I don’t know if I can share this kind of experience with you, but I’ll give it a try.
This happened at home, Seville, Spain, like 12 years ago. Very few people around me know this story. It was around 3-4 am. I was sleeping, and I perfectly remember every single second of that “dream”.
In my “dream”, I was in my university. I was supposed to pay attention on my classes but I was talking to a friend instead by Messenger (when it still existed). It was a normal conversation, until I felt something weird. I don’t know why, but I KNEW my friend was going to scream at me, although it was Messenger. I closed my laptop of fear. When I opened it again, there it was.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”
“…”
“Sorry…”
Those were her messages. Panicking, I shut off my laptop and went home.
At home, I was in the kitchen with my godmother. She had her back to me, so I couldn’t see her face. I was telling her my experience, but she kept her back to me and in silent. Suddenly, I started to feel that overwhelming fear, and I saw this shadow crossing by my dining room, I could see it through the window glass of my kitchen. I tried to scream “THERE HE IS!! THERE HE IS!!” But she wouldn’t hear me nor paid attention to me, also I had no voice. I just simply couldn’t. I held my throat while that tall shadow kept moving until the hall of the main entrance to leave the house and then… He saw me.
He was levitating, until he saw me in the kitchen. He was elegant, tall, slim. Slowly, he landed on the floor. Then he said: “Hellooooo…” And started to walk towards me. I saw his face… and started to cry terrified. He had long, black and like wet hair, his skin was…green? Grey? His eyes were pitched black, and his smile just didn’t fit on his face. He had long fangs as well as his nails.
When he was close enough to me, he opened his mouth and started to scream. He had this mouth opened, as long and large as my height was. I felt I was going to have a heart attack of so much terror. I thought he was going to eat me, and his screams were just… unbearable.
But.
I always had a very, very strong character. It hurt me more to think that I was just an innocent that didn’t do anything to deserve that, that what I was experiencing. I got so, so… SO angry, it was so unfair, that I TOO started screaming to him. I had so much rage, that now I COULD scream, and my throat hurt a lot of anger. My eyes were crying of so much effort.
He shut up.
When I opened my eyes, I saw him so terrified, he just started to ran away.
At this point, I woke up.
My throat hurt.
I heard “BOOM BOOM BOOM boom boom…” steps running away from my home.
James: 8/10 for scares. That is really freaky you heard that! Thanks for sharing!
Dangling Feet
Anonymous submitted:
Could you keep this as anon please?
This happened when I was about 14 years old. I was dog sitting at my aunt’s house one summer. Earlier she had warned me that sometimes in the middle of the day, the dog gets into barking fits. It’s just a terrier, so that seemed pretty normal. Well, around one in the afternoon, after the little dog and I had just been chillin’ watching tv, he ran off the couch and toward the stairwell, snarling. Sure enough, he started barking. I thought it was strange but wasn’t freaked out at first. It was only when it came back to the couch did I get up and walk to the stairwell.
There was nothing there at first. Just an empty stairwell.
Then something flashed before me. I don’t know when or how it happened. I just saw feet, dangling like two feet above the steps, toes curling. The feet were connected to a body of course, but I didn’t look up. Instead, I turned around and tripped, trying to get away. I curled myself up in a ball, trying to protect myself, thinking this was the end. After I didn’t die, I uncovered my face and turned around.
The floating body was gone.
James: 8/10 Ooh, feet scare me. Or at least, in this scenario. Thanks for sharing the scares!
Zoomies
Anonymous submitted:
Sometimes I'll see things in my apartment, like figures. I don't believe in ghosts, but my roommate sure does, so he said I should share. I think I'm just jump scaring myself but it's still hard to explain. Sometimes there'll be a shadow figure to my side but as I turn it won't be there anymore. My roommate doesn't see these, and we've been here a year and a half.
One moment one night, I was in my room, then I heard what sounded like a small animal doing zoomies in the living room. We don't have a dog. I thought, maybe my roommate got one or just let one in for some reason, so I left my bedroom and went out to investigate. As soon as I opened my door, there was a flash of light, like headed to the door to the apartment. I almost fell back.
Then the zoomies stopped.
Yeah, I can't really explain.
James: It sounds like your roommate is right and your apartment is haunted. 6/10 for scares. Thank you!

