The Pencee Scarecrows

On April 30, 2009, Pencee McLane left with five of her closest friends on a camping trip. What occurred to Pencee and her friends that night has become a mystery for the ages.

It’s reported that the group arrived at their planned destination at 7 PM. The group made camp and spent the night drinking and having a good time. When Pencee awoke the following morning, all of the people in her group were gone.

Upon investigating the campsite, she found nothing out of the ordinary.

The SUV was still there.

The tents were still there. All of the group’s food and clothing was still in their respective tents.

Nothing had been disturbed.

She spent the next hour texting and calling her friends, but not one person responded. She even called their parents. Beginning to panic, Pencee called the police.

Authorities arrived on scene, but were just as confused as Pencee. No signs of struggle, no signs of other people.

The strangest thing to come out of the initial investigation was the discovery that the only footprints at the campsite were Pencee’s.

Bizarre, right?

It gets worse.

On May 1, 2010, the first body appeared.

Sara Paella was found in the middle of a field, right on the spot where the original group camped. As seen in the pictures above, her desiccated corpse was found tied to a rough crucifix with barbed wire. A stitched burlap sack was thrown over her head and a collar of barbed wire adorned her neck.

Police determined that the cause of death was strangulation with the barbed wire.

On May 1, 2011, the second body appeared. Kitty Sigmon was found crucified across the street from where Pencee was living at the time. The crucifix appeared in her neighbor’s backyard. Residents on the street all reported that the only thing they heard that night was a droning noise that sounded like a plane.

Pencee McLane relocated to a new city shortly after this occurred.

On May 1, 2012, the third body appeared. Melissa Green was found crucified and hung with barbed wire. Once again, the body appeared across the street from where Pencee McLane lived. This time in the front yard.

Pencee once again moved to a new city.

On May 1, 2013, the fourth body appeared. Willis Timmermen was found crucified in Pencee’s own front yard, his body in the same shape as the others.

May 1, 2014 will be here soon and the fifth member of the group still hasn’t been found.

I wonder where that scarecrow will appear…

This is one of the more famous ghost pictures It was taken in 1936. It is said to show the ghost of the Brown Lady who haunts Raynham Hall in England. This ghost picture is believed by many to be one of the best and most convincing of all the known photographs of ghosts. In many cases it is presented as actual proof of the existence of ghosts. This is due in part to the actual age of the picture. Being taken in 1936 eliminates a majority of hoax techniques available today. The Brown Lady of Raynham is the ghost of Lady Townshend who was married to Charles Townshend, When Townshend discovered his wife's less than faithful habits, he imprisoned her in the family estate at Raynham Hall, in Norfolk, England. He never allowed her to leave, even to see her own children. She remained there until her death.

Halloween Superstitions

Here are some superstitions that are associated with Halloween.

Black Cats: Most often seen as the symbol of bad luck. It dates back to the Dark Ages when a witch hunt was common. Solitary, elderly woman that were accused were said to have pet cats that were given to them from the devil. Another myth is told that Satan turned himself into a cat when he was with witches. Now-a-days, black cats in Ireland, Scotland, and England crossing your path are considered to be good luck.

Bats: These creatures were associated with witches. It was said that seeing a bat on Halloween was an ominous sign. There is a myth that says if a bat is seen flying around someone’s house, that means there will be a death soon. There is another myth that says if a bat flies into your house on Halloween that it is haunted because the ghost let it in.

Spiders: It was also believed to be a wicked companion of witches. It is said that if a spider falls into a candle lit lamp and is consumed by flames that there are witches nearby. There is another superstition that says if you spot a spider on Halloween means that a spirit of a loved one is watching over you.

Witches: The stereotypical witch that you see for Halloween actually goes back to other pagan goddess known as “The Crone”. She was known as the old one and the earth mother that symbolized wisdom, change, and the turning of seasons.

Cauldrons: The Celts believed that all souls went into the crone’s cauldron and awaited reincarnation. The cauldron represented the Earth Mothers womb and the stirring allowed for new souls to enter and old souls to be reborn.

Witches Broomstick: The elderly that were accused of witchcraft were too poor to own horses so they walked with walking sticks in the forest which were substituted with brooms. Folklore says that witches use a “flying” potion that they rubbed on their bodies. It was a hallucinogenic ointment and gave the sensation of flying through the sky because of the ointment effects like numbness and rapid heartbeat.

Halloween Colors: Dates back to the pagan celebration when orange symbolized the colors of the crop and turning leaves while the black means death if summer and the changing season. Over time the colors green, purple, and yellow have been introduced.

Candy Apples: The tradition dates back to the Celtic and Roman traditions where they honored the goddess of fruit trees. She was symbolized by an apple.
