Despite the major inconvenience of an arranged marriage, Kellan had to continue to live his life as if this was completely normal. For the sake of the public eye and obviously his son. Since the marriage, he’s had to act like he’s in love with this girl, which is something he has yet to get used to. A few days back, he opened mail addressed to the both of them, inviting them to a Christmas party that his father had told him about previously. It just seemed more “professional” to receive the invitation by mail. He walked into the room he stayed in with Shiloh, wrapped in a towel, on his hip, letting out a huge sigh. Kellan laid the small boy on his bed and dried him off. Soon enough, a diaper and a t-shirt were put on and he walked over to put Shiloh in his playpen while he took a quick shower himself. He and Valentina still didn’t talk as much so he definitely wasn’t asking her to watch Shiloh for a few minutes. Especially because he had done it for two years by himself beforehand. Kellan went into his bathroom and quickly showered, walking out in a pair of boxers and a white t-shirt. A glance at the clock was made, and he realized he needed to put a little pep in his step. Eventually, he was finally dressed in fancy clothing, his hair done well and Shiloh by his side in dress pants, a button up, and a little bow tie around his neck. He grabbed the boy’s hand and opened his bedroom door, looking up to see Valentina across the way.
Although it was about the last thing Valentina would have liked to do with her night, she still began getting ready for the Christmas party nearly two hours before they had to be out the door. It seemed like a lot of time lately was spent appeasing to her parents (and now in-laws, as well) requests, despite her contempt. It was just something she had to live with now, she supposed, as hindering as it was. Val knew she made that fact pretty well known. Around Kellan, at the very least. This was quite possibly, as Valentina had once speculated, because he was the only one who knew about the whole situation, aside from their parents. Meaning he was the only person she could take her frustration out on, even if a tiny part of her knew it was wrong. Still, after she was convinced she had perfected her appearance for the party, she exited the guest room and began to click down the hallway in her heels to rush Kellan so that they’d make it on time. She was stopped in her tracks, though, when he exited his room on his own. And looking very put together, no less. Valentina’s gaze ran over him, lingering for a moment, before she cleared her throat and looked down at the clutch in her hands. She was definitely not staring, or so she told herself. “Glad to see you’re actually ready.”
