its so fascinating that we literally never get to know anything about alfons outside of the present. not a single thing about his past, his family, hell we dont even know how long hes been sick. because we only see him from ed's perspective. ed doesnt even bother trying to see alfons as his own person, he doesnt want to know, because the illusion of his brother is on a constant verge of shattering whenever alfons looks at him with those pale blue eyes
