“A forever fairy tale!” She cheered,”It’ll be great! Cute clothes, dancing all the time doing contests! And we won’t have much longer ta wait! I can feel it!” Because you guys already talked about your eggs moving. 

“Oh we should practice autographs together one day! I’m sure that’ll come in handy quick.” 

“Oooh! I have a spare sketchbook! We should do that tomorrow!“ Kaylee cheered!

Rin stayed still as her make up and hair was messed with. She awed at herself in the mirror, and took a quick selfie, before following Liechi. She slowed down as she approached, a bit embarrassed by the sudden wardrobe upgrade. She was soon distracted by the offer to dance.

“Of course! I’d love ta!” They started dancing, and Rin spoke up again after a moment,”Thank ya so much fer this, Liechi! I feel like I’m in a fairytale!”

It was normal for her, and that was hard to forget! But still! 

“Just think about when your an idol!“ Kaylee cheered, “Then every night will be like tonight!“

“Make me even prettier, kay?”She said, sitting on the stool. “I hope so! Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could really meet some coord’nators ‘ndidols i-r-l! Although, we can’t really ask for autographs in a nice ball like this, huh?” It wouldn’t stop the fact that meeting them would be exciting!

It didn’t take too long for them to finish Rin’s make up... though when the hairstylist arrived, she was quick to ‘touch it up’ aka... fix it, before doing Rin’s hair. 

Before long though, Kaylee was hurrying back towards the Ballroom. The sounds of people celebrating and dancing the night away was like a beacon calling her loudly!

“Wanna dance?“ She cheered!

“Are ya sure?” She spun around in the dress and smiled. She definitely wouldn’t say no to keeping this dress.

She nodded her head,”Yeah, if ya want, ya can?” Why did that come out like a question. “I don’ mind.”

Kaylee quickly jumped off the bed and hurried over to a large vanity table, “Okay! sit on the stool!” She cheered, as she opened a drawer to fetch her make up!

“Do you think there’ll be any famous coordinators downstairs for us to meet downstairs?“ She asked. as she continued to pull out different make up sets, “Like, Idols and stuff?“

Rin let herself get pulled along by her friend. She wiped at her eyes as her friend went into the closet and pulling out a dress.

“I can…wear this?” She asked, hesitantly accepting the dress. She went to try it on. She came back to the room proper, still holding the messed up dress, and looked in the mirror,”Woah! This is…Are you sure I can wear this?” She patted her head,”Hairstylist? You have one here?”

“Of course you can!“ Kaylee had already called one up while Rin was changing, “You can have it if you want! I’ve got lots!“ 

She sat down on the edge of her bed, and clapped her hands, “Oh! Can I do your make up while we wait?”

“Really? Thank you so much!” The light purple ankle length maxi dress she was wearing right now was the nicest dress she owned. It wasn’t a ballgown or anything super flashy compared to the other people there, but she hoped she didn’t seem too terribly out of place. You look gorgeous Liechi!”

“Oh! My egg was shaking earlier too! It’s so exciting that we’ll get to see them soon!” While she was talkig to Liechi, she was openly aweing at the ball. She was so distracted that she didn’t notice there was a problem, until she was covered in red wine.

Rin froze, staring down at her dress. That was her best dress. Did her best dress just get ruined? Her vision grew blurry as tears gathered in her eyes. The person who had knocked their glass off, apologized, but it didn’t really register to her. What did was that the dress was 3 month’s allowance worth and now it was messy.

Kaylee stuck her tongue out at the man as he turned and walked away, and turned back to look at Rin, “Awe, Rinny! Your dress!” She paused for a moment, and looked her up and down, “I know just the thing!” 

She grabbed Rin’s hand, and turned around to run back towards the Grand Staircase, and towards her room. She rushed past the curious faces of the Staff as they went too and from the Ballroom with food, refreshments, and so on, and right up to the Royal Quarters of the Castle. She didn’t stop until she was safely in her room. 

There, she finally released Rin’s hand, and ran straight to her oversized walk-in closet, “It’s in here somewhere... here it is!”

She pulled out a modest ballerina-esque pink Princess gown, with a flowing skirt, and a lacy top. 

“Here you go! Try this on, and I’ll get a hairstylist up right away!“ Kaylee beamed!

Welcome to the New Years Ball, @jiaaycu!

“Now announcing, her royal highness, Princess Kaylee!“ 

Kaylee exited through the doors, and onto the balcony with her head held high. She absolutely loved events like this! She wore a beautiful, Princess style, ballroom gown that poofed out around her waist with lots of tulle lining underneath to give it that beautiful poof, and wore a beautiful jeweled ribbon in her hair. It didn’t matter to her one bit that she was the youngest, and therefore introduced after her sisters. For her, any excuse to wear a fancy Princess Gown was a joyous occasion to her! 

As soon as the family dispersed and started down the stairs to mingle, dance, and eat, Kaylee started down the stairs as well. She used the handrail to guide her down, since she couldn’t see her feet, and hurried over towards her friend, who she had spotted in the crowd. 

