If you’re someone who believes that gender is stored in how oppressed you are, of course you’re going to become very confused and upset when someone who belongs to a group that historically has held power says that maybe because of one little thing (being trans) they actually do not have access to that power and are also oppressed!

Genuinely, I think this is why so many TRFs get upset at trans men and mascs speaking about medical misogyny. We are not weaponizing our AGABs by talking about material reality, our oppression does not threaten the validity of trans women and fem’s oppression because gender is not determined by how oppressed you are. You do not have to be The Most Oppressed to be a woman, and being apart of a marginalized group does not automatically mean you are a woman.

Fundamentally, a lot of this transandrophobia that comes from within the trans community is coming from a place of dysphoria and we need to start recognizing it as such.

Idk I genuinely think that if you’re not a trans man or trans masc you should actually just shut the fuck up about us. Literally why do so many people who are not these things think they have ANY authority on the lived experiences of trans men and mascs? It’s really telling just how far y’all have leaned into the whole “trans men are just confused, unintelligent little girls who can’t think for themselves” thing. It’s clear how many of you hold deeply misogynistic mind sets and think you’ve figured out an acceptable target to air all that out on.

Watched a great video by video essayist Lani’s Lens on YouTube about how pop feminism is failing us, and she was able to precisely pin point and explain why the “hate all men” stuff cannot be all that feminism is. She asked “is your feminism about hating men, or is it about uplifting women?”

This, I feel, is applicable to all types of activism. Are you an activist because you believe in bettering the lives of the people you fight for, or are you doing it to get even with people you hate?

So when I watch these TRFs go on and on about how trans men/mascs need to take a seat and let trans women/fems take the stage, how all trans men/mascs should die or detransition, and so on, it becomes clear that TRFs don’t fight FOR trans women/fems Their feminism is about hating trans men/mascs, which in the end puts trans men/mascs back on stage and has trans women/fems as merely a tool they can use for their hatred.

Idk bout y’all, but I love all trans people. I want all of us to be safe to realize our selves, to love who we are, to become what we want to become. My activism comes from love, and I hope in time every TRF who has adopted transandrophobia as the lens which they view transfeminism comes to realize they hurt not only trans men/mascs, but trans women/fems as well.

Idk the most hurt I feel is when your very best friend who has never misgendered you suddenly does and you realize that they don’t actually see you as what you and are, that you’re still very much in the “woman” box to them. And then I spiral and I think, well. Try as I might, I just will never be a Man. There are only so many options here and I don’t think any of them but one is feasible if I can’t be a man.

Is there a way to talk about side effects of HRT without basically giving transphobes a “reason” to continue to be transphobic? If that makes sense?

There was a video on IG from a trans man who said T has basically impaired him cognitively, and it’s true that everyone has different reactions and we should respect that, but my immediate feeling was anxiety that this would be used by transphobes to basically be like “see, this is POISON” etc etc.

But then I thought of the initial question on this post because people should be able to talk about negative side effects, but how can we do that safely in the climate we are in?

when you really internalize how central self sacrifice is to the patriarchal female gender role you very quickly begin to realize that the prescription on trans men to prioritize the movement over their own needs, self expression, and safety (up to and including pressure to keep sexual abuse secret) isn't much of a deconstruction at all

I've been considering how to say this for a very, very long time. I noticed a while ago that the intracommunity dynamics within the trans community mirror those I've experienced within the rest of society as well, but wasn't sure how best to put it.

I understand the desire to pass, but as trans people we have got to stop making being cis and having cis experiences our ultimate goal. I think a lot of (not all, but a lot) discourse arises from our desire to pass. We ignore each other, we hate each other, we fight, all because someone does something that suggests “they are not cis” and it triggers dysphoria in ourselves. It’s internalized transphobia, plain and simple.

The simple fact is that we aren’t cis and that is a good thing. I love being trans and I love that trans people exist.

It seems that a lot of folks equate NOT hating trans men/mascs as an act of transmisogyny which is truly ugly and cruel not only to trans men/mascs but to trans women/femmes and all who struggle against transmisogyny.
