I draw a pony comic and after only 70 pages I feel like I’m getting bored of drawing ponies. How have you stayed motivated to draw cats after almost 100 pages ?

How do you keep it interesting for you?

I love drawing cats, I've been drawing them since I could hold a pencil, and I likely always will. WLB is my second cat comic, and I have a third cat comic planned as well. I like cats!

It's hard to give advice about this, because everyone has different things that may work for them. Some people prefer to push through rough art motivation patches, some will take a hiatus when they need a break, different things will work for different folk.

Having a second project could help. I do have multiple comics, and if I do get a little exhausted of one, I work on another. Follow your art fancies.

I think my main worry about comic boredom would be with getting bored of the story itself rather than drawing the cats, but I avoid this by writing as I go. I only have a plot outline, everything gets written in detail only a few chapters ahead of time. Comics take a very long time, if I were drawing the same script I wrote 7 years ago I would not be happy.

I also think, that there is no shame at all in just dropping a comic you are no longer invested in. There is only so much time to create. If something is not sparking joy, I would put it on hiatus and see how you feel in a little while.

If I did not enjoy drawing WLB, I wouldn't be doing it.