“Rinny!“ She cheered, before giving her friend a hug, “You look so...“ Be nice, Kaylee, “...nice?“ She added after a pause, and pulled away to grab her friend’s hands, “Guess what? The Egg started shaking! Mom said it will hatch in a few days in the incubator, and then we can go to Kanto!“

“I dunno. They probably need heat or something… We should ask-” No they weren’t going to ask Mila now,”-uhm…Dad. Maybe he’ll know. Do eggs take a long time ta hatch?” She hoped not. She didn’t even think of the possibility of missing because they didn’t hatch on time before that.

“I would say we should go find him now, but maybe we should give our moms a few more minutes so they don’t think we’re snooping.”

Kaylee wanted to snoop so badly though... but Rin was right, snooping now would only get them in trouble. Instead, she looked down at her Egg, “My parents would know too!” 

She shifted about impatiently, “Awe! I wish they’d just hatch right now so we didn’t have to wait!”

Rin’s room was…a mess. Or in her words, organized chaos. There was a path to the bed and to the closet, some space near her tv, and a little bit more room than that, but by the edges she had stuffed animals, books, Dvds, and magazines piled on the floor

“It’s hard ta believe that they’d to such a thing…”Rin sighed,”But yeah…We have our own pokemon.” She sat her egg down on the bed and slapped her cheeks to snap herself out of it. “Yeah, we have our pokemon! Ah~ What d’ya think’ll hatch from ‘em? I bet mine’ll be so cute!”

Kaylee sat herself down in the pile of stuffies, and placed her Egg on her lap, “I bet mine is going to be really pretty!” She squee’d and held it up to take a look at it, “I hope they hatch in time!”

She took the condemming ribbon off the Egg, “Do we need to... wrap it in blankets or put it under a heat lamp or something to get them to hatch faster?”

“Maa, that is a surprise!” Akari started,”They weren’t hurt were they?” She had just seen them, but she was still worried,”I don’t mind if Rin keeps the egg, but I would like to discuss more about- hold on.” 

She walked toward the door, and as Rin heard the footsteps, she got up and pulled at Kaylee’s sleeve, hissing,”We’ve been made, run!” With that, she was off and running towards the stairs. A moment later the door would open to see if Kaylee and Rin were still there.

Kaylee startled as Rin grabbed her, and hurried off with her. Luckily, they made it from the door safely, before Rin’s Mom opened it. 

She clutched her new Egg gently in her arms and sighed. This was it! They were finally Trainers! They each had their own Pokemon! Well, soon... they had to wait for it to hatch first...

“I am worried about Mila... but... I am so, so happy we have our own Pokemon now!“ Kaylee said, as she tailed after Rin!

Rin walked beside Kaylee as they got to the house. She was back into thinking mode. Was she in trouble? Did her farm do something bad?? She felt like she was in trouble even though she knows she didn’t do anything this time!

Rin’s mom answered the door, “Your Majesty, come in! Come in!” She stepped back and gestured for them to come in,”Thank you for bringing Rin home.”She led them to the dining room. It was sparsely furnished, mainly just a large table surrounded by chairs in the center of the room. She hesitated a moment,”But, if I may be so bold, There’s something on your mind? I’m sure the children can go play upstairs, so you can speak your mind.” She gave her daughter a look.

“Oh right! Liechi, have I showed ya my drumset yet?” Rin asked, pushing her friend out of the room.

“Wait here a sec,”She whispered before sneaking off into the kitchen to get 2 cups. When she came back, she handed one to her friend, and set hers on the door,”I saw this in a show once.”

“Thank you for your time.“ Mom replied, as they were welcomed in. She waited until both Kaylee and Rin entered the house, before tailing in after them, “I won’t be long, however, there is something we should discuss.“ She also gave Kaylee a glance as Rin’s mother looked at her.

Kaylee however, started to protest at the thought of being told to leave, but gave in as Rin mentioned the drumset, and tailed along after her. 

Oh! So that was Rinny’s plan? She smiled, and grabbed her own cup. She was also eager to know what was going on. Almost immediately, she heard her Mother’s voice through the door.

“I apologize for the sudden arrival, but I figured I should tell you in person.“ She heard her Mom say, “It appears the girls were involved in an incident today, where they discovered a local farm that was abusing their Pokemon. I did not want them involved any further, so I took them both from the scene, and drove Rin home. There may possibly be a large-scale Pokemon seizure, so I let both the girls take one Egg home with them. She can keep it, with your permission, and I will be happy to answer any questions.“

Kaylee bounced up and down. They could keep the Eggs! That was wonderful!

Rin grabbed the star egg she wanted earlier and her jacket and followed Kaylee out to the car. As she left the barn, she looked back at Mila for a second and then to the ground. 

