“Downton Abbey: A New Era”
Who’s excited to watch “Downton Abbey: A New Era” in the movies? I totally am! I pretend to read “The World of Downton Abbey” this month before the premiere.
Since I started reading “Written in my own heart’s bood”, I felt compelled to re-read all the previous books just to underline all my favourite quotes. But I know it will take a very, very long time to finish.
Books to be read in 2022
Hello!Â
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and a wonderful New Year Eve.
Every year I set some reading goals. So far, I have these books on my TBR according to genre.
Fantasy
The Return of the King by J.R.R.Tolkien
Silmarillion by J.R.R.Tolkien
Unfinish Tales by J.R.R.Tolkien
Beren and Luthien by J.R.R.Tolkien
The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski
The Eye of the World
Written in my own heart’s blood by Diana Gabaldon - since this book has lots of differents elements I never know where to place it in terms of genre.
Classics
Dracula
Tales by Edgar Allan Poe
The Death of Ivan Ilitch
Angela Carter’s Book of Fairy Tales
The Great Gatsby
Biography
Mary Stuart by Dumas
A Memoir of Jane Austen
The Life of Charlotte Brontë
Do you set a reading goal every year? If so, tell me :)
The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
Yesterday I watched the extended version of “The Fellowship of The Ring” in the movies! Too bad I never had the oportunity to watch this extended version ... it is so poetic! It enrichs and adds so much context to the plot! I was almost sobbing in every scene.
Sailor Moon
I re-read Sailor Moon and I have totally forgotten this manga inspires you to believe in yourself and in the power of friendship and family!
Marchioness Edith Pelham & Herbert Pelham, 7th Marquess of Hexham.
I am currently rewatching “Downton Abbey” and Edith is one of the characters who got a WONDERFUL development and finale.
My mom says I resembles her in terms of personality.
Downton Abbey
Any Downton Abbey fans who would know if the book “Downton Abbey - A Celebration: The Official Companion to All Six Seasons” includes everything in “ Downton Abbey - A Celebration: The Official Companion to All Four Seasons”?
Happy Jane Austen July!
I set some goals for this month: read some Juvenilia and rewatch Pride and Prejudice (2005). Unfortunately where I live I cannot find others adaptations of P&P neither others Jane Austen books’s adaptations.
This is the beautiful cover of “Elizabeth I: A Study in Insecurity”, by Helen Castor. Penguin Monarchs have already released 43 in this series and every cover is utterly amazing and has golden details.
I have just bought the edition of “Edward VI: The Last King Boy” and I really want to collect the books about Elizabeth I, Elizabeth II and Victoria.
I also have watched “She‑Wolves: The Women Who Ruled England Before Elizabeth I” by Helen Castor and really enjoyed!
One of my favourite highlight from “Wuthering Heights” (1947) by Emily Brontë.
Wuthering Heights (1992)
Last friday I watched “Wuthering Heights” (1992) adaptation and I TOTALLY LOVED IT!
Some aspects which make this version closer to the book than the 1939 adaptation is the presence of Cathy Linton, Harethon Earnshaw and Linton Heathcliff! Btw, I really liked the fact Juliette Binoche played both Catherine Earnshaw and Catherine Linton. Also, I loved how the scene in which Cathy talks to Nelly about Heathcliff was portrayed.
And how do I begin to describe Ralph Fiennes acting? Those last scenes... phenomenal!!
Wuthering Heights (1939)
I have watched “Wuthering Heights” (1939) yesterday and I really enjoyed this adaptation. But there were some things very different from the book:
Cathy Linton, Linton Heathcliff and Hareton Earnshaw does not appear, which would set a very important role in Heathcliff revenge.
It is said Heathcliff went to America, but in the book this fact is not mentioned.
Edgar Linton does not die.
I pretend to watch the others adaptations such as: 1950, 1992, 1998, 2009, 2011.
Separation Brings: The Witch Rain
Artist: Rob Lane
Album: A Discovery of Witches
Release date: 2018
This soundtrack has been on repeat all day during this week. It is such a lovely music! It brings me to tears everytime.
Some rituals I love:
Light up candles;
Reading;
Drinking coffee or tea;
Be thankful about everything I am;
Watching a favourite series or movie;
Spend time with my family;
Organizing my bedroom;
Cleaning my bookshelves
