it is with a heavy heart that i tell all you lovely folks that iâll be leaving carthay. this time, for good. so many things have come up not just in my online life, but in my personal life as well. i need to cleanse myself of negative energy and just focus on other pet projects + real life work, but i appreciate the time i shared with so many amazing people whoâve made my time here enjoyable. âĄ
âFall!â he retorted as though it was painfully obvious, though this was a rule for Wasabi and Wasabi alone. âJust forget it. Forget it. Doesnât matter. Not bothered at all. This is totally fine. I have to do back to work in 10 minutes and 52 seconds but this is most definitely okay that I didnât have my snack during the apportioned time. Psh. Wonderful even!â
âDo I even wanna know why fall is chip season?â Nibs asked, raising a brow. This entire conversation got more and more bizarre by the moment; maybe he shouldâve picked another bag to mooch from. âUh, seriously, just take the bag back,â he said, awkwardly handing it back. âI seriously donât mind buying you a new one either as long as your head doesnât explode.â
Kristoff laughed at Nibsâ reaction. âNo worries, man,â he said. âI know that the Flemmy Stew is definitely not for everyone.â He chuckled before adding, âIâm afraid youâre already too late. It ran away out the back and the last I saw of it was when it was headed towards the woods, with Sven hot on his trail.â
âBummer. I love getting into fist fights with Mother Natureâs creatures,â Nibs teased, carefully stepping over the mess the squirrel had left. âYou need help cleaning this up? Itâs the least I can do after basically turning down your momâs stew, but I might need a hospital mask if it smells as bad as you say.â
âYouâre so right about that,â a light laugh escaped the girl, âI hate small talk. I always feel like Iâm overcompensating for something when itâs really usually the other person. So dumb,â Anna paused, listening on to what the lost boy had to say, her heart filling with a warm fuzzy feeling that felt like the longing for a community to call her own. âI get that. Iâm so used to doing everything by myself I guess that recently in the past year or so Iâve just been trying to jam pack my life with people. Sometimes itâs successful but most of the time I just feel like Iâm knocking on these doors that nobody wants to answer. But then again, Iâm not much of a runner.â
On the contrary, Nibs wasnât used to doing everything on his own. Heâd always have at least one or two of the other boys to join him on adventures, or at least be asked to go along on whatever crazy antics Peter had planned for the day. Now it was hard accepting the occasional and increasingly common solitude. âI literally knock on doors that nobody answers,â he chuckled, offering a small, comforting smile. âMaybe running is just a me thing, though. You can start out with walking -- baby steps, right? Just walk around Carthay and see what fun you can get up to.â
â BRO, IâM surprised i didnât wake up to find my dick everywhere. a bit bummed, too. could you imagine how many girls would be hitting me up after that? i could be swimming in pussy right now. instead, iâve got everyone guessing because of that damn tape measure picture. â at the mention of the exact thing he was trying to forget, brett tried his hardest not to gag. â PLEASE do not remind me. â
âOnly you would use hacked nudes to get laid,â Nibs snorted, rolling his eyes for emphasis. âShould I be the one to break the news to the general public that youâre packing a whopping three inches? Or would you rather do the honors yourself?â With that said, he moved a solid foot away from Brett to avoid any retribution. âDid you not know about that shit? I mean, you guys live together. I, uh, thought you wouldâve at least hear something?â
A look of amusement danced across her face. Apparently he hadnât heard her ask if she was in the way. Her eye brows arched up at the way that he was glancing at all the bags. A small laugh escaped when he actually leaned down to begin rummaging through one,â Iâm bought them for a toy drive,â she told him with her head tilted to the side,â Um, Iâm not sure how many I bought, probably quite a few.â She hadnât really kept track though maybe she should have.
