Had to run errands, but idea✨
First people are just Adam and Eve. Lucifer always admired Adam from a distance, in a he's a hot jerk, kind of way.
Lucifer gives the apple to Eve, as he still thinks they deserve better, and she gives the apple to Adam, it's all good, he's gotten away with it, except Adam blabbed and Lucifer got banished to hell.
Adam and Eve are cast out and Lucifer stews for decades until Eve falls ill and dies.
At first he thinks that serves Adam right. But then he thinks about Adam and Eve's kids, and he feels bad for them. They're innocent, they need looking after and Adam can't do it alone.
He whispers to Adam in his dreams convincing Adam to summon him.
When Adam is finally bone tired, children hungry, he's ready to drop dead from exhaustion, he calls on Lucifer.
Lucifer offers a deal, Adam's soul upon his passing and Lucifer will save them all.
Adam agrees, their hands clasp to shake and Lucifer tugs the weakened and beaten down man into a kiss that revitalizes Adam.
The once dry and brown field green and grow, the children's bellies fill, Adam knows his arrows will always aim true and find their mark, their fire never needs tending, and their well is clean and clear.
Knowing his children are safe, Adam can't regret his deal. Not even when the devil returns each month to "check on things" and renew the spell.
He doesn't regret how Lucifer devours his mouth and soul. How hands touch. How they lay together under the light of the full moon. Nor the swell of his belly year after year. Heaven stews in their anger, but he begged and preyed to them and their god for help only for the heavens to turn a deaf ear upon them. Even as his tribe grows with children full of sharp teeth and red cheeks, Adam doesn't regret his deal and waits patiently for the day he joins the only angel to listen to his needs.
