Show Me Love

A quiet sigh was all that Brook let out at first. She didnât know where to start. Everything, she initially wanted to answer when he asked what she was thinking about, but that didnât seem to even scratch the surface.Â
The past few months had been a lot - to say the least. Between what was going on with Sasha, their last break up still playing through her head sometimes, moving away from LA, adjusting to Cairoâs steady accelerating career, and now the issues with trying to have a baby, Brook had a whirlwind of thoughts circulating through her head.Â
âIâm okay I guess,â she shrugged, fixing her hanging sleeve up on her shoulder. Her lips pressed together reflexively as she was clearly lying. Cairoâs touch mixed with the gentle flow of cool air outside ignited goosebumps up Brookâs arm; something about him always seemed to create reactions like that out of her.Â
Brook turned towards him. She was silent. Her brown eyes were instilled with worry as she anxiously rubbed the same arm her boyfriend just was. âWhat are going to do if canât have a baby?â she questioned. âWhat if thereâs something wrong with me? What if Iâm infertile? W-what if we canât seem to make a baby because of me?â she wondered. Another quiet sigh was released from her lips as she calmed for a reason. âAll Iâve been thinking about lately is having a family with you, and us having dinner together, and going out,â Brook smiled to herself gently as the picture all began to paint in her head, âAnd just us being happy,â she continued. Reality set back in and her brown eyes fell with apprehension again. âI just donât know what Iâd do if we couldnât have the one thing weâve really been wanting because of me.â She finally looked up at Cairo, wanting to see his expression, âAre you worried too? Am I just being paranoid?â she asked.Â
Cairo would be lying if he said that it wasnât bothering him. He wanted a child with her more than anything and he knew that it had to be upsetting her that they were having a hard time. He wasnât going to sit there and pretend it was harder for him than it was for her. Cairo knew that on her perspective of things it had to be unimaginably frustrating. He couldnât imagine what she had been going through, and when it came to their relationship he noticed that she tended to internalize a lot. It was upsetting to see her like this and Cairo just wanted to make things better.
âHey, hey, hey donât get like that.â He told her as he wrapped his arms around her again. âDonât think like that. What if its not you? What if its me?â With all the girls he messed with, it was a miracle itself that none of them ended up pregnant. Cairo wasnât going to bring up that fact though. âI donât think we should worry about that too much. You know what they say, it happens when you least expect it. Maybe we just have to be patient? I know its hard baby but donât think its all you, okay? Donât think of the worst case scenario. If you want we can go to a fertility doctor and check things out with the both of us. Even....even if we canât have kids of our own we can still have a family. We can still have kids either way. Brook, youâre perfect to me in every way. If you canât have kids it wonât change how I feel about you. Youâre still the love of my life and youâll still be my wife and the mother of my children.â
âMaybe this is a sign we need to take a break with trying to have a kid? Maybe we shouldnât try again until we have an appointment? Maybe weâre trying to force it and it just isnât happening because of that? It could be so many different things. Hell, we could even be fuckinâ at the wrong time. We could be perfectly fine but weâre just doing it wrong. It could be just stress with how everything is going, you know? We can wait until we get back to LA and things are back in order.â Cairo gave her a tiny smile. âWhy donât I book us a nice spa day or something so we can relax? Itâll be nice.â
