Pencil Illustration - 2015

This was a personal project of mine. It is a illustration of the character ‘Booker DeWitt’ from the Bioshock franchise. The character could be described as burdened soul - tortured by memories he cannot recall. The entire piece took around 3 - 4 hours to complete.

Compilation CD - 2014

The goal was to design a 2-disc collectors’ edition for a chosen artist. The titles for these designs came from a predetermined list - for my combination, I chose the artist ‘Marina and the Diamonds; along with the title "Satan Never Sleeps”.

I chose this title to reference a part of the human condition, rather than the religious figure. I took it to mean, ‘we’re our worst enemies’ - in a way that through anxiety, pressure, and our ability to torture ourselves, our personal burdens never truly ‘sleep’. I reflected this idea through the imagery - black eyed, temptress and the figure pulling at her own throat. Each figure is based upon Marina as a way to tie in with my chosen artist.

Portfolio - 2013

For my end of semester graduate exhibition, I elected to construct my very own portfolio. I wanted a unique feel to my work and I wanted the portfolio book itself to contribute. Instead of choosing either plastic sleeves or raw paper, the filing sleeves were installed for maximum flexibility. I was able to move each piece to different locations within the book or replace them with minimal hassle as each project was self-contained. I was also able to switch between landscape or portrait presentation depending on the needs of each piece.

Bekeen - Personal Study Application, 2015

Bekeen was designed for first year university students to organise their schedule. It would keep track of assignments, exams, deadline - and referred to here as ‘events’ - and would visualise the coming weeks and months with an intuitive calendar and progression chart.

Extensive research was made into the design and evaluation of the final product. Incredible attention to detail was made in ensuring each element and function was not only easy to use and understand, but was aesthetically pleasing to a board range of demographics. A smart addition this application is that each screen is designed for flexibility, and that the user may traverse between completely different sections with ease.

Wayfinding Solution - Macquarie Westfield, 2015

The focus on this project was to create or improve a wayfinding system. I chose to update Macquarie’s Westfield center, as numerous additions to the building had left it confusing and warren-like. In addition to this, observations and in-depth research into why the information kiosks around the center were ineffective found them too confusing to use and too hard to find. 

To combat these problems, three solutions were devised. Each level would be colour-coded, with large, obvious signage in places of large congestion. This would remind customers were they were consistently to minimise confusion.

To improve the visibility of the kiosks, they were heightened, would have double-sided interactive screens, and would have large recognisable ‘i’ installed at the very top. This would make them very easy to find to interact with.

The third issue lay with the user interface of the kiosks. They required very specific types of input, which made it difficult for those unfamiliar with the system. Along with an updated colour coded map, the menus would allow for predictive suggestions to show on screen including shop names and categories.

Will Graham - 2013

Personal Project. Using illustrator, I created a full vector illustration of Wil Graham from the NBCs’ ‘Hannibal’. I wanted to create a striking, foreboding imagery that would accurately portray the character at the time of creation.

IGA Environmental Campign - 2013

The goal in this project was to create a campaign for a supermarket that promoted Eco-friendly identity. The project had to three different marketing methods - a television advertisement, a web piece, and an in-store promotional device.

I chose to focus on my local IGA. IGA regularly chooses the light, happy when advertsing to its audience, so I made sure to carry the mood along. I chose to create a simple, yet fun campaign that could apply to the broadest demographic. The familiar family approach with a humbly drawn stylistic twist was perfect. The few elements I created were fun and welcoming and I used the same aesthetic across each of the platforms to unify the pieces.

PNG Web Design Project - 2015

The aim of this project was to research, devise, and construct and fully functioning website. We were to assess and analyse the goals and target audience of the original website, which can be found here, create a website that would fulfill and exceed expectations. We were also given the option to redesign the logo, which I proceed with to insure the new site was unified and fresh.

The PNG Woman Smallholders Project website was primarily used and targeted towards researchers, statisticians, and investors rather than the PNG woman it focused on. This meant a clean, minimalist corporate approach was preferred over a highly cultural design. The sites content has also been condensed and organised for maximum efficiency. The final result is a highly successful product.
