I'm from the US and was taught two but I'm beginning to think this is just a freak thing my school did that has no bearing in the rest of the world

The transition from two to one spaces happened during my adult life. I was there gandalf, deep magic, etc.

Two, Americanly, and it was a FUCKING FRUSTRATING transition.

My grandmother, who is 99, does two spaces (UK) but she was taught to type on typewriters. She also really likes keyboards with super clicky mechanical keys because that she hammers at because that's what typewriters were like.

She hates smartphones and non-tactile keyboards but texts like a champ with a numpad phone. I think she stopped keeping up with technology when she was like 85 so like fair enough let her play spider solitaire on the PC and send emails and Facebook. She's been online since windows 3.1 she deserves a break.

Two, USAmerican.

First, I learned to type back in the 90s ('cause I'm old) and my instructor was an older woman at the time.

I'm not sure when I discovered **ok we type with one space after a period now** but I'd wager it was within the last 10 years.

... but also in the context of, "hey, they might discriminate against your perceived age on a job application if a person/resume screening software catches that."

Fun times.

Allotment upkeep

Welp, didn't take as many pics as I thought I did.

Was out at the allotment today - first time since Monday. High heat, hazardous air quality (from the wildfires), and pending vehicle maintenance kept me away this week.

Above is the first zucchini/courgette of the year. It's only 3-4 inches long at the moment. It's plant looked stressed (I assume from a combo of heat and wanting water) and I debated whether to harvest early to let the plan recover. I ended up not.

My 2 baby cucumbers are now 6-8 inches long, but looked half deflated. I wasn't sure if they weren't quite done growing or if it was deformed due to the heat and wanting water. Left them on the vine for now.

I propped up and staked my zucchini plants to poles to grow vertically.

The whole plot was watered deeply. The forecast for Wednesday looks decent, so I'll check back then.

This is from the volunteer tomato plant. Currently, it looks like it will be some sort of larger cherry tomato.

Secret tomatoes

These green lanterns will eventually turn papery brown and drop to the ground. That's when the ground cherry is ready. Peel back the paper lantern to reveal the golden fruit!

They've taken forever to get this far.

Just a little..

At the allotment yesterday checking on things and preparing everything for this next heatwave.

I have a couple tiny cucumbers.

No zucchini (courgette/baby marrow) yet. Also got attacked/poked by a spine on the stem. Ow! Didn't know they fought back!

Cantaloupe plants are still tiny.

Ground cherries are starting to make their paper lanterns.

Yes, more garden.

Ooo.. my bell pepper plants have blossoms now. This is the best I've done with any pepper plant so far.

What is...?

Tomato plants - This year, I planted Sun Gold tomatoes and Cherokee Purple tomatoes in my little garden plot. I didn't mark or specify which is which, but the tomatoes are significantly different from one another. We are just starting to see the very first baby tomatoes on the plants.

The other day I noticed these beautiful drop-shaped babies hatching. They are already too big to be Sun Golds. Is this what a Cherokee Purple tomato looks like before reaching its final form? Did I get a wildcard tomato instead?

What is this?
