Okay I found a really neat website that has documented some obscure final fantasy IV things! Among that is all the ffiv art there is, various commercials, the maps, etc. I think it's worth checking out :)
Golbez: Stuck in an elevator because Cagnazzo decided to jump?
All four fiends (and Golbez): FUCKING MINT.
Golbez: Scarmiglione's had three panic attacks in ten minutes?
All: FUCKING MINT.
Golbez: Barbariccia's being immature and yelling the whole time?
All: FUCKING MINT.
Golbez: Rubicante has just been listening to music and calling Edge?
All: FUCKING MINT.
Golbez: Zemus is the one we're gonna blame because he's an asshole?
All: FUCKING MINT.
Zemus is the root of all problems honestly. Whenever smth goes wrong they're just like "dammit ZEMUS!!" ("Weve been telling you the elevator needs repairs so hire a damn repairman!"-"why dont you do it? You're TECHNICALLY their leader"-"with what money exactly?")
Also they do know how to get scarm down from his panic attacks luckily :)
Barb doesnt want to be here™ ("why did i even GET into the elevator! I CAN FLY!"-"barb barb barb-"-"yeah?"-"shut it"-" :V!"
Yall remember that mushroom monolog? Like "you cannot kill me in any way that matters"? That but its scarm muttering to himself while he thinks he's alone.
Rubi: *trying to reason why he won't treat theo softer because he's a human (despite just being a kid) and boy does rubi have bad experiences with humans*
headcanons on the four fiends of the elements from ff4?
*vibrates intensely*
Okay so fun fact, ten years ago, when I was a teenager, I was absolutely obsessed with the Four Fiends of FF4. They are partly the reason I got into Final Fantasy because I adore awesome monster designs. Ended up downloading a ROM of the GBA version of FF4 because of it.
Scarmiglione
Poor dude reeks of death on a constant basis and tends to slur his speech. If not for his terrifying appearance under the cloak, most would laugh him off.
He's actually a bit insecure in regards to being considered the "weakest" fiend. Most of the time he'll brush it off or try to show his power, but it actually does get to him.
Out of all four of them, it's he and Rubicante who are the most loyal to Golbez. The guy has a tender side under the rotting husk of a form but seldom shows it.
Don't call him Milon for short, he hates that.
Cagnazzo
He boasts power, but in actuality, as far as magic and numbers go, Cagnazzo is weaker than Scarmiglione. But he's good at shapeshifting at least.
Cagnazzo doesn't hate Scarmiglione, far from it! In fact, he would consider the Earth fiend the closest thing to a best friend. He just gets jealous and petty.
His only company is Baigan, who isn't exactly the best comfort in the world.
Upon finding out that Cecil is Golbez's brother, Cagnazzo did actually feel some remorse for killing Cecil's adoptive father. Wasn't entirely his fault though, Zemus is to blame.
Barbariccia
Hot-take headcanon? Barbariccia is trans. She altered her form and identity because she wanted to. The other archfiends accept this just fine and are supportive of it!
She actually has a crush on Kain Highwind but her general attitude and ego make it difficult to admit. So it ends up usually being a one-sided rivalry to most.
Even though Barbariccia is the most "human" out of all four of them, she actually behaves more feral than the other three. If she sees a turkey leg, she's going to rip into it like a hyena tearing a carcass while the others look on in horror.
She loves spoiling the Magus Sisters like they're her own kids!
Rubicante
The most levelheaded and sympathetic of the archfiends, given his disgust for Dr. Lugae and his twisted experiments and honor shown towards Edge.
His intentions are good and he likes fair fights, but sometimes the others have poked fun at the fact that he heals his opponents. Barbariccia has even asked him if it's self-sabotage or if he wants his enemies to defeat him.
Had Rubicante known that Golbez was under Zemus's control, he would have helped try to break it much sooner. He actually despises Zemus's desire for genocide on the Blue Planet.
He's usually the straight man of the group, but in the rare instance where he isn't, Scarmiglione will be the voice of reason to snap him back into character.
Bonus four fiends in KH headcanons below the cut, because I wasn't sure if you wanted that or just regular headcanons-
Golbez once decided to assign each fiend to each major member of the Destiny Trio so their quests could go more smoothly.
Scarmiglione got stuck with Riku… they didn't like each other much at first but came to mutual respect and understanding as time went on. Scarmiglione seems to handle Riku's attitude rather well.
Scarmiglione found himself teaching poison-related spells to Riku as time passed, and is impressed with the boy's capabilities.
Cagnazzo was annoyed that he was being forced to put up with Kairi, the pure-hearted princess. He made any violent suggestion he could to the girl, who calmly refused.
Eventually though, after finding out what happened to her throughout the games, Cagnazzo became fiercely protective. He's gonna ask Golbez for adoption papers immediately once this is all over.
Barbariccia got Sora, and surprisingly, despite her violent tendencies, they bounce off together really well! Sora's friendly nature and Barbariccia's own playful antics actually make for a really good combination!
She isn't exactly sure what to make of Donald and Goofy. The two of them and Sora aren't exactly anything like the Magus Sisters, so she struggles when it comes to keeping up with the trio.
Rubicante was supposed to be assigned to aid Lea/Axel, however… if you've followed the memes on this blog, something happened so Rubicante was unfortunately reassigned to his close friend; Roxas.
The concept of a Nobody is foreign to Rubicante, so he treats Roxas like a normal human being and often challenges him. Roxas seems to trust him, but Xion was having trouble.
If you asked them what their favorite Disney movies were, I mean, it's obvious…
Scarmiglione - The Black Cauldron, Sleeping Beauty