She was quiet in the van, unusual for the hyper farm girl, but it was a bit unreal to her. Looking down at the egg in her lap, she noticed that it still had the red ribbon on it. If they hadn’t found out what was going on today, this egg would’ve been killed. Mila would’ve killed it. 

Growing up, she always thought Mila and Emil were super cool. That raising and breeding pokemon like they did was so much better than farming potatoes like her family. But they killed pokemon? They-

Her train of thought was cut off when Kaylee spoke up,”Huh? Oh uh yeah,”She made herself smile back,”We do.” 

“We saved them. We saved them and we’re going to Kanto!”She got a little more excited about that. She looked up to see her own family’s farm come into view. It was a rather large 2 floor wooden house, the wood on it painted white. Neatly trimmed hedges were lined up in front of the screened in porch and a tree with a tire swing was in the front yard. Behind the house was another, smaller wooden building. What can be seen of the fields behind that were empty.

“Thank you for the ride, Your Majesty.”

Mom parked the van in the driveway, “You are more than welcome, Rin.” She undid her seatbelt, and opened the door. Kaylee tilted her head, “We’re stopping?” “I just need to speak with Rin’s parents for a minute.“ Mom replied, “We won’t be long.“  “Oh... well then... can I just stay over with Rin?“ Kaylee asked.  “As long as it’s okay with Rin and her parents.“ Mom replied. “Yay!“ Kaylee replied, and hurried from the van. 

She followed behind her Mother up to the front doors, and watched as she rang the doorbell. Mom probably knew Rin could just walk right in... and Kaylee couldn’t count the times she just did that, but Mom seemed to be in ‘official mode’. 

“I can’t wait to see the looks on your brother’s faces when they see you’ve got your own Pokemon now!“ She giggled, as she waited for Rin’s parents to answer the door. Her own brother was going to flip! Well, one of them. The other was currently still at the farm.

Everything happened so fast that Kaylee wasn’t quite sure what happened. Shortly after Chiyo, Rinny, and herself started collecting Eggs, the barn door had opened up, and her older brother, Komadori, came in to question Chiyo. He pulled her aside, and almost right after that, her Mother walked in, and told them they were leaving immediately. Kaylee almost wanted to stay and see what was going to happen, but her Mother refused. She let both Rin and Kaylee take one Egg each, and told Rin she was giving her a ride home. Whatever was going to happen here... apparently her Mother didn’t want them apart of it. 

Kaylee had chosen a pretty red Egg with an almost orange pattern on the bottom. And before she knew it, she was loaded up into her Mother’s van along with Rin. Mom wasted no time in starting the van, and was leaving the driveway as more police cars showed up. 

She rested the Egg on her lap, and looked out the window as the Weigard’s farm disappeared from view behind them. The Egg was warm on her lap, and it only helped her wonder how anyone could hurt one... 

Kaylee looked back up as the van approached Rin’s family’s farm, and slowed down as it approached the driveway. She was insanely curious on what would happen to Mila and the farm, but it didn’t look like she was going to get any answers. Instead, she focused her attention back to the Egg. 

“I guess we have our Starter Pokemon now!“ Kaylee grinned, and turned to look at Rin, “And we saved them too, which is extra good!“

Culled? As in…Killed???? No way! She was about to say something when Chi arrived. “As many as we want?” That didn’t sound right, did Chi pull a princess thing for them? “Alright!” She made a beeline for the nearest group of red ribbon eggs to scoop them up gently.

When Kaylee said said something though, she paused,”But…What’ll happen to the rest of them Liechi? We need to save them!”

Kaylee nodded slowly, “O-okay...” 

She didn’t want to believe what she had heard... she almost felt like she was in shock... if Chi hadn’t had barged in, she would’ve thought that Mila was playing a cruel prank... except Mila doesn’t prank... 

She took off her jacket, and laid it flat on the ground to place as many Eggs on it as she could, while Chi stepped to the side to make a phone call. 

Finally, Chi stood up, and walked over, “Mom said she’ll be here in a second. Koma and Midori will be over shortly too. She’s having Midori draft up a Seizure Warrant, and then they will be joining us.”

“Kaylee! Rin!“ She called out, as she entered the barn, “I spoke to the Weigards, and they said you can take as many Pokemon as you want!“ 

Technically a lie, but she’d rather not worry them about it.. though for some reason, the looks on their faces showed they were worried about something regardless. Instead, she reached down to try and pick up as many red-ribboned Pokemon Eggs as she could, and tried to hide the fact that she had been crying. She gave up at three, and crouched down on the ground by a fourth to put all the Eggs together, and reached for her phone, “I’m gunna call Mom to come pick us up.”

“H-huh? They did?“ Didn’t Mila just say that... Oh... Kaylee looked down and saw Chi collecting the Red Ribboned ones. Did she just find out too? 

She folded her hands to her chest. But Mila said that the green ribbon ones were already paid for, and the yellow ones were being sold... so... 

Kaylee turned to look at Rin, “W-we only need one? Right?”
