my tía mari lives in davenport, a small town with one bus stop outside of santa cruz. she’s cousins with my abuelito, her husband worked with my grandfather on the farms out here in the 60’s. she was my abuelita’s bridesmaid and good friend. i facetimed my abuelita this morning so they could chit chat. how funny it is to see girlish friendships in the winter of life.
