SO LIKE... I'm as excited as anyone for tears of the kingdom. Perhaps more excited than some cuz I tend to anticipate these games trusting that I will enjoy them. And generally I am! At the very least, I haven't felt let down by any of the games.

Anyway! My point is, I like to try and anticipate stuff for games. I love theories and while I don't feel like I'm some master of detail or understanding story beats, I do feel like I stumble across fun ideas. Even when they don't fit, sometimes a concept is just fun to talk about, if that makes sense?

So it was kinda defeating when I joined a server entirely about zelda and zelda theories and tried to engage about an idea. I was told that mentioning age of calamity would just bring out those who hate it and that my theory was wrong because the game was called a sequel to breath of the wild. Also that Nintendo would not connect a game to one like age of calamity because it didn't sell well.

I get that these are likely right. I don't believe my theories are amazing or must be right but I guess at least being able to talk about the idea would have been fun. It would have been nice to discuss ideas instead of being shut down and told I was going to attract hate.

I feel like age of calamity had a really interesting story I wasn't expecting and it would be a fantastic way to support so many of the things seen in the botw2 trailer. It would also still work as a sequel to botw because the story is still breath of the wild, just with some minor adjustments.

I guess a lot of theories feel disjointed to me and seem to be making more up than relying on events from botw. So it feels confusing to not even want to entertain something that could support multiple yet unexplained angles of the game. Like the look of the enemies or the difference in the landscape.

I dunno, if I had the energy I would maybe try to create a space that invites ideas and discussion. Because even if they aren't or can't work in a specific canon I feel like being able to share and explore ideas is really fun and can inspire things in other places.
