STEPPING DOWN FROM the smooth floor, rudy ignored damien as headed back to the direction he had came. ❛ you have obviously been deprived of quality content.
“You ever seen Star Wars? That’s quality content. I dunno what you think it is,” Damien called after him - he didn’t like being ignored.
AT THE ADJUSTMENT of his broken english, rudy scoffed and dropped his hand while turning away on his heel; the same thoughts were definitely shared. ❛ what has raised you to be this primitive, eh?
“I don’t know what your definition of primitive is, but I think you should go look it up again,” Damien muttered, picking up his shoes after sliding on a pair of sneakers, standing to his feet. He had had enough of this - sleep was well-anticipated.
RUDY LET OUT an annoyed scoff, placing a hand on damien’s shoulder to get the dancer to pay attention to him. ❛ && clearly, you do not know the possibilities this world has gave me.
“First off, it’s given - the world has given you - and secondly, get your hand off of me, kay?” Damien raised an eyebrow, looking up at the man. Now, he wanted nothing more than to be in his room, away from this... whatever it was.
his views are far too modern oriented, admittedly, but still — there’s something about him she enjoys.
“ the old movies are much better, i assure you. the emotions and acting is much BETTER. — but that is just me, i guess. now, because you say i cannot view your rehearsals, are you able to tell me what you can do? show me, possibly? “
and still, elizabeth will further their contact, a hand settling at just above his knee. she’ll stop if he requests such a thing, but for now… she’ll continue.
“Uh - I -”
It’s hard for him to think with her hand on his lower thigh the way that it is. He scratches at his neck, looking in front of him, to try and clear his mind. Staring at a neon sign asking about sex didn’t really help, but it was the best he could do in the situation.
“I don’t have my shoes with me... and it’s dangerous to dance with all this furniture around. My director would kill me if I got hurt. But I guess I can tell you. I mean - dance-wise, I’m a master at ballet - the others I can manage, but they aren’t my strong suit. You name it and I can do it, as long as we’re both talking about ballet...”
she won’t comment on how his choice of words, the vulgarity of them, bothers her, for such a fact is irrelevant. after all, even elizabeth has her lapses in such a thing, and with his honest answer given, she’ll laugh and reply. and unfortunately, the world doesn’t seem to know what’s right for him, for the countess will lean further towards her guest as he shifts in place.
“ flickers were movies… movies without sound, and in black and white. have you ever seen any of those? “
“Can’t say I have. I prefer the ones with sound. And in color.”
He resists the urge to lean away from her, biting down on his lower lip. They’re far too close together for comfort. Pushing a hand through his curls, he looks down to his knees once again, tapping his foot involuntarily. He doesn’t really know what to say or do, so he stays silent, still nibbling at his lip.
FOLLOWING THE CROUCHING figure, rudy’s feathers ruffled instantly. ❛ yes. your… films have stemmed from mine. might i add, from what i have seen— they have lost appeal.
As Damien removed one shoe and began to work at the ribbons of the other, he rolled his eyes. “Man, you’re, like, 30 at best. You’re either delusional, high as fuck, or really damn drunk, and I think you should go to bed.”
HEAD TILTING BACKWARD at a harsh angle, brown hues pierced damien’s skin as he stared; more than three people had definitely seen his films. ❛ your petulance is not humorous; i am very popular in my flickers.
“Did you just call movies flickers?” Damien asked, raising an eyebrow as he knelt down to begin to take his shoes off. “Whatever you say, man... whatever you wanna believe.”
IN HIS DEFENSE, his intention’s hadn’t been for damien to be offended. cracking a smile, his brows curved upward and he laughed. ❛ you tell me a dancer makes more than an actor? you are making a jest, are you not?
“That’s cute. You aren’t an actor - unless you count an ‘actor’ for films that maybe three people see as an actual actor,” Damien rolled his eyes - he didn’t recognize the man, so he most certainly wasn’t an actor of great fame.

RUDY HADN’T EXPECTED damien to get offended. head moving back, pale eyes blink curiously at the dancer as he defended his art. ❛ then it seems the times have changed… you do this for living?
