When your 3 year old says, "mommy I'm sleepy" when you're 2 minutes into the drive to the market, you know it's over. I thought I was a creative mommy genius when I rolled down the window to give her some "wind" and blasted our favorite song. When I remembered I had an organic honey stick in my bag I almost yelled YES!! she sucked half of it down, and passed out...a block from Traders. Awesome. This isn't my first rodeo, I've done the shopping with my sleeping child before. It sucks. I almost always forget something, I can't label read and peruse around for that gem I didn't even know I wanted! No, this means you awkwardly one handed push the cart with laser beam focus on what you need, arms burning, silently cursing the morons who get in your way that somehow don't see the 35# fast asleep baby dangling out of your arms...by the time you get to check out you have or almost have broken a sweat and if one more person glares at you in judgement, like, how dare you bring your horribly deprived child who is so exhausted to the market or one more person says, aaaahhh she is OUT (Well no shit Shirlock...MOVE!) you may lose it. BUT THIS TIME AROUND I DO CROSSFIT! The same Idiots who don't get out of the way are still there but instead of silently cursing them, I calmly stood there and waited thinking nothing more then, "im really excited Im not dying right now."When they looked up, like, oh deary me...so sorry! I just smiled and went on my way. My arms didn't burn, I maneuvered my cart like a pro and I even did some perusing! And my kiddo was out. Floppy head, arms dangling, out. I even had a lovely conversation with the check out girl which amused me because I was thinking that this conversation would not have been an option a few months ago as I would be noticeably exhausted! But this lady chatted me up! I asked her if she had kids and she said nooooooooo which made me realize, ah yes, she had no idea how much a kid this size/age weighs...it made me feel strong. When I got to the car and placed my beautiful, perfect and amazing daughter(I'm obsessed) into the car she opened her eyes and said, "I was sleeping." and I said, "yes you were! Did you have a good nappy?" she then replied, yup! And was wide awake. Hahahaha. CrossFit is all about functional movement. It is great to have these real life reminders as to why exercise should be a part of life.
