Omg I love this piece. I fucking love Knights of Guinevere so much already. I can’t stop thinking about it. Especially how after Dana’s time with Disney, she’s got a supportive company that’s letting her have control of her art.

I remember hearing from somewhere that while in season one of The Owl House, Dana was still trying hard to get Disney to let the show be plot driven, while Disney wanted it to be episodic because thats easier for people who haven’t seen every episode and who wouldn’t know the story to then watch. That’s what they do, they’re scared to try something new and want to keep reusing the same things that get them money.

The body swap episode, if I’m correct, was just that- Disney reusing the same boring idea because it was profitable. The same way the park reuses the waste of their old merch to rebrand and resell. Why be adventurous in your product when you can recycle the same episode ideas to appeal to little kids.

Love how there is not a single living thing in KOG besides humans and androids. How there is not a single fish in the sea. How we never see the sun. How the oceans have a rainbow shine to them. How people haphazardly throw their garbage out of the park and back onto the dying world. How everything is covered in blue stains. How “every new planet discovered is just being terraformed.” How they’re running out of PLASTIC.

Loved the pilot but oh man those bits were so. Hurts in a good way. The ideal world of oligarchs and the elites is dead and dying and even then, even then, they languish in their opulent rooms surrounded by devoted machines, upset at the one thing they can no longer have.

really like the fresh angle knights of guinevere takes as a disney critique. it's not so much "fuck you disney lmao" like everyone was expecting, it's moreso "there's value in the stuff disney makes, it's just reduced to mush by people that don't value it". i mean shit, guinevere is the representation of this show's thesis -- an entity that's still treasured dearly by frankie, and it had to escape being held hostage by its makers that were literally ripping its insides out for profit

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