Scream: Revenge of the Scream
I think the trick in the Scream franchise is, if you put on the Ghost Face Mask, you instantly get superhuman athletic abilities and stealth. It does not matter what your background is, if you put on the Ghost Face mask and grab a knife, you can outmuscle anyone and anything. But as soon as you take if off you’re a bag of meat.
What is this movie?
It’s Scream VI.
How scary is it?
The Ghost Face masks still looks cool and this one’s pretty suspenseful and intense, moreso than most of these movies.
Although it’s not scary for me because I know I would solo all of the Ghost Faces.
Jump Scares?
Yeah, Ghost Face pops out of places.
Is there blood and gore?
More than usual in these Scream movies. It gets pretty filthy actually.
How dumb are the characters?
Not that dumb, but I mean, they routinely split off in moments where they should know they are being hunted.
“We’re the temple of Ghost Face? I’m going to storm off and sit alone by myself.”
Does the story make logical sense if you think about it too long?
No, but you could probably rationalize certain things.
So...
This is the most intense Scream movie actually. It was a bit darker feeling than the one before, but it still had some corn toward the climax (in a good way). It really leveraged the New York setting better than basically any other movie I’ve seen in New York in the past while, and a lot of movies are set in New York. It feels tight, claustrophobic.
There’s some good character work, and I do like Sam and Mindy in particular. Sam has the most interesting arc and Mindy is just charismatic. It’s fun that Kirby also appears, for some reason.
Anyways, 8/10. I have a lot of spoiler-y thoughts below. I wanna talk about the ladder scene.
Skinamarink Explained (JK I won’t do that)
I’ve been gone a while but that’s just because I’ve been Skinamrink’d.
Anyway…
What is this movie?
It was a viral sensation for a little bit before it hit Shudder and limited theatres (I saw it in theatres last night). Some people will say “know nothing about it, just watch it” so stop reading if you wanna do that.
It’s about two kids in a house looking for their parents and stuff around their house, such as windows and doors, start disappearing. It’s graiy as hell.
How scary is it?
I was scared. The whole time? No, I zoned off quite a bit, coming up with great ideas for personal projects, because man this movie goes on. Let it be known I did not take out my phone. But there were a few times that got me good, and I was scared later that night, and the story is scary to think about in hindsight. 8.5/10
Jump scares or nah?
A few, good ones. Cleared my sinuses.
On a scale of 1-10 (10 being Halloween Kills), how dumb were the characters?
They are kids! It’s also a weirdly told story so it’s hard to gather just how smart these children are.
Does the story make logical sense if you think about it too long?
This movie’s a good argument for me to get rid of this little section all together. It operates on a nightmare logic.
Overall
Ooh, this one is polarizing and I see why. My tattoo artist liked it, but she also said she liked boring movies. Unless you have the attention span of like, someone in the middle ages who threw around rocks for fun, you’ll be bored, but that’s kind of okay. Some guy blurted out at the end, “I should get an award for sitting through that.” It doesn’t reveal much about the characters, the setting, but for this I’m not sure it matters. Could it have been shorter? At least by 20 minutes. Did I appreciate it? Yeah, it’s so different from every other thing I’ve seen, and my mind can entertain me well enough for the brief lulls. It creates a vibe through basically grainy still footage and sounds.
And It’s scary. It pulls you into its liminal space. Confounds you a bit. It kind of lulls you in and then there are a few moments that oof. It really does feel like a childhood nightmare, so big kudos to the team for doing that. Anyways, it’s an original, go see it. Or don’t, you might straight up hate it. 7/10

Milson island ghost stories
Bryan submitted:
My school went to Milson island for a school trip. There were many lodges that reported strange things happening such as knocking on the door and missing belonging.
one night, me and my friends were talking at night when everyone was asleep. There was a crash that sounded like something being dropped. When we went to check, nothing had moved. We went back to bed but about 20 minutes later, we heard footsteps. No one was awake but we ignored it. The noise stopped at the door and we continued talking. 5 minutes later there was knocking on our door. We went to check but there was no one.
James: 5/10 I love that in Austraia y’all go to haunted places for school field trips overnight. Big fan!

