Valentine’s Day Party 2016!

Last year's Valentine's Day Party was so much fun, we couldn't resist putting together another event for this year. As usual, we'll serve some bad ass plated desserts, introduce a new featured cocktail and coffee list, and crank up the music. Perfect for solos and lovers alike.

So on February 13 (yep, the 13th—not the 14th) we're going to party from 7p to MIDNIGHT! Think of it like Valentines pre-game for you and your love. (Or just you! Coffee and cocktails make good lovers.)

With December just a day away, our Mobile Coffee Team sat down to take a look at the madness that is our winter special event schedule. As expected, it’s starting to fill up, but we still have some room for you. So for the next 24 hours, we’re offering a special deal. Mobile coffee bars, SipTruck events, and space rentals at our shop in Downtown Edmond will all be 25% off. As you’re thinking through plans for Christmas parties, we want to offer you the idea we’ve based our lives on, and a question we tend to say on a daily basis. Have you thought about coffee?

Mobile Coffee Bar / SipTruck - We are hugely popular at house parties, business events, wedding receptions, and generally any event where you would want coffee. Our truck and coffee bars can serve small groups of 20 and parties of 1,000. Along with classic drip coffee, we also bring along an espresso machine and can make lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, hot chocolate, chai, and tea. Everything is like you would expect if you were drinking with us at our shop!

Space Rentals - Our store is open daily from 7a-7p, but after close, we reopen the space for parties and special events. We are happy to work with any ideas you may have for the space! Can’t wait to share it with you.

New Menu. It’s ready for YOU!

Many of you know that we’ve had an all-new menu in the plans for the last few months, though we didn't know exactly when it would be ready to share with you. We’ve been asked more than a few times by fantastically unnerved customers “Will you still have waffles?” Rest easy; don’t panic. We will still have waffles. And they are better and more creative than ever! But waffles (as perfect as they are) won’t be the end all with what we feel we can bring to your table. There’s much more to come! It’s ready to go. And we think it’s pretty awesome.

Starting tomorrow morning, you’ll have the chance to let us know if you agree. We can’t wait to see you!

Sneak peak to what I’ll personally be eating tomorrow:

The Egg Bake. Take two eggs and crack them into a small baking dish. Add fresh rosemary, sautéed leek, and cherry tomatoes. Bake this until the eggs are perfectly runny. Seasoned perfectly a delivered to you with a fresh baguette toast point to do with as you like!

The Southern Waffle. This is a savory style waffle unlike anything we have tried before, but it turned out insanely delicious. Forget the regular Belgian style waffle for this dish and replace it with a hot cornbread waffle. Top that with goat cheese and ham. Serve it with a balsamic reduction. Perfect.

EVOKE is hiring a kitchen manager. This is a 5 day per week job (about 30 hours - weekends probable). Here are some details:

This person (maybe you?) would be...

• Responsible for recommendations of hiring and firing of kitchen staff. Responsible for review of resume and initial interview of staff. Will also sit in on final interview if applicable

• Responsible for training of all kitchen employees / creating training programs and systems

• Responsible for creating and implementing kitchen checklist and duties

• Responsible for scheduling all kitchen staff

• Responsible for ordering food for the kitchen and other items needed for the shop !

• Responsible for organizing pastry items and baking things if needed

• Responsible for coming up with new recipes/menu items seasonally

• Responsible for making sure quality of food is at its highest

• Responsible for coming up with menu/ideas for special events and catering

• Responsible for determining food costs and sales cost of all food items

• Responsible for the overall look and organization of the kitchen and storage room

Good day to you! We are pretty excited to bring you our first ever "photo contest" and a chance to win a $100 sip card (thanks to our friends at When I Work!). We know, you want to us to get to the meat of it: What do you do and how do you win! Here we go:

Sipping and Giving

Several weeks ago, we meet up with our pals at Keep it Local OK to come up with some sort of cool gift idea for our Black Friday coffee service from EVOKE's all new Sip Truck. We wanted something fun to give away to those that came to get their coffee from the coffee truck and decided that we'd print some cool mugs to give away.

Chris at Keep it Local got to work on a cool design, we ordered them and got pumped to give them away on Black Friday. Well, we had a bit of a shipping issue and they ended up not arriving until after Black Friday.