Most of his childhood was spent receiving Christmas presents via toy drives, but he was pleasantly surprised to see the quality in gifts had gone up in recent years. âThe lilâ dudes are gonna love this,â he remarked, eventually eyeing the other bags. âWhat else did you get?â
âWow â first, to the fact that you can connect your phone to your computer. I didnât even know that. Second â the fact that someone, like, even would do something like that. I mean â did you say things that would make other people upset?â A frown engraves itself into Morphâs face as they jut their bottom lip out, slightly afraid that Nibs said anything bad about them. âHmm. ActuallyâŚâ Morph took a slurp of soup, brows drawing together in an act of recollection. âI paid some senior recently to fix my computer after I spilt soup on it again. I think heâs pretty well known in the more geeky circles â heâs around our age, despite being a senior. I think his name is â Haro? Herjo? Something like that,â Morph shrugged, picking up their soup spoon and started stirring their food, lost in thought. âNo clue. I assume it got out of hand somehow and everyoneâs poor bathroom is slathered with Icy Hot, but all I know so far is that Iâve been receiving a lot of angry texts from random guys. Which, you know â is kinda cool that I have a reputation, kinda not.â
âI say a lot of things that make a lot of people upset,â Nibs admitted, albeit a bit sheepishly. He had a habit of putting his foot in his mouth; heâd accepted that long ago. It couldâve been anyone heâd sassed or teased, but he was beginning to think that maybe a close friend had been involved. âWhen you remember the guyâs name, let me know. Iâll pay good money to get him to clean up this whole mess.â Not that the damage could be undone, but at least the evidence wouldnât be there. âI think you should be proud. Itâs a good prank, and guys ainât shit, yâknow? Iâm sure most of them are assholes anyway -- and thatâs coming from another guy. We can be real shit stains when we wanna be. Maybe thatâs why someone hacked me.â
âyeah it isâââ tinka began before her mouth promptly gaped open. âuh, thatâs because they were for me.â she crossed her arms, lip jutting out into a pout. reluctantly, she nodded before letting out a sigh. âfine. just finish âem.âÂ
To be fair, Nibs had a habit of being an absolute menace to his friends, so he felt it necessary to compensate Tinka for putting up with him this long. âIâll give you money to go buy two bags,â he reassured, helping himself to more chips. âSee? Now weâre even.â
word on the street is you think the lost boys nicknames are kinda dumb. go ahead then, wise guy - what should they be called instead?
(DELAYED) HONESTY HOUR | ACCEPTING
âi canât even remember saying this thought out loud to anyone, but god damn, itâs true. iâm sick of those kids runninâ around by the names of⌠what⌠nibs? tootles? what kind of names are those? i donât even really know âem but if theyâre really a gang, they need better names. iâll scribble down some thoughts and get back to you.â @cfpans @biinkys @mvrmvduke @slightlylcst @bvnnyrabbits @tootling
Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be.Â
though i have to travel far . . .
Rabbits -- A bit self-explanatory, but Nibsâs love for rabbits would surely keep his memory alive. Every time someone sees a rabbit in any way, shape, or form, theyâd probably think of Nibs while theyâre at it.Â
Flannel Shirts -- No article of clothing is worn more than Nibsâs precious flannel shirts. He has a different color for each day of the week, just in case heâs tempted to actually wear one every day. When anyone sports some flannel, hopefully they donât forget the boy who religiously wears them.
Sunrises -- Nibs is often up at the crack of dawn, preparing for his morning run and whatever the day will bring. Because of this, heâd like his loved ones to think of him every time the sun begins peeking up over the horizon. Though he may not be around, heâll still be there in spirit.Â
Freckles -- Nibs is covered head to toe in freckles, which heâs quite proud of. He loves the marks that make him so unique and help him stand out in a crowd. Itâs kind of his trademark, so to speak, and would want people to always associate freckles with his memory.
Running -- Itâs no secret that Nibs loves to run. If his loved ones were to see a passing jogger or even go running themselves, their thoughts would inevitably drift to Nibs. Heâd want them to definitely stay active and jog through the Hundred Acre Wood in his honor. Â
Is it the clumpy way he walks? Or the grumpy way he talks? Or the pear-shaped, square-shaped weirdness of his feet? Well, not exactly, but Nibs is still far from perfect. As a matter of fact, one might say heâs a bit of a fixer-upper.
the imperfections
Immature -- Lost Boys never truly grow up, so it probably comes as no surprise that Nibs is every bit as childish and mischievous as ever. He doesnât plan on acting his age anytime soon, and even if he did, how mature can an 18 year old even be?
Blunt -- Brutally honest to a fault, Nibs frequently puts his foot in his mouth. It sometimes seems like he doesnât even have a filter, often spouting the first thing to come to mind. Itâs gotten him in trouble more often than not.
Clingy -- For most of his childhood, Nibs never had a family to call his own. Because everyone seemed to come and go, he has a habit of clinging onto anyone stable in his life. In turn, anyone who leaves his life sends Nibs into a panic.
