Objective : Land on one of Saturnâs Moon and collect samples of alien life, Checklist :
Pilot â Commander â Scientist / Mission Specialist â Engineer â Medical Specialist
(I havenât done Vertâs, Stanfordâs, Tezzâs, A.Jâs, and Graceâs)
Sherman -> Mechanical Engineer : Considering Sherman is the tech-nerd of the group along with Spinner (and the closest to Sageâs intelligence than any of the bf5) I immediately knew he would be some type of engineer. But when thinking of what type of engineer he would be, I thought at first he would be an Aerospace Engineer, but figured it is too specific for Sherman. Sherman would be the Jack of all trades in engineering which is why I went to Mechanical Engineering as my choice.
Mechanical engineers are responsible for designing and building the spacecraftâs life support such as propulsion systems, life support hardware such as oxygen and water supply, the structural design of the spacecraft, the robotic parts of the ship, and fixing or upgrading the ship.
Tezz -> Physicist : the other nerd introduced in season two. After browsing lists of âwhat type of specialists needed for space travelâ, I came across Physicists which surprisingly connects well to my understanding of Tezz. Physicists map out how to launch the spacecraft and charts the course needed by calculating orbital mechanics. I imagine Tezz would work with Vert to direct him on the most optimal course and work together to navigate the spacecraft which is how Vert earns Tezzâs respect because of his skills in following the route Tezz has set up. Also, from my knowledge, you learn electromagnetism in Physics class.
Vert -> Commander, Pilot, Aerospace Engineer : Remember the aerospace engineer that I mentioned on Shermanâs part? Yeah, I gave that to Vert. Vert is a mechanic who knew probably the most about cars at the start of the series. Aerospace engineers are engineers that mainly focuses on building aircrafts and spacecrafts. This Vert, instead of being the car guy, would be the person who knew most about spaceships at the start of the series. He would be in charge of designing engines, aerodynamics, avionics, and structural design of the spacecraft.
Avionics is when Aerospace engineers design the electronic systems which is why Vert is the guy who is in charge of communications, as a result he gets to meet Sage for the first time. In my au, Sage is the one rescuing the BF5 from being lost in the middle of nowhere and talks through the broken communication system within the spacecraft which is how she joined the crew. Additionally, Vert would be working as a Test Pilot before being chosen to admit as one of the many candidates of Mission: Odyssey.
Spinner -> Software Engineer : As the character with the most IT vibes, it wouldâve been such a waste if I donât put Spinner as a Software Engineer who maintains the code structure of the ship (according to google). Spinner would be in charge on writing codes that would be handling the shipâs data, analyze data, and keeps power within the spacecraft running. Spinner is the gamer of the team, and according to my school, 99% of the gamers eventually goes to become an IT major. Headcanon that Spinner developed an indie gacha game with Sherman as its head writer.
A.J -> Planetary Geologist : A.J was first invited to traverse the snowy landscape, and according to the wiki, he is the Terrain Expert of the group. So, geology. The study of Earth and its structure. Terrain is described as âthe physical features and characteristics of a specific area of landâ or just another word to say âlandâ. Terrain is apart of Earth, therefore A.J is the geology expert. Because this is astronaut themed, he would be studying other planetâs terrains.
Agura -> Astrobiologist, Zoologist, Second-in-Command : Spider motifs. Huntress. The color green. Agura is totally a biologist. I figured Agura would be very interested in learning biology of life in general if she wasnât a huntress, whatever that profession means. In my au, she was stationed in Brazil to study wildlife before she was sent by her mentor to the U.S to partake on the Odyssey program. She is apart of recommended line of participants, instead of the astronauts who applied to be apart of the mission.
Stanford -> Molecular Biology : Stanford is the 189th in line to the throne, right? To be in line to the throne, you have to have the Royal familyâs DNA in some capacity, and molecular biologists study DNA, RNA, genes, and etc. Would it make sense to make Stanford study DNA because he is always talking about being in line to the throne? Probably not, but itâs funny.
Zoom -> Flight Surgeon, Co-Pilot : Holy difficult. I could make him the main Pilot and Vert as the commander, but even in the fused form, he was sitting in the back and Vert is the one driving the fusion. But since his whole shtick is flying, I guess I could make him the co-pilot.
The only thing available is flight surgeonâŠPlease donât mind the reasoning behind this as I am stretching the correlation to fit Zoom as a doctor.
See, you know how martial arts are used mostly for fighting within the show? Well, martial arts can also be used for physical fitness so you could be healthy, and also to be really good at it, you have to be in tune with your body. You could also learn human anatomy to improve on your martial arts, plus, it would be funny to have Zoom who is one of the most reckless member of the team be a doctor. As the flight surgeon or doctor in the spaceship, he is responsible for keeping his crewâs health in check by frequently testing their mental state, monitor them, and act as the primary care doctor. He is fairly alert as a scout, so he would be the first to notice if anyone was feeling off as their doctor.
Grace -> Space Chemist : Grace is a space chemist because she has, get it, chemistry canonically with three members from the battle force 5 (Stanford, Vert, Zoom). Oh lord thatâs a bad joke. Jokes aside, I didnât know what to do with Grace. All I know of her is that she is a waiter in Zekeâs diner who acts as the potential love interest to these three men. So, chemist it is.

A/N: High key I donât know what I am doing, this is more of an honor to Project Hail Mary, the best sci-fi movie Iâve watched. I had fun coming up with roles for these characters and I hope I donât anger anyone with these choices!
Also Iâm probably going to ramble more about this au, and also make a design for the Vandals and Sark. Iâd like to make this auâs genre horror themed!
