My take
I should probably use Tumblr for my HTGAWM posts
I normally don't like baby-plots on TV shows, it tends to ruin great stories when a character becomes baby-centric, and they then to lose their original plot. Pregnancy plots can be interesting (like Lorie Grimmes from the Walking Dead), but the impending arrival of that kid is like an impending doom. When the baby arrives the story tends to focus on balancing the story and taking care of that kid. I specially hate it when it's my favorite character. So when Meggy started to herself in that ER with a folder in her hands, my heart shrunk a bit cause I immediately know what she's about to reveal. That that person is Laurel and she's probably pregnant (with Wes' baby nonetheless) I was like, NOOOO! WHY HER! But in this case, when you look at that family tree, this kid has become the most interesting unborn child on TV! Unless Jon Snow knocks up Daenerys, then there is no more influential and controversial kid yet to be concieved on TV other than Wes' and Laurel's. At a point I didn't really tried to connect her baby with the person under the sheet because I decided not to guess who dead. (The reveal is more fun if your brain is blank.) So when they first revealed Wes to be under that sheet, my first thought was, "What? So they had to make Laurel pregnant just to connect her to Wes? C'mon!". I thought it was a cheap overused plot. Until Sylvia Mahoney revealed that Wes is Charles' son and I'm all "Wait! This baby just got more interesting! A Mahoney heir!" And then the #WhoKilledWes reveal. I doubt that it's just a matter of "My-grandfather-killed-my-father" scenario that this kid has to deal with. It might be a matter of "My grandfather my father because my greatgrandfather denied my other grandfather access to a 25billion dollars hedge funds empire which was supposed to be my father's which is now technically mine by rights and on paper." The mere existence of this tiny being is enough to shatter the already complicated world of K5. Much more when this kid becomes the first baby to survive out of the womb on this show. I don't expect a baby shower scene (oh please heaven don't ever make that happen on this show). I expect much complications (not medically) and so much conspiracies.
I realized I've become an official Karla Souza fan. Apparently she really is extremely talented.
Why is no one talking about the fact that Frank’s real name is Francis and that Laurel knew it, just imagine her reaction to find out this was his real name.
Because Laurel knows more than we do.
Another thing that absolutely killed me though is when Laurel wanted to see Wes’ body, and at first Nate refuses. Then she asks him to think about what it would have been like not to say goodbye to his wife. Can we just point out Laurel is so in love with Wes and that he is so important to her, that she’s equating his death with the loss of spouse. LIKE KILL ME NOW SHE THINKS OF HIM AS HUBBY MATERIAL AND WAUREL IS SO PURE.
Actually, Laurel loved Wes more than Nate loved his wife. He was cheating on her with Annalise way before she was diagnosed with cancer. (Refer to flashback with Mary J. Blidge, the girls at the parlor was gossiping about Nate. If you map it out, he was making a move on Annalise way back and they got together when her baby died like 10 years ago, so they've been together how long? No less than 5 years?)
Laurel was Wes' bestfriend. She's been trying to protect him and save him in so many ways. Wes said so. (Flashback to Ohio, Season 2 and Wes eating Pizza with Annalise, Season 3). It's grief. If your bestfriend died unexpectedly and as tragic will you not grieve? Will you not be as angry as her? Or as devastated as Annalise? What more if that's your partner and you're still in your honeymoon bubble. Hell people cry over a lost iPhone.
I think hers and Annalise's grief and Connor's guilt if one of the best written effects of Wes' death this season.
