a few weeks back, right before we went back into lockdown again here in singapore, i decided to venture out on a little solo tour around chinatown. wandering the streets, i discovered several beautiful and iconic photo spots around the area, and having spotted them numerous times on my instagram feed, i immediately searched up how to reach those hard-to-access photo spots and set off to find them, feeling a little like a spy on a mission/dora the explorer. after accomplishing my little mission, i then proceeded to set off on pagoda street, which was considerably emptier than pre-covid times. normally, the streets are already pretty empty since people usually only visit during the month leading up to the lunar new year, to get their hands on new decorations or snacks for the new year. however, with the arrival of the pandemic, even the storefronts were shuttered, and many of the stores had even shut down due to lack of business. it was saddening to see them go, and it truly made me wish for the situation to improve asap so that we could all return to some semblance of normalcy soon :')
