So sorry it took me sooooo long to write this one. It turned out a little bit different than I planned 🫠 (it always happened) and I changed my style of writing to break through author's blog. Still hope you like it!
It’s been a while since you’ve gone on a date. Let alone a 'first' date. So when Jongho asked you out, you were… very skeptical about it. Well, he is nice, and very handsome, never crossed the line, looks like a perfect man. But you never know what happens inside other people’s heads. What if it’s just a play? And he is no different than your previous failed dates? It's just nerves. He will be fine and you too, right? You’ve told him your ‘no’s on a first date and he assured you that you have nothing to worry about. Here you are anxiously waiting for him to pick you up. You wanted to meet at the place he chose, but he insisted on picking you up. Since you didn’t want to share your address with a man you don’t really know he compromised on waiting for you at the nearest subway station. What a gentleman.
The day is extremely hot, no amount of sun protection can assure you that you are safe, and on top of that you are running late. What a nice first impression you are going to give him.
Jongho is waiting for you in front of his car, and you can see him suffering under sun around 500 meters before you reach him. However, he straightens his back and smiles as soon as he sees you. You smile back, because he looks amazing even in the most casual clothes you’ve seen him. He opens the passenger door for you and waits until you buckle before closing the door and moving to the driver’s seat. The ride is awkward at first, because you are very nervous and Jongho refuses to tell you where you are going. But the air conditioner and his favorite music help you relax, you strike a small talk asking about his job and things he’s mentioned before via texts. Outside heat eases as well after the sun hides behind the horizon and you both feel relieved getting out of the car. Jongho leads you somewhere and you just follow not really paying attention to your surroundings until the waiter shows you to a private booth. The place is crowded, but booths are located on the quieter side of the restaurant and it’s actually very nice. When you settle in seats and finally open the menu you finally realize that he really did put some thought while choosing place.
“Marinated crab?” you ask chuckling, “not very romantic for a first day, huh?”
Jongho smiles back at you, “Really? You mentioned something about it, so I brought you here. Okay, we can count it as a friendly dinner and I’ll take you out somewhere more ‘romantic’ next time”
You vigorously shake your head because it’s perfect. It’s true that the place is not very ‘romantic’ but who cares when you actually were the one to tell him that you were craving marinated crab but none of your friends like it. You said it only once, casually, and it was like weeks ago. But he still remembered and you appreciate it a lot.
“Nope. No second chances” you say with a wide smile, “First date is a first date”
And you are liking this first date already a lot. Maybe your worries were useless, and you, indeed, should give Jongho a chance to court you.
Jongho took you out for lunch during your break. And after that you suggested getting coffee because you don’t want to say goodbye to your precious boyfriend and go back to work just yet.
So you stand at the cashier of the coffee shop you come to every day during your lunch break and make an order: “One iced americano and one yuzu americano, please”. You pay with Jongho’s card (of course) and the barista gives you a bell and asks you to wait. You take Jongho around the coffee shop, which has a pretty gallery inside, but you never got to see it, because you always get a takeout and go back to office, so it’s a chance for you too to explore. Smell of coffee and fresh pastry follows you as you wander around the gallery hand in hand until the bell rings notifying that your coffee is ready. You go back to your seat and Jongho goes to get the drinks. He brings the tray with glasses and puts it on the table. The glasses are slightly wet because it’s hot outside and the drinks are icy, so some condensate settled on your glasses. Jongho sees it and even before you grab your drink, he wipes the glass with a napkin and then hands your mysterious drink to you. You take a sip while Jongho looks at you with huge curiosity on his face.
“Do you like it?” he asks watching you nod with a satisfied smile, “What is that even?”
“Americano with frozen yuzu jam” you offer your boyfriend to take a sip, “My favorite menu in this place”
He holds the glass carefully and takes a sip. You start giggling watching as Jong’s face goes from curious to confused to disgusted.
“How do you drink it??” Jongho asks handing the drink back to you, “It’s… disgusting”
You just smile and shrug your shoulders, “I like the taste of black coffee with honey”
Jongho looks at you in disbelief. His face screams that he thinks you are weird, but the boy himself doesn’t comment on your preferences letting you enjoy the drink and free time with him before you have to go back to the office.

It's 10pm, someone rings at your door. You go to check and are met with frustrated looking Jongho. His hair semi-wet, he still smells like his favorite shampoo and shower gel, dressed in sweats and tee that he only wears at home. When you ask why he is here, he enters your apartment and asks if you are okay. Of course you are. Why wouldn’t you be okay? So you take him inside and ask if he wants coffee. He doesn’t want coffee; he only wants to know if you are alright. When you sit him on your sofa he finally breaks and tells you that Yunho mentioned in the morning something about rejecting you. Which never happened. You haven’t even talked to Yunho in what? Like weeks maybe. So it makes you confused to say the least.
Turns out in the morning during the group schedule Yunho told San that you confessed and he rejected you but was or is very sorry about it. San told Jongho. Jongho came to see you straight after the schedule. Well, not really. He took shower and then came to your place. To find out that Yunho pranked Jong. Why? It’s a freaking mystery. You laugh at first and assure Jong that you are totally fine and absolutely not heartbroken. And maybe then you suggest getting door dash together since he came and you were going to have late night dinner anyways.
“So… did you really come rushing to check on me?” you ask waiting for food to arrive.
Jongho’s laughter fades at your question. “Yes” he answers after a little pause, “I was worried sick”.
“Jong, you are so lame” you joke, but the air between you two shifts getting heavier.
He stares at you studying your face making you choke on your own words, but then a mischievous smile graces Jongho’s face, “Am I”, he asks suddenly attacking you with tickles.
“Stop” you laugh until you can’t breathe any more and he only stops when your lungs start to give out.
Jongho’s face only inches away from yours, now dry hair still smell like his shampoo, the one that you recommended, and thoughts in your head stop.
Maybe just maybe you should tell him the truth, that you never confessed to Yunho, however you might have told him about your crush on Jongho. But before words leave your mouth, the ring on your door startles you both.
“Uhh… Food arrived. Let me get it”. You gently push Jongho off your body and run to the door.
I have a fic idea (maybe mini-series) where reader is a fan and they meet during a fancall and then they meet during other fan events slowly befriending each other.

