a/n ; this is the prequel?? i guess for the first little drabble. i just needed to write about that first interaction lmfao. also i really want to write more surfer!abby stuff, so donât hesitate to send me little things you want me to write about her / her and reader! <3
surfer!abby being at a complete loss for words upon meeting you for the first time. itâs been months since sheâs been in this smoothie shop and thereâs been hardly any change in the staff for the past several years, so sheâs taken aback when she sees your face behind the counter. not only because of the lack of familiarity, but because of how fucking beautiful you are.Â
âhi, welcome in! order whenever youâre ready.â is the first thing you say to her, and, of course, your voice is pretty too. it makes her heart pound and she feelsâŠnervous? surely not. abigail anderson doesnât get nervous.
her eyes flit from the menu board to you, pretending she canât figure out what to order. she knows exactly what she wants â a strawberry banana protein smoothie, but she wants an excuse to make conversation so she asks you instead.
âi donât really know what i want today. do you have any recs?âÂ
âyou sure you want my recommendation? iâm a âif it ainât broke donât fix itâ kind of person, so i really only get one thing from here.âÂ
âcâmon,â she says, âyou look like someone with good taste. give it to me straight.â and, like the immature girl she is, she holds back a laugh at that sentence, because sheâs feeling anything but straight right now.Â
âfine.â you say a bit reluctantly. âi order a green squeeze.â
and, once again, abby has to hold back a laugh. because sheâs never liked green smoothies, but here she is about to order one and pretend itâs delicious just so she can tell you how right you were and how good your taste is.Â
âalright. sounds good. i trust you.â
she pays for a small and leans against the counter to watch you blend everything together and pour it into a plastic cup. you bring it over to her and you watch as she brings he small up to her lips to test taste it.Â
she feels about as nervous as you look. the cold tangy-sweet-earthy sip slides down her throat, and she just as she suspected, sheâs not a fan of it.Â
but she smiles when she swallows, âitâs really good. see? i knew i could trust your opinion.âÂ
your smile is full of relief, and abby quickly changes the subject. mostly because she wants to know a little bit more about you while the shop is empty, but sheâs also hoping you wonât notice her not drinking the smoothie if youâre conversing.Â
she tells you your name is pretty, and you tell her that hers is too. she finds out that you just recently moved here and that this place allowed flexibility and oddly good pay, which is beneficial for you because youâre currently in school.Â
she tells you sheâs been a surfing her whole life, and that sheâs recently inching her way into pro surfing. you seem genuinely fascinated with that, telling her itâs something youâve always wanted to try. she tells you that she could teach you sometime. you tell her âweâll see.â with a smile.Â
sheâs about to ask you something else when a customer walks in, which means time is up, but you catch her attention before she walks out.Â
âhey, abby.â you say, âyou should come back more often. i think you just became my new favorite customer.â