This didn’t happen to me but to my nana who was about 10 at the time.
Nana used to live in chicago with her 3 other siblings and her mother and father. She lived on the 3rd floor of the building and it was fairly high off the ground. The children consisted of my nana, my two uncles and my aunt who is the youngest. She and my aunt shared a room while the boys shared a room. The family also shared a dog named Ralph who was known to growl/snarl at anything or anyone he didn’t know.
One night my nana was fast asleep. It couldn’t be any later than 3am. She was asleep and began to hear her name being whispered. We’re gonna call my nana Lisa (for privacy reasons).
“Lisa….Lisa….” my aunt whispered. Rubbing her tired eyes finally answering my aunts call she looked up to find a shadow man standing over her. A full, black figure. his eyes flowed and his smile stood out from the night. He didn’t harm her, he didn’t say anything. He just smiled. My nana paralyzed with fear could only call for her father but at a whisper. She says the man/figure stared at her and only her for 30 minutes before he went over the the window in between the beds, UNLOCKED it and jumped from the third story. The alarm was triggered and her father came running in. Her father says that all the windows and doors were locked. The closet was closed and Ralph who witnessed the entire ordeal from the doorway didn’t bark once.
She still to this day doesn’t know what or who that was. It made me completely uncomfortable for her.
Fuck Yeah Nightmares Mod James: 8/10 Yeup, that’ll do it. Thanks for sharing the scares!
Boy In Dark

I was eating cold pizza for some reason one night in my apartment. This is a third floor apartment, mind you. It was getting pretty late and I was thinking of turning in and then I started hearing light taps on my window. Tap Tap Tap! My blinds were all closed. I wondered if it was some kind of animal like a squirrel because there is a tree by my window. Well, I don’t think it was a squirrel after what I saw next.
I opened the blinds and there was nothing by window, no squirrels or the like. But I looked down and across the street, underneath the lamp, there was a kid. The kid was looking directly up at my window, like he was staring at me through it or something. He was dressed in weird old-timey clothes too. I’m not really sure sure that he was looking, but that’s because his whole face was covered in shadow even though he was standing directly in the lantern. It was like his whole face was just a void. I jumped back. When I got the courage to look again a few minutes later, he was gone.
James: 7/10 Ok yeah little kids freak me out in general. When they look like that I can only imagine.

*sighs* Big Yep on Nope
I don’t know who the Jesus Lizard is, but I bought the shirt Keke Palmer wears in the movie.
What is this movie?
It’s Jordan Peele’s new movie about a brother and sister who have horses and suspect there may be aliens in their backyard.
How scary is it?
The movie feels pretty vast (it’s over 2 hours) and it doesn’t maintain an oppressive sense of dread for its entirety, but fuck, there were some scenes that I was very frightened during, one in particular that I try not to think about when I’m in the dark. I’m not sure if that scene will work on others as it does for me, but it was very scary to me. 8/10
Jump scares?
I don’t think so.
Is there blood and gore?
There sure is, but not so much gore in a traditional sense.
On a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being Halloween Kills), how dumb were the characters?
Hmm, people usually should know not to mess with aliens, but I mean, I think if I found out there were aliens in my neighborhood, I’d be conflicted about whether to try to meet them from a safe distance or fucking run.
Does that story make logical sense if you think about it too long?
There are somethings I wonder about but sure, it’s not going to completely fall apart.
This one feels like the biggest horror movie in a while. Its unique desert setting makes everything feel big. It’s a horror movie but manages to capture some of the wonder of something like Close Encounter of the Third Kind and has a little bit to say about the great unknowable.
One thing I’d like to say about this movie is that it manages to balance the humor with the tension better than US did. This movie’s a spectacle that’s super original and I don’t want to say too much about it because if you haven’t seen it, you should just go experience it. It’s a thrilling movie and I think it’s Jordan Peele’s best. 9/10

Out the Window
My roommate who doesn’t have a tumblr submitted:
I was studying abroad in Florence, Italy when this happened. I was coming home late one night and thought my roommate (not mod james) was up and about. I thought this because as I was walking to our room, the door was open and I saw a figure standing in our room.
I could hear him talking, but couldn’t make sense of what he was saying. He did sound different from my roommate though, and strange in a way I can’t really explain. I said, “Huh,” and he just kept talking like I didn’t ask him anything.
When I was just outside the doorway, the figure stopped talking, turned around, and made for the window. He pushed it open and walked out of it even though we were on the third floor.
I yelled and then my roommate, who was apparently in his bed watching a movie or something on his ipad with his headphones in, got up and asked me what was going on.
Mod James: 7/10 for spooks. Feels weird typing this out even though my roommate is probably never going to read this blog.