Spoiled -- Technically, Nibs came from nothing. Before he was adopted by the Jacksons at the tender age of twelve, he was used to living with just about nothing. Now that heâs part of a wealthy family? Letâs just say heâs used to getting his way.
Restless -- If thereâs one thing Nibs will refuse to do, itâs sit still. He has so much pent-up energy at the start of every day that he has to constantly stay active just to release it all. When heâs forced to stay in one spot, heâs prone to getting cranky.Â
A comfortably lavish house in the heart of Corona Hills may not seem like the ideal situation for a Lost Boy, but Nibs wouldnât have it any other way. After his adoption, it became the very first place Nibs could call his own. No longer was he bunking with other boys at group homes or sharing space in cramped foster homes. Finally, he had a bedroom all to himself and could give it a proper Lost Boyâs touch.
the layout
The Jackson residence is as classy and sophisticated as his parents, aimed to set a good impression for guests they have over. Despite this, itâs overflowing with warmth and love, which Nibs never takes for granted. That being said, he makes sure to abide by the cleanliness his parents (mostly his mother) expect, which is why his room isnât as messy as it could be. The only mess is either caused by his rabbits or cat, but usually gets cleaned up the moment heâs asked to. Nothing is left on the floor save for shoes, cat toys, and the occasional rabbit snack.
Upon entering his bedroom, youâd be greeted by a large dresser and small walk-in closet to the left. On the left side of the room also happens to be the entrance to his own personal bathroom, which is arguably the only area left in disarray. On the right, youâd find part of the wall decorated with photographs and a display hosting a variety of medals. His bed frame is pushed up against the right end of the room and just feet away from the windowsill. With a simple push of the curtains, the window reveals the perfect view of the lush front yard and the massive oak tree just outside the bedroom.Â
the items
Rabbits -- Even though his three pet rabbits have a room of their own just down the hall, they freely come and go to Nibsâs room at all hours of the day. Nibs is extremely thankful that his parents encourage his love for animals and put up with the rambunctious rabbits scampering all over the second floor of their home.
Memory Wall -- After Nibs finally settled into his new home (and before Peter left Carthay), Nibs had a habit of snapping pictures of the many Lost Boy adventures. He doesnât have the heart to take any of the photos down, so part of his wall is decorated with snapshots of the good olâ days.
Cat -- Nibs never saw himself as a cat person, but once his parents dropped his chubby little Biscuit in his laps, Nibs was smitten. Biscuit has free reign of the house, but can typically be found curled up on Nibsâs bed. The only time Nibs ever slows down is when he spends time with his precious pal, who isnât nearly as fast-paced as his owner.
Slingshot -- Back before he was ever a Jackson, Nibs was simply a Lost Boy. Heâs kept his first ever slingshot that he personally carved himself. It holds a lot of sentimental value and much like his memory wall, Nibs doesnât plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.Â
Quilt -- After his runaway attempt, Nibs was given a quilt decorated with constellations. It was hand-stitched by his mother and a token of love from both parents. Itâs been his security blanket since then and he canât go to sleep without it. Whenever he spends the night at someone elseâs house, his quilt never leaves his side.Â
Medals & Numbers -- Considering heâs always on his feet, itâs no surprise that Nibs has participated in a number of marathons and track competitions. He proudly displays the medals heâs won and his number slips to show his accomplishments, and plans on adding more to the display, to boot.Â
âI feel like I might have gone overboard,â mumbled Jenny the second she realized just how much she had purchased. She had decided to buy some stuff for a toy drive that she had found out about. It wasnât often that she just went out and spent so much money. Granted it wasnât like she couldnât possibly afford it. The bags were practically filled to the brim and she was staring down at them,â Looks like I have a lot of organizing to do.â She had the feeling she was going to have to lug the bags one at time. She was in the process of doing that when she swore she felt a set of eyes on her. That made her jump and she glanced up,â Oh! Sorry! Am I in your way?â
For a moment, Nibs was too distracted by the bags to pay Jenny any mind. He was still a kid at heart, after all, and as such loved to mess around with toys every now and again. âHuh?â He finally asked, raising his brows. âOh, nah, youâre good. I was just gonna ask what all these toys are for -- hey, a Nerf gun!â He openly sifted through one of the bags. âHow many of these bad boys did you buy?â
It wasnât that Matt was angry or anything - well, not with Nibs anyway - it was more so that he was confused, perhaps. Matt was the friend with the stupid, deep, philosophical discussions in the middle of the night preaching love and acceptance in a world of war to a fault, to a level of pretentiousness, even, and while he didnât want to make any of this personal, it felt⌠well. It felt like a definite decision on Nibsâs part not to let him know. Was it Matthewâs business? Not totally, no, and he wasnât entitled to the information, but he still got the feeling that heâd missed a grand opportunity to support his brother through a rough patch.