But hear me out! I kinda find this idea cringe lol (still cute). For some reasons (I am working on it) I really don’t like the idea of idols dating their fans (maybe because I only encountered cases that ended up hurting each other) so even in my fics I want them to be equal.

Update on my mental state: I have been diagnosed with depression (with high functunality. Is it a thing?) a fee years ago. But last meeting my therapist said that they can’t tell now whether I have depression or I just need to quit lol I wish quitting my job could help but uh oh 🤷🏻♀️

You have always tried to keep it subtle. Never let your gaze linger longer than it’s socially acceptable, never voiced your overwhelming affection opting to call him by his name, never let your hands wander more than needed. You have always been careful. So why San is looking at you funny right now?
“What?” you finally ask after San glances at you for the third time in last 5 minutes.
“Nothing” your friend gives you a mischievous smile and leaves the room.
“Okay” you roll your eyes and go back to minding your business.
Next 10 minutes go by in complete silence while your stew is getting ready on the stove.
“Doll, I’m hungry, how l-…” Yunho enters the kitchen but cuts himself halfway, “Sorry. Please let us know if you need any help later”
Yunho launches himself out of the room with giggles, not leaving you any chance to reply.
“They are acting strange” you tell Jongho keeping your eyes on the phone.
“You think so?” Jong replies with amusement in his voice making you look up.
“No?”
“I don’t know, you tell me” your friend chuckles covering your hand with his.
“Jong. I don’t understand” you reply standing up and trying to free yourself from his hold, “Wait a minute. I need to check the stew”.
“You better check on yourself first” he replies softly, not letting you go.
You tilt your head in question, and Jongho gives you gentle smile. The one that always makes your heart melt and all thoughts and worries go away.
“Please elaborate?”
Should this situation make you irritated? Concerned? Unfortunately Jongho’s warm touch and cozy smell of homemade food only make you more relaxed and maybe a tiny little bit confused.
“I want you to be honest with me. And with yourself”, Jongho chuckles, “When are you going to confess?”
You blink a couple times looking at Jong in confusion, your mouth forming surprised O. Have you done something wrong lately? Insulted someone? Broke Yunho PS5? Accidentally stole Wooyo’s charger? None of that has happened lately so you frown.
“Huh?” you force out a question.
“Look at your hand placement” Jongho points at your hands and you follow his gaze.
His hand that has been covering yours lifts and you see your own hand holding Jong’s wrist.
“Sorry” you pull hand back earning another chuckle from your friend.
“So… When are you going to tell me you lo.. you like me?”
“I-… I don’t like you?” you frown even more trying to find a reason to Jong’s behavior. “I mean I do like you. But not as a man. Wait I mean… Ugh… Anyways you got me”
You feel your face getting hotter every second while Jongho pats your head gently, “I was waiting for you to break first, but you are so stubborn” he bends closer to you, lips almost grazing your ear, “you think you are so subtle, but you are always looking for me unconsciously. Even if your eyes stay on other people or things, your hands always reach mine”
Your eyes go wider at Jong’s words, “Jong” with a weak voice you call for your friend.
“Hmm?” He looks straight into your eyes, “Do you want to tell me I’m wrong?” Jongho smiles like he knows your biggest secrets. “So cute trying to come up with excuses. I have a confession for you too. I really really like you too”
You are confused, not knowing what to do and where to look.
“I…” you clear your throat, “The stew must be ready”
You run away to turn off the stove, “Yunho!” you call for a backup taking a chance to break this awkwardness, “It’s ready! Come eat!”
You reach out to get the plates from cabinet, but Jongho blocks it with his body.
“If you are too shy to admit it here…” he doesn’t get to finish, because Yunho and San enter kitchen.
“Thanks Doll! We were starving! And Wooyoung is super busy with his own schedule, but we were cracing homemade food and everything” boys thank you getting their plates and handing it to you.
“Hyungs, you can help yourselves. My girlfriend worked hard enough to come over and make food for you”, Jongho takes away the plates and hand it back to his brothers.
Two pairs of eyes bore into you. Yunho lets out a nervous giggle while San opens and closes his mouth a couple times.
“Jjong?” you sqeak wanting to disappear.
“Right. We have a date scheduled soon. Need to hurry up” Jongho grabs your hand and leads outside, “See you later hyungs!”
The amount of times my coworkers tried to push me to apply for other companies last 2 weeks… Mind you I have a stable job. But people that sent it said I look like I need to take a break (and our company should shut down).
I’ve been feeling very burnt out lately (Alexa, play Burning up by Monsta X). I don’t really broadcast it in my sns or anything, but for some reason a friend that has been overseas for a year and we don’t really talk much lately, reached me out asking if I needed help. It’s very heartwarming, but I’m still wondering how did they find out🤔
