the night had been filled with a joyous atmosphere that couldn’t quite be compared to anything he had ever experienced; it seemed as if all of his friends had gathered in jeju to celebrate the best night of the year: halloween. kitae, of course, had a particular set of reasons to consider this holiday so enjoyable, one of them being the overall chaos and mischief that it brought. besides, it was an excuse to be himself, truer to his form and identity–well, certainly not this year, not dressed as a cowboy.
a few hours had passed since first arriving and meeting up with andrew to swing the expensive-looking lightsaber he had brought with him. he was fascinated by the creations that humans came up with, by their knowledge and behavior. certainly, everyone was there with the sole purpose of having a good time with their friends, getting wasted, dancing, or even losing themselves in the colorful feast provided by the organizers of the cursed island event, something that too piqued his interest.
01:05 A.M.
kitae would undoubtedly lose his cowboy hat many times throughout the night as his friend–or mostly his girlfriend–insisted on stealing it away. he didn’t care. he knew everyone around him was probably drunker than him, though that never stopped him from having a good time; quite the life of the party, he was.
getting called to work would be like the cherry on top of the cake for someone who had some deviances from his purpose within the last few months. but he heard them; he heard them right. fuck. this couldn’t be good.
kitae stood on the dance floor, semi-frozen in time as his friends danced around him, bumping onto him as the music faded and everything turned quiet. eerie, almost.
01:10 A.M.
time to move, kitae. time to walk, to get out of there and face whatever was on the other side of the door. of one thing he was sure of, whatever business they had with him, wasn’t something he could possibly involve his friends in. nor his girlfriend, for the matter. he leaned in close to her to let her know he was going out for some air, maybe a cigarette. who knew? the kiss planted on her lips felt somewhat bittersweet. while he had no interest in leaving her, he most definitely didn’t want to put her in any sort of dangerous situation.
01:15 A.M.
he finally started to walk through the crowd of people, headed towards the door. and while he was able to identify a lot of the people that crowded the place, others were complete strangers to him. regardless, they all seemed happy, perfectly content with their lives as they danced the night away. careless, because halloween was about letting loose. well, in his case, a turn for the worst–as a lecture from an ungodly creature awaited him.
he smiled at a few friendly faces, like those of mint and gun, surrounded by friends in a livelihood that was expected from the pair; and jiho, spotted somewhere with a drink in his hand; even the ever so radiant sue, glowing, she was. kitae had her to congratulate for such an amazing organization, a mental note for when he was back, perhaps.
01: 22 A.M.
the weather wasn’t all too mild, and kitae hated the cold. he always had. he heard them calling again, loud and clear and with a set intention. it wasn’t difficult to understand that he was in a bit of a predicament, nor was he foolish enough to believe he was off the hook.
he walked and kept on walking, and although he knew that taking his time was an offense to the entity that awaited him, he was incredibly stubborn. as expected.
01:34 A.M.
‘it’s been a while.’ he speaks in a nonchalant tone while kicking the ground in a careless manner. while he was nothing but a mere disciple of baphomet, his attitude was aggravating. he knew he had it coming, perhaps for attempting to follow his own rules rather than those set by the almighty entity that stood before him.
nor human or animal, nor male or female. baphomet was all things, a perfect equilibrium of all opposites. most certainly able to grasp a deviant demon and condemn him for his wrongdoings.
if only you did what you were supposed to, lee kitae.
01:36 A.M.
though he struggles, there’s no fighting it, he belongs in the underworld much like those who came before him, and those who will come after. his future is uncertain, a blur. this fucking sucks.
01:40 A.M.
a disturbing quietness settles, and he’s gone without a trace. cowboy hat included. oh, how inviting hell is.
i’m home.
this is going to be fun.
to be continued…
