@caernunnos
Watching AI chatbot companies fall apart under their own greed by upsetting their userbase is fucking delectable.
So something wild has happened…
1,000.
Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!
CONGRATULATIONS
Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.
I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.
Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.
Fandom is not social media.
Fandom is not trends.
Fandom is a cross between a library and having a slumber party with your friends.
"Old" means nothing to fic.
genuinely i don’t think it’s possible to easily explain the explicit part of online friendships to people who don’t Understand. i don’t mean like, explicit in the sense of “oh you’re sexting” or whatever. no. i mean when you and your friend start gleefully making up explicit sexual scenarios for your shared blorbos and you get giddier and giddier as you add more detail and you’ll be grinning at your screen as you type away at mach speeds. and it’s entirely nonsexual in an interpersonal sense, you’re not really getting Into it, but ohhhhh it’s soooooo fun and satisfying. and you can NEVER tell someone who doesn’t also do this that your mood is actively improved like fivefold because you and your friend played Sexual Tuoys together because they’ll go “what the FUCK.”
Like how do I explain I’m texting someone in a different timezone explicit details about something with my morning coffee and there is no interest between us??
Shoutout to my aro/ace spectrum friends, you just won me a scrabble game with the word ‘aros’- defined as ‘aromantic individuals, plural’
Rare Words #4 - Dout
Dout (v) - To douse or snuff out a light, flame, or fire.
In a sentence: As the lights were doubted, the room fell dark.
I missed posting rare words but I've been busy. Will continue <3
Would you like some tea for Mermay?
Or maybe coffee?
These are ADORABLE
Reblog if you’re grateful for your commenters <3
If you dumb motherfuckers are gonna take something unique from someone else’s story, at least don’t use AI to do it.
Let me make it abundantly clear: No one owns an idea. Several authors can come to the same creative decision independently. Collaboration and sharing ideas is to be encouraged.
I fucking love it when authors riff off each other’s ideas, or take inspiration and lore to build fanon together.
Copying another writer’s premise into some AI ‘creative writing’ tool is different. It strips the words of context, turning the original symbolism into a perverted mockery of what it was.
Fucking shoggoths.
I love dandelions!
*puts a dandelion in your hair*
Reblog to put a dandelion in prev's hair
Every single fic update there is an author trying frantically to find the right balance between a nonchalant aside of "leave a comment if you enjoyed =)" and clinging desperately to the coat tails of a random stranger, dragging along behind them on the street wailing "Please, please! I have to know what you thought! I'm desperate to talk to people about this! Ask me about the alliterative repetition! Ask me about the symbolism!"
@the-communist-unicorn peak comment
No for real ask me about the symbolism 😭
Everyone should have a friend they can make an "I'll write my A/B/O fic if you write yours" pact with.
cracks knuckles these omegas ain't gonna fuck themselves
I am making myself cry with all the subtext I'm laying here.
Yes, the secret is referenced in a dozen chapters, coloring the way characters interact for 100k plus words No, no one has figured it out. No, they probably won't until it comes to light. I hope I've done this well enough that it's a backstab and an knife twist when it comes to light.
reblog if you’re anti censorship and against harassing real people over fictional characters
So all those posts I made about AI writing 'tools' like Grammarly and Gemini sapping creativity, neutralizing individual voice, and reducing vocabulary? Well, there's now early research (conference abstract, link) with data supporting this hypothesis. I'm very excited to see the full study released!
There’s something surreal about watching AI seep and creep.
First, it was the occasional, laughably bad slopfic. So lurchingly and obviously inhuman, wobbling and flailing like a scarecrow in the wind.
And then it got better. Learning from us, rifling through our works. Posing as harmless editing tools to ‘improve your writing’ or ‘help you write faster.’
Still, it was clumsy and easy to spot, running away guilty and shamefaced.
But it grew, again. This time subtler. This time more pernicious. My friends- not friends by any standard of the word, as I’d never spoken a word to them, but names and faces whose creations and characters appeared next to mine - started changing.
If you don’t see your neighbor in a month, you might not take note of subtle changes. Have they just gotten a haircut, lost a little weight, sharpened up their attire? Or were they always like that.
My neighbors now are different. Their vocabulary, writing cadence, tone- and something feels wrong
They do things they’d never done before. And I’m left, standing in my little garden, wondering if this is natural evolution of their writing-
Or if I’ve lost them too, to the creeping Something Else.
