to  fight  crime  in  a  bunny  suit  !    and  it  looks    suuuuuuper   duper  realistic.   good  on  you,  man  !   ”
