Many happy returns to Buster Keaton’s pop, Joe Keaton, born 154 years ago today! The champion of high kicks who managed to kick his son all around the stage, later following him into pictures, is pictured here with wife Myra — celebrating his 48th birthday in style — atop an elephant, parading the streets of the Actor’s Colony he founded in Muskegon, MI.

This Day in Buster… June 27, 1932

Buster Keaton is due in port in San Francisco on his way home after gifting wife, Natalie, a yacht. The vessel was intended to be named after her and was intended to appease her after a marital disagreement. It sadly did not do the trick.

#MovieMonday “War Italian Style,” 1967, is the last of Buster Keaton’s films to be released in the US, although not the last film he made. Buster’s stoic performance served as a welcome counterpoint in this Italian vehicle for popular duo Franco and Ciccio, neither of whom was known for his subtlety. Buster sure wasn’t chicken in this scene! ;)

And after two years of showcasing Buster Keaton’s filmography from start to finish, we’ll be starting again next Monday with his cinematic debut. Thank you for all the likes, comments, and shares. And thank you to Buster for 50 years of film. <3