What we now had was 140 or so cool mugs that said "Black Friday 2014" sitting in the office, all dressed up with nowhere to go. So, we thought - what could we do with them?

Our decision was to sell them for $5.00 and give all proceeds (100%) to OK Foster Wishes. Before we go on, we want to introduce you to OK Foster Wishes.

OK Foster Wishes links the community with opportunities to support, serve and connect with Oklahoma’s children affected by abuse, neglect and abandonment. Here is a quick stat on the number of foster kids in the foster car program in Oklahoma:

11,400 kids as of the beginning of the year. That's too many. We want to help make these numbers go the other direction and we would love for you to join us! Our goal is to hand over around $700 to them just from the sale of these mugs. But there are other ways to join us! Here is how:

A Holiday Hours Update!

Hey friends - it's been a crazy fun year. Thanks for that! We are so excited for this time of year and for what's to come in 2015 for EVOKE. We can't wait to share it all with you!

If you're holiday season has started off anything like ours, you still think yesterday was Thanksgiving. It's not and since it's coming so quickly, we thought we'd give you a little update on our holiday hours so that you can plan ahead a bit. We don't change much but still worth a shout out! Here we go:

In the coming weeks, we will be revealing a few new things you can expect around EVOKE. The Sip Truck be Rolling!

We've been planning this for a long time. A really long time in fact. We are pretty pumped to say that we have finally released our Sip Truck - a full service coffee truck featuring all the lovable EVOKE baristas you get to see on a daily basis crafting those great espresso beverages you enjoy - now on a truck (this has to be a run on sentence, Kyle? Alex? Bueller? ..who cares anyway, we are excited!)

We wanted to wait until we had all these awesome photos ready but we just can't anymore! So, quickly, here is our initial schedule of events for the next week with WAY more to come (if you will be so kind to have us!).

Look for our truck at Blu Garten and the Bricktown Canals on the weekends through December. We are also pretty stoked to be back in the Plaza serving coffee. Collected Thread is just across from where EVOKE all started as that district is pretty dear to our hears. We will update the schedule as the weeks tick off and also keep you updated on where else you can find us!

We appreciate everyones support as we have ventured through the Mobile Coffee game in Oklahoma City! It has been a fun ride since 2008 and we think there is so much more great coffee catering in our future!

Loyalty, Feedback and More!

As many of you know, we are back with Square as our point of sale system at EVOKE. While most of this has no change on you, there are a few things we wanted to let you know about that is to your advantage! Here we go:

1. Pay with Square! For those that still have the "Square Wallet" app on your smartphone, you can use it again. We understand that Square Wallet is no longer supported by the company but you can use it until the new version is available in all markets.

2. Loyalty Card!

Because we are back with Square, we are back to our electronic loyalty program. This is good news because it means that every time you spend $3.00 or more at EVOKE, you get a punch on your "card". When you fill your card (10 punches) you get a coupon for $3.00 off your next purchase. Easy.

There are no cards to keep track of. To keep your card punches coming, you will need to send yourself an electronic receipt, either via email or text message. If you are paying via Credit Card at the shop, it will ask you if you want a receipt. Just be sure you use the same method as this is how your card is tracked. If you are paying with cash, you cans till get your receipt sent to you. You just need to tell the barista as they are checking you out that you would like to send yourself the receipt. Credit Card transactions will autofill your receipt preference, cash transactions will require you to manually enter that information each time.

3. Give us Feedback!

Once you get that receipt, we'd love to hear how we did. It is super easy to give us feedback and we promise we look at each and every response. Give us the good and the bad as it help us get better!

Current Feature: Spyhouse Coffee

Summer is over and its time for a change. As most of you know, here at EVOKE, we strive to craft great beverages, and one thing that helps us do that is by offering some of the best coffees roasted in the US. For a while now we have been following our friends at Spyhouse Coffee Roasters up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Not too long ago they sent us a few of their coffee offerings, and we were so impressed with their quality and dedication to their craft that we have decided to share to love with all of you.

We are happy to introduce you to SPYHOUSE and their coffee! We know many of you have taken some home off the retail shelf as we have not been able to keep it in stock! We will be stocking more of these coffees for you to enjoy at home or at work so hopefully we won't be out when you come for a new bag!

