30 of Vincent van Gogh’s Best Quotes
culturenlifestyle:
In honor of Vincent van Gogh’s birthday, we have compiled a list of the tortured artist’s most emotionally charged and inspirational quotes. Having sold only one painting during his lifetime, Van Gogh rose to fame after his death. He suffered from a chronic neurological condition which often provoked recurrent seizures. Although he endured deep bouts of depression, his artistry never faltered. While in an asylum in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France, he composed his most famous work, “Starry Night.”
His art often chronicled his mood. Deeply emotional and moody, Van Gogh’s signature brushstroke technique was a reflection of the inner turbulence he contained. After an attempted failed suicide, Van Gogh passed away 2 days later at the age of 37. His brother Theo claimed that Vincent’s last words were “La tristesse durera toujours” (the sadness will last forever.) As one of his closets friends, Theo and artist, Paul Gauguin were his source of strength. Most of the quotes below are excerpts from heart-felting and tender words Vincent wrote to his most beloved confidants.Â
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” — Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG
“My only anxiety is, how can I be of use in the world?” — Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG
“I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say, he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.” —  Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG
“I am unable to describe exactly what is the matter with me; now and then there are horrible fits of anxiety, apparently without cause, or otherwise a feeling of emptiness and fatigue in the head.” — Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG
“Though I am often in the depths of misery, there is still calmness, pure harmony and music inside me.” — Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG
“I take great care of myself by carefully shutting myself away.” — Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG
“But what I wanted to say is this: After the period of melancholy is over you will be stronger than before, you will recover your health, & you will find the scenery round you so beautiful that you will want nothing but paint.” — Vincent van Gogh | REBLOG

666 Supernatural Things | Jensen Ackles → [67/666]
"I’m not Mr. Debonair Suave. I’m just a regular boy who goofs around, pulls pranks, and makes jokes. That doesn’t sound very hot to me."
An intelligent human would ask the question, “Why are our governments completely ignoring the Japanese Nuclear Meltdown from the #fukashima reactor? The Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) admitted enormous leaks of radioactive water are pouring into the Pacific Ocean. What is the worse is the water leakage everywhere else - not just from the tanks TEPCO is storing of radioactive water. It is leaking out from the basements, it is leaking out from the cracks all over the place into the groundwater. Nobody can measure that. They are entering the oceans at levels that then will accumulate in seafood and will cause new health concerns. This is a disaster. The Japanese are asking for immediate help. No foreign bankers seem to care. They’re too interested in starting WWIII. Obama’s got no control of the White house. And millions of people have no idea of anything going on outside of TV Land. Those who act unreasonable get the government they deserve. People gotta come together with the wisdom out there if you expect to survive with goodness for all. Point blank. The end is always on its way. Life is finite. It is our duty to uphold the Universal Law, “The Will to do Good.”
OH MY GOD. REBLOG THE SHIT OUT OF THIS. I HAD NO IDEA!
No yeah seriously this is a thing
Apparently OP was too distracted by being self-righteous to notice that’s an energy map showing the core of the 2011 tsunami and the way the intensity of it spread. It has nothing to do with the contaminated water leakage.Â
Do y’all even read what you reblog? OP claims there’s no way to measure how much contaminated water has leaked, but you really think they’ve been able to map its spread in the ocean by concentration? I can’t.Â
Here’s what you need to know:Â
The plant is leaking from the basement and trenches where water flows while being pumped into storage tanks—leaks that happened during the initial tsunami; it’s also leaking from some of the earlier, hastily constructed storage tanks. The initial leaks are a Level 1 incident; the first 300-tonne tank leak is a Level 3 incident.
We don’t know how much of the contaminated water has seeped into the ground or reached the ocean, but the water and fish around the plant are contaminated. The contaminated water is primarily concentrated in the bay itself, rather than showing signs of dispersing into the Pacific, though there are a few sediment hot-spots further out.Â
No one is twiddling their thumbs. TEPCO was already working on multiple plans to stop the initial underground leaks into the bay. The Japanese government has just taken over the cleanup efforts, and have multiple plans to both cleanup and decommission the plant.
The Japanese authorites aren’t “asking for immediate help,” but they are open to it where needed. The IAEA is already standing by to help.
It’s a very, very serious situation which should have been monitored by inspectors more diligently. But it’s also about as under control as it can be right now.
And it’s good to be informed, but, whether you’re talking non-stop about twerking or about the leaks, it does absolutely fuck-all for the actual situation at Fukushima. But, hey, talking about the leaks sensationally is a great way to seem like you’re not as much of a pop culture-obsessed asshole as the rest of us, right?
