A map design for Crystal Cove, created for a Fate game we are playing. Players start driving along the main road, where they encounter The Harbinger before entering the camp. The white banners were left blank so that only upon discovery would the location name be written in.
Crystal Cove has a number of inspirations, primarily Friday the 13th, with the lake and archery range, but also Courage the Cowardly Dog in regards to the farm house by the barn.
The visual style of the map was inspired by theme park maps. It started as a very loose sketch to establish locations and the layout of the campgrounds, and was then redrawn in an isometric layout, to get a feel for the angle required. Then using theme park maps as a reference, assets were created and put together, creating the final piece.
