Miss Americana could not have come out at a better time for me. This past Tuesday the President visited my sleepy little beach town for a large rally with another local politician. I, along with 3 of my coworkers, attended a peaceful rally against Trump’s visit, his policies, and his beliefs.
What I witnessed there was inexcusable. I was yelled at. I was called a moron. I was told to get a job. I was called a bitch. I was told to suck a (insert male private area here). I was called a loser. I witnessed countless grown men become red in the face from their endless screaming and from throwing aggressive hand gestures at anyone that looked their way.
Taylor’s political stance showcased in Miss Americana soothed my negative and anxiety filled thoughts I’ve had in my head since Tuesday. Watching Taylor fight for what she knows is right connected with my experience to help me realize I did make a difference. I did the right thing. Who cares what they think. I did it and no one can take that from me.
Do what you believe in. Stick with you know is right. Don’t back down. Fuck the haters. Thank you @taylorswift. Thank you.
