me about any album Iâm listening to at any given moment: holy shit. This may be The Album of All Time
recent books:
bear by marian engel - deceptively quiet in tone but developed quickly, packed a lot into very few pages. beautiful prose but some thorny content and implication - clear why it's both a canlit classic and also highly controversial. the titular bear is um. very very present. but potentially my favourite character poor thing
voc 2011/12 journal - literally just a collection of trip reports for a local outdoor club from 15 years ago. and i loved it! immediately went hiking as a result
the seafarers by nevil shute - another short little book (exactly 100 pages) that i read entirely on the beach. felt scarily relevant to my life lol (being at loose ends... trying to find your path in life...) i've read a lot of nevil shute and this one felt more pared down than most of his novels, which makes sense considering it was unpublished during his lifetime. messing around with boats đ
