don't get him wrong. it's not because you're quirkless. it's because of the way you treats those with quirks.

his eyes wander over to the infirmary window, reckless papers abandoned on his desk. recovery girl is resting in a stupor while that pretty nurse keeps hovering over compartments and reshuffling gauze, bandages and god knows what.

his mind goes back to the eruption of words he witnessed a few days ago. how you'd screamed at him after he'd rescued you from a villain about how he'd hurt the villain himself. that calling the perpetrator a 'villain' was inhumane and that quirks themselves were ruining humanity's perception of society.

what an ungrateful brat.

in all his years of underground hero work he's never met someone so indifferent to his quirk. sure, it's not very flashy, but it is useful isn't it? after all, you didn't complain when he used it to save you.

the central idea you posed vaguely reminded him of chisaki's agenda. but you were nothing like him. you cared more about people than quirks. you cared about humans, and the discrimination between the vulnerable ones and "heroes". you said who we call villains are just people like us faced with a dead end. what a load of bullshit.

but, he thought with a sigh, your heart was in the right place. poor girl.

Ring! Ring!

The harsh, incessant buzz of a forgotten telephone rings out in some decrepit corner of the dingy room. It is staunchly ignored. Still, it continues in its pursuit of ringing, appealing to nobody in particular until its desperate cry feebles and fades into the silence. That godforsaken cordless.

My head rises from its uncomfortable position amidst my arms. Blinking slowly and cursing under my breath, I sit up straight and align my back with the spine of the chair I had fallen asleep on. A dribble of spit lays smattered on the pristine glass of my desk, the bright pink of the tablecloth under it blurring beneath its density. My fingers catch the fabric on their way up to rid my face of the remnants of sleep. The cloth seems duller than when I got it five years ago. Not surprising. Colour fades. Pretty unfortunate when you have nothing below the charming exterior.

I notice a scattered crowd of white ovaloid things in the corner of my eye. Probably spilled chewing gum I forgot to clean up. I haven’t been cleaning up lately anyway. My thoughts are interrupted by a gust of wind which blows by me, making its entrance from the window right by my desk. I turn my head to find the clouds outside coagulated, a sign of imminent thunder. Gloom covers the sky, shadowing the tips of the trees. My favourite tree, the one to which I regularly pour leftovers of my water bottle to, stands amidst them – tall and intimidating with pretty green leaves. Sometimes I wonder if the other trees question themselves as to why they aren’t as loved. But we as humans are born to see the world through shallow lenses of conventional beauty. Even nature isn’t exempt from this cruelty.

The slender hand of my wall clock strikes 6 in the evening. I’ve slept through most of the day. It’s become a habit nowadays, to breathe through gaps of time without a second glance. One would think I’ve become apathetic to the passage of time, as if I’ve got nothing better to do than spend it like this. As if I’ve got nothing to live for except the moments of unconsciousness. Where emotion dissipates and I’m left with the heady feeling of pure, unadulterated nothingness.

I stand and leave the room, not daring to look at the mirror. I haven’t washed for days. I can still feel the greasy clot of hair tugging on my scalp. Even brushing my teeth in the morning seems like too much effort. But that’s so cliché, isn’t it? Couldn’t depression be a little more creative?

I walk out into the living room. The large space is left untouched, bedsheets and curtains rumpled in the same manner they were left days ago. It’s making me uncomfortable. The house is silent. Too silent. Where is everyone?

Strangely, I feel quite calm compared to the rising panic one would face at waking up without much memory to a stranded house. I think that’s just my body numbing down again. Good, it’s finally taking my demands to stop whining a little more seriously.

Rain splatters the balcony railing and I subconsciously make my way to it. Holding the black-painted iron in my hands I gaze down. I'm expecting a view of a puddle of mud and drops of rain splashing on its surface to greet me, but I find in its place a gathering.

I can barely make out their faces. They didn’t seem to be saying much, nor looked very sad with respect to the glum outfits they chose. Pale white saris and kurtas dotted with raindrops; wet gray patches left in their wake. What a sordid affair. Who died?

I look up to see a photograph in front of them. A smiling picture of a girl with short hair. Dark skin which her grandmother had spent years trying to lighten using a mix of turmeric and curd. Dark circles under her eyes, persistent enough to never go away even after days of sleep. The yellow band of her ceramic braces glinting in the candlelight.

Well, that’s my question answered. Why would they even choose that picture for her cremation?

I turn around and head back to my familiar desk. Might as well watch some YouTube or whatever mindless media there is to consume. There’s no way in hell I’m sitting down and processing that.

I return to my room and catch sight of the table. The white ovaloids stare back at me. Oh, how stupid I am. They must be the culprit. Did she really use sleeping pills? What a wimp.

Well, I think to myself, facing the dresser mirror. I couldn’t realistically have used the old fan-rope method. I was always too much of a coward for that.

tbh im not really that much of a romance writer. i think im better at just writing feelings. ik this wont get much traction but its been a while since i've sat down and written something i wanna write and not smth that i know will be better rewarded on tumblr. anyway i know this is rough but its okay lmao, i'll live.

Ok I've been daydreaming about this for a while , so the male character works as a prostitute and reader is heart broken cuz her situation-ship lowk just blocked her and she feels she has no dignity, so her friend suggests she orders a prostitute to comfort her and reader is hesitant and hovers over a certain prostitute but she doesn't want to order him cuz it's weird so the friend takes the phone and orders him and leaves while teasing reader.

When he arrives he starts to flirt and initiate sex but reader just wants comfort ..
