Silent follower here, been sticking around since the chambaron (was it that, the name?!) years. Just wanted to say that I'm proud of you, and an external viewer of your life I am so pleased to see how you seem to have made a perfect full circle back to your love for art, but now better equipped academically. I am in the process of attempting a quasi-similar career transition -however rather the opposite direction to yours- but I would be more than happy if you shared how you found this move across disciplines. Best of luck in everything that's coming for you.
What a lovely message to receive, thank you very much !
To answer you without going into too much details :
For context I studied art history, law and now marketing in luxury.
Marketing in itself involves a lot of analysis and research, which law studies demand of you.
Marketing in luxury is also drastically different than what I would call "general marketing".
Since it is a high stake field driven by excellence, it asks us to be extremely well rounded individuals. You ought to have a knowledge about art history, law, finance/economy, corporate strategy and sociology. You have got to always cultivate your curiosity. It also pushes you to be innovative.
What interest me the most is having the capacity to preserve the DNA of a luxury brand, with its history and craftsmanship, all the while adapting it to the movements of society.
Yes, my academic career wasn't linear. But in the end, I would say that every step you take will guide you to where you're supposed to be. And more importantly, it will make sense and every effort you have put in will serve you. So I wish you well !