He winced when Nibs started asking questions, but barely seconds later, a grin bloomed on his face. There was hardly any reason to smile, no, but, âHorizontal tango?â he scoffed against the neck of the bottle pressed to his cheek. âFucking dork.â He shook his head. âUh. A while, I guess, but, like. Never for long at a time?â Matthew tilted his head to the side as he thought on that. âHow long haveâ Or, not. Like. How⌠do you identify, at the moment?â
In hindsight, Matt shouldâve been one of the first people he came out to -- Brett too, but Matt would definitely be the best to tell. Maybe if given the chance, Nibs wouldâve. Instead, he had to deal with the aftermath of the unintentional outing and prematurely explain himself. âIâm...pretty sure Iâm bi,â he replied. Finally, he finished nursing his drink and took a small sip, wincing as the liquor scratched his throat going down. âYeah, definitely bi.
âI havenât know for long though,â he added. âI, um, spent the past year discovering myself. Testing the waters. You and Brett have been going through your own stuff, so I didnât wanna add more onto your plate. I didnât plan on coming out anytime soon either. Hell, I havenât even talked to my parents about it. Kinda wanted to get their thoughts on it before anything else.â
âWhat an idiot,â he whispered to himself. Hook sat down on the steps that lead into the living area, leaning against them. Let the kid stew in his own stupidity as he hides inside the boat where there are no windows to escape from. Peter Pan should of sent someone a lot more intelligent, really. âTootles would of been better. At least he brings me mochas.â Knocking against the door loudly, smiling at the idea of having someone that was Peterâs so far away from civilization, but not so far. âCome on out little Nibs. What are you going to do? Hide forever?â
Nibs flinched when he could hear a knock against his hiding spot, causing him to stumble back and nearly topple into the shelves. A few items were kicked around in the darkness, only spurring on his nerves. âI didnât mean to trespass!â He weakly called out, wincing at the crack in his voice. âI heard weird noses, okay? Iâm curious!â Normally, he wouldnât mind bolting and facing Hookâs wrath, but now that they were apparently out at sea? Nibs wasnât chancing it. âCall the cops if you want. Iâll get taken away in handcuffs and weâll call it even?â
Michael quickly shook his head, not wanting to accidentally overwhelm Nibs more than he already was. âI meant mine! I mean, theyâre lawyers, isnât this kind of their thing? But⌠Yeah. If we tell my parents then theyâll definitely tell yours,â he sighed. He felt useless, unable to come up with an idea to help his friend. âIt was a bad idea, I take it back,â he concluded. Between his friend already being unrightfully outed and the vandalism, he didnât want to make anything worse.Â
âI didnât think so either⌠I was just hoping, itâd be a really crappy thing to do no matter the circumstances,â and he didnât think there was any circumstance this was okay, of course, but he also knew people made rash decisions when angry. âHave you seen anyone?â Michael asked, curious if he was the first the other had actually talked to. âI think⌠You deserve to be able to wrap your mind around it before anyone yells at you.â
It was true that out of all the people whoâd know what to do, the Darlings certainly would. With that came its own set of risks, however. One being that theyâd run and tell his parents, and the other that theyâd see what had been exposed and outright ban him from their house. Neither outcome was worth the effort. âAt least youâre trying to help,â he added, just so Michael wouldnât feel too bad. âThatâs what best friends are supposed to do. Donât feel bad about it.â
For all Nibs knew, maybe heâd brought this on himself. Maybe he opened his mouth one too many times or pushed too many buttons. It was easy for people to get annoyed with him, he supposed. âIâve only seen the Twins,â he replied. âI dunno if Iâm ready to face everyone else yet considering, yâknow, I talked shit about all of them. I know Iâm gonna have to apologize sooner or later, but Iâm kinda hoping this all blows over or I wake up and itâs one big nightmare.â
