As much as Dorothy enjoyed her job at the Prophet, today had simply been one of those days. Between interdepartmental memos and column drafts to pending deadlines and needlessly long meetings, it had just been one thing after another. Her desk had quickly become an ever-expanding mountain of paperwork, and there was no end in sight. And for reasons that were presently unknown to her, she just couldn’t catch a break. To top it all off, she had mindlessly agreed to attend what she presumed would be a business lunch at a nearby pub over the lunch hour. Granted, Dorothy certainly enjoyed socialising just as much as the next person, perhaps even more so, but today’s schedule hadn’t afforded her such a luxury. “Alright, enough with this chit chat. What is it we are really here for?”Â
“Nothing, I swear,” Rita said with a laugh. “I just needed a break from the office for a bit.” Rita loved her job at The Prophet with all her heart. It was everything she had always wanted and worked towards but even she needed a break from time to time. Right now she was dealing with a story she knew was true but couldn’t quite get solid proof of. To escape it all she had managed to convince Dorothy to take an early lunch with her. “I’d rather spend my lunch with you than most of the people in my department.”