He chose to ignore the times have changed part of the man’s remark - he didn’t understand what he meant, and he didn’t want to be more embarrassed - and angry - than he already was. “Yeah, I do this for a living. And I probably make more money than you, or most people in this hotel, anyways. Goddamn woman’s dance...”
SURE, HIS ACCENT may be difficult to edge around at the start, his meaningful statements occasionally coming out wrong… but years spent in a hallway, conversation the least of your worries, didn’t help rudy further his advantage on the english language. ❛ ballet— that is a woman’s dance, you know.
At the man’s next comment, Damien’s brows crinkled and his head tilted slightly to the side. “Excuse me?” he questioned, raising one brow. “If not for the men, the women would have no partner to dance with. All great ballets are made up of men and women. It’s not just a woman’s dance.”
POCKETING HIS HANDS, rudy supplied a nod. normally, he would want to retire to his bed but too much time of his had been spent locked away. childlike or not, he wanted to explore. ❛ && i as well. do you know many of the dances?
“I’m good at adapting - ballet is my best, the highest skill level I can reach - but the others are doable, depending on the partner.” Damien replied, giving the man a shrug. The accent wasn’t one he could put his finger on - it sounded slightly Italian, but also slightly... off? He pushed that thought aside; the man’s accent didn’t really matter to him, anyways.
PULLING HIMSELF AWAY from the chair, rudy stepped out onto the floor with a smile curving the corners of his lips; in his time, ballet was not for a man but dance could be. ❛ you are good, no worries about me. how long have you been down here?
“Uh - it’s probably been about a half an hour? An hour? I don’t really know - I typically lose track of time when I’m dancing,” he shrugged, looking at the man on the floor with him. He knew he hadn’t been performing at his peak, but it was the middle of the night, and he typically wouldn’t be exerting his body like that at an hour like this.
newly filled glass in hand, elizabeth will turn back around to face him with a small grin in place.
“ unfortunately, we don’t… when this hotel was built, gyms were far from the craze. if anything, flickers were what people cared about. do you kn- ow what flickers are? “
it’s such an old name for movies, but it’s a term she’s gr- own almost fond of in all her years. walking closer to him, elizabeth now takes a seat at his side, space limited bet- ween them.
“Can’t say I do... it sounds like some fancy kind of lighter or something. Place was built in the 20′s, though, right? Was it some place flappers danced or some shit like that?”
He doesn’t realize how stupid he sounds. What he does realize, though, is how close she is to him. He can smell her perfume, see the detailing on her dress. She’s insanely beautiful, but he can tell that this isn’t something he wants to get himself into. He knows he’ll be in trouble in one way or another - something about her tells him that. He licks his lips, folding his hands in between his knees, and leaning forward with his elbows on his ankles. If the world knew what was right for him, she wouldn’t move any closer.

RECLINING BACK INTO the seat, lips thin as he continued to observe from his seat. along with damien staying at the hotel cortez, he && his troop of dancers had an additional spot to practice in the hotel’s walls; tonight, it seemed to be only he on the floor. ❛ you know how to dance, eh?
It was practically the middle of the night, so he hadn’t expected anyone to be down there watching him. He had been deep in the music and dance to notice when a man sat down on the edge of the dance floor, so he jumped a little bit after he finished, looking towards the voice. “Oh - yeah... been dancing for a while. I didn’t expect anybody else to be here, sorry...”
his refusal is a bit off-putting, but her smile will only falter for a second before she’s standing once more, more than ready to fill the silence before it completely blankets them.
“ what do you enjoy to do with your free time, damien? and to further that, why did you agree to come into my room for a drink? i’m only curious. “
she’s pouring herself more of the scotch, her back to him by the time her articulation is finished.
What did he do with his free time? He didn’t really have free time to do things during. He ponders the question, pushing his fingers through his curls, before looking back up at her.
“Well, I don’t have a ton of free time to begin with. But, when I do, most of it is spent watching movies or doin’ stuff like that. Going to the gym, sometimes, too - speaking of, do you guys have one of those here? And I accepted because it would’ve been rude of me not to.”
He shrugs, leaning back in his seat, his eyes trailing over her body. She may give him shivers down his spine, but she’s still surreally beautiful, and he could definitely appreciate that.