Single Origin Offerings: Don Pepe / Costa Rica This Imperial Reserve from the San Isidro de Leon Cortes region features notes of blueberry jam, mango, and horchata Finica Angelina / Costa Rica Grown in the Western Valley on one of the Aguilera Brothers’ four farms this Villa Sarchi varietal is honey processed. Expect to find flavors reminiscent of graham, lemon meringue, and pisco. Herminio Rivera / Honduras With hints of vanilla blossom, rosehip, and chardonnay this Organic & Fair Trade Certified coffee comes from the Yarconte, Cucuyangua Copan region of Honduras Las Nubes / El Salcador Last, but certainly not least on our single origin offerings is this Kenya Processed Micro Lot from the Buenos Aries, Santa Ana regions. It boasts flavor notes of honey, almond paste & gin rickey Espresso: One of the offerings from Spyhouse which we are most excited about is their Orion Espresso. This blend of three coffees from Fazenda Sao Bendito; Brazil, Monserrate; Colombia, and Rophi; Ethiopa presents “a blend of chocolate tones and sweet fruits.” We think this espresso compliments our style and craft, and we hope you enjoy it; on its own, or with a tulip on top!

Now, for the real meat of this note - we wanted to let you know that we will be closed on Monday, July 21st for our yearly clean and mend session.

This time allows our staff to gather in the morning and have coffee together and then tear the place apart (inside and out) to freshen things up and make EVOKE the best place it can be for you to come, sip and talk.

We know this is a pain for you but we promise we will be open regular hours on Tuesday, July 22nd!

Thanks for understanding and bearing with us as we clean this place up!

2014 Le Tour de France

July. In our opinion, the most wonderful time of the year. The cool weather, slight breeze, low humidity, perfect. July is the home of the Tour de France, one of bicycle racing's most coveted 3 weeks of the year. This year's version has proven, so far, to be another great one with millions of folks lining the route and riders going crazy to set the stage for the final day.

Yep, besides coffee, waffles and craft beer, not much is as dear to our hearts as cycling.

We will be streaming EVERY STAGE of the Tour (like we always do!) and we'd love for you to swing through, grab a waffle and espresso and enjoy yourself.

Late Night at EVOKE!

For those of you that have missed the late nights at EVOKE since we began closing at 7p a year or so ago, you are in luck! We will continue to stay open through the Playoffs as long as the Thunder keep playing! That means that any time the Thunder have a game, you can expect EVOKE to be open and ready to serve up some great craft beer and coffee.

Look, a waffle mama... and I helped!

Have you just been itching to get into the kitchen and make some awesome waffles, baked goods and other good eats? Do you love plating and running great food to super fun customers? Do you need a job?

Well, well, well.... we have a solution. EVOKE!

That's right, we are looking for a kitchen folk to help continue our great food service. From baking to plating and more, the right person could be you.

The ideal person for this job is someone that loves to create, cook and charm our customers with good looking and even better tasting food items. We aren't looking for Betty Crocker (but if you are her, please fill out an application, ASAP!) - just someone that wants to have a great time, knows their way around a kitchen, work in a crazy environment and help us stuff our friends each and every day with awesome food.

So, what do you get in return? You get a fun place to work 20-30 hours per week (weekends required), great discounts on food / drink and retail items at EVOKE and a canvas to create awesome new things! Pay will be determined upon interview.

A Community Drinking Place...

Hey, I'm Jason and one of the owners of EVOKE.

Bars - including ours - are community drinking places - open to all (or should be). We allow anyone to use our space and be a part of what we are doing. We have groups of all sizes, backgrounds, cultural influence and political leanings. To us, that is what makes our place so great.

As you may have noticed, we have lots of people shooting commercials and films at EVOKE: community action, documentary, religious, political, commercial, etc... Some of these are local companies. Some of these are national companies. We love our space and love that people want to use it!

We hoped it went without saying but we want to be clear. Our brand does not hold any views other than community and coffee (and maybe craft beer, too!). We love our regulars, our semi regulars and the people that walk through the front door for the first time. We love the conversations, the interactions and serving you.

Please know that lots of folks use our building - that is why we built it. We are not expressing any views, beliefs or any thing else when people rent our building for projects or parties.

We want to be your social coffee bar. We want EVOKE to "evoke" that conversation, debate and a real good time with friends. That's it.
